Hubs and I were on a pasty hunt to compare different ones; this was our second. Lawry's is a small little shop which is basically take-out, not dine-in. This is the second pasty shop I came across that sells souvenirs, so if you want/need some, they have a few. The pasties come is 2 sizes. We went with the large because we were sharing it. The pasty dough was cooked well and held together until almost the last bite. We purchased a side of gravy here, which was a hefty $1.99 compared to 25 cents at another place. The dough was a bit dryer here, so the gravy definitely helped. Again, we got a beef pasty which was filled with potatoes, rutabaga and onions. I'm not a fan of onions, but I didn't see any, so I assume they were finely chopped and mixed in with the meat. Also, we were sent on our way with paper plates and forks, which was appreciated. When in Marquette, keep Lawry's in mind. They offer a decent meal which is great for on-the-go. 19/2025 read more

They got my order wrong. I just ordered a regular pepperoni pizza instead they gave me a breakfast pizza, country gravy for the sauce, Cheddar cheese and sausage crumbles. I arrived after lunch hour and a employee was actually washing the front door glass. I never see this at restaurants especially during hours of operation. I ordered a pasty to go. My coworker picked up for me. It is hard to find flavorful vegetarian items in Marquette. This was one of the most flavorful veggie dishes I've had in a while. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, the dough had a nice texture, and the gravy was perfectly seasoned for the pasty. read more

I saw Lawry's on a food network show about the U.P. and had to find my way to try it out. The young ladies behind the counter were friendly. I ordered a beef pasty and a cudighi. The flaky pasty dough was the perfect vessel for the potato and meat filling which was seasoned well but potato heavy and beef light. The cudighi sandwich was seasoned differently from the Italian sausage sandwiches I'm used to in the NE section of the U.S. The bread was soft and there was plenty of sauce and mozzarella cheese. It was good and I would buy both again. I also purchased some mini pasties to prepare when I return to DC. I loved the U.P. souvenirs for sale as well. read more

Stopped in Lawry's Pasty Shop to pickup some beef pastys to take home, I brought our Rtic cooler in she figured the amount of dry ice we needed packed our and they were frozen as hard as we left, while were there we had the breakfast pasty they were awesome, super clean and modern place to set and eat, the staff were super friendly and informative, the best in the UP. read more

I grew up eating pasties so this was on my bucket list for this trip. I'm glad we stopped. Not quite as good as my Mom's but a close second. A nice mixture of ground meat, potatoes, rutabaga and onions. Lightly seasoned and baked into an individual crust. They offer two sizes 12 oz. and 17 oz. Since they are quite filling I recommend the smaller size. They are pre-made and kept in a warming oven so you don't have to wait for your tasty treat. My husband was pleased that they had ketchup on the table. They also sell frozen pasties and have a mail order business. read more

I may never be in UP Michigan again, but a part of these pasties will always be in the ring of fat around my belly. Been trying Cudighi sandwiches from all the restaurants around the area and finally go to try Lawry's. It is the largest Cudighi sandwich I've had in the Marquette area. A very generous portion of sausage on the sandwich. The bread is toasted and is really good. I ordered the sandwich with the works, which includes onions, mushrooms. marinara sauce, cheese, and jalapeño peppers at Lawry's. The sandwich was a gut-bomb and was really good. It could have used a bit more marinara on it. I love jalapeños but they did not taste good on a cudighi. I prefer Italian Giardiniera peppers on cudighi as it has a better flavor balance (for the suggestion box at Lawry's). Service was really fast and friendly. My review is just for the cudighi and it rates 4.5 stars in my book. read more

I grew up in Marquette and have lived in Washington State for quite sometime. My family visited and I had to miss out but the awesome part was they brought me back a couple of pasties! Got to share with my boyfriend who never heard of 'em as well. I wanted to say, thank you. I don't remember the last time I had one before I popped them in the oven today. It brought back memories. I love that you provide options for shipping or just offer them frozen. On top of that, it was delicious. Exactly how I remember it. Everytime we visit or bring our daughter to NMU I have to stop here. The classic beef pasty is always warm and delicious. We brought home the frozen minis for the first time and cooked them in the toaster oven. They were delicious and didn't last long. I wish I would have bought more! I too like mine with ketchup. My daughter likes the veggie one, but like another review says they don't seem to have those always ready or available. There are always people in this small place too. Soooo disappointed. I have had many pasties when I lived there. It's been over 20 years. I couldn't remember any of my favorites so tried lawrys due to the reviews. I couldn't find much meat. I think maybe a little ground beef? It was all onions and very little meat or potato's. I spent about $150 for 8 of these shipped to California - about half shipping. Do not order unless you want onion pasties. I'll dump the rest. read more
