Sadly, after nine years, I'm no longer going to be a patient of Dr. Evans. It was difficult to find a dentist when I left the former one; and this is even tougher due to insurance. Dentists no longer want to work with certain insurance companies, and it puts their patients aka customers in a difficult situation. I've been satisfied with the majority of the work I've had done here and will let them keep the five stars. The care here is top notch, everyone is courteous, kind, and gentle. I hadn't been able to find a dentist that was thorough & could do necessary work without terrible pain. The one I had as a kid was terrible. Recently I asked a San Rafael Only Facebook group about that dentist who tortured me as a kid. The post got so many horror stories! He should have lost his job he was so awful. So I wasn'the - only one with an awful phobia re: dental work! For decades when hearing the word "dentist" I'd break out in cold sweats & shakes all over. I had tried others but I left each one feeling scared, upset & in terrible pain I got a recommdation to see Dr Evans from a close friend & wow! He & the endodontist At EndoArt he worked with were beyond amazing! They both did their jobs perfectly, both offices are good settings, & I finally could get important dental work I'd held back from doing for so long! Great communication, my teeth looked and felt like they should, after some 30 years! ​No cold sweats, shaking or other problems I encountered in the past. Now my financial situation isn't good, but I can't imagine having such an experience as I had with Dr Evans & EndoArt. - The professional he worked with, with anyone else. I've got new problems that need attention & I'll do almost anything to get my teeth back in the excellent shape that Dr Evans & EndoArt got them in. I've been carefully brushing & flossing like before - my whole adult life, but they really need much more of that attention now. Badly. I just had to leave a truthfully glowing review that I'd forgotten to do a few years ago. The staff was also excellent at both locations. I'm able to write all this without feeling sick! I pray I can get my teeth back in shape because I think a couple might be worse...seriously worse So I'm hoping that something will come up. My mom found Dr. Evans in her Nextdoor app I wasn't really sure about picking a Dentist from the Nextdoor App then seeing how well and kind my 89 year-old mother was treated, I decided to make an appointment with him. I cannot tell you how happy I am with this office. They are ALL TOP KNOTCH SKILLED PROFESSIONALS, but what I really want to tell you is they are HONEST and TRUSTWORTHY . I was shocked when I received an estimate from this office for the work I needed done on my teeth that was HALF my last Dentist 's care plan estimated!!!! Summary: Dr Evans and team are healthcare professionals, not salespeople. I deeply appreciate them. Our whole family goes here now. I've probably been to 12 dental offices over my life and this is the kind of office where I'll stay unless he retires. I was talking to the hygienist at my last visit about my impression that most dental offices are "mills" that want to churn as many people through per day, and use high pressure up sell tactics. She said I was right and that's why she loves working where she is because she's worked previously at sales oriented dental offices and appreciated that Dr Evans and Dr Kwong are patient focused and not sales focused. read more

Have you ever met one of those weird people who like going to the dentist? Well, that's me. I love, love, LOVE it. I mean I don't necessarily like having someone I hardly know 4 inches from my face with little pokey tools and drills in my mouth but when they're all done and your teeth are polished ohhhh so smooth! A little piece of heeeaven! I got my teeth cleaned this morning and my tongue hurts because I can't keep it off my teeth...they feel so good! I was given Dr. Evans name a couple of years ago by my oral surgeon, Dr. Elder (also amazing) I was already being seen by another office in town so I didn't look him up at that time. After many unhappy visits I called and am SO HAPPY I did. This office is superb. I found Michele to be extremely helpful over the phone to set up appointments, answer questions, etc. Once I got to the office everyone makes you feel like you've been going there for years. So apparently Dentophobia is a real thing, and yes, I have it. I literally would prefer to do anything with my body and my time rather than being poked, scraped, and prodded with a toturous collection of sharp metal objects to the background din of incessant buzzing. Suffice it to say, it had been *years* since I lay in a soft chair with my beloved mouth (which I prefer to use for pleasurable things like eating, kissing, and talking) vulnerable, raw, and exposed . With that said... ...these professionals (particularly Dana and Dr. Evans) are some of the kindest people and they truly get job satisfaction from helping people. They are extremely experienced and helped ease my extreme anxiety without making me feel badly for taking so long to come in. They also made exceptions to their busy schedule to make sure I could be seen in a timely manner. Although I would have much preferred to do almost anything else with my days (I had to go in three times), I am confident they made this experience as pleasant (probably still not the right word) as humanly possible. Dr Evans and his entire staff are outstanding! They are exactly the kind of people you want to take care of all your dental needs. I recently had my two front teeth crowned, and because the color wasn't exactly right, Dr. Evans sent me to the lab where the technician color matched my teeth perfectly. He wanted me to be absolutely sure I was satisfied with the end result. The dental hygienists are all very good and professional, and get your teeth squeaky clean. Dr Evans is seriously the best. I used to see him many years ago, then moved away for a while. I moved back to the area a few years ago, but due to some severe illness issues, I had not been to the dentist in a while, and I continued to put it off and off...and off. Suffice it to say, my teeth were bad. I finally worked up the courage to go see him, and he was as kind and caring and compassionate as I remember, and put me entirely at ease. He didn't make me feel badly or ashamed for my poor dental health, and told me he would do whatever he had to in order to get my mouth healthy and to keep me comfortable while doing so. I was incredibly lucky to find out that my teeth are much better than I thought they would be, and was so grateful to Dr Evans for being so sensitive and doing such a good job. Dr. Evans is terrific. I have a difficult situation with my bottom four front teeth - to pull or not to pull...to implant or bridge...to ???.... Dr. Evans took the time to thoughtfully explore several options (and several price ranges) with me, which no one had really done before. I didn't get the feeling that he wasn't anxious to DO something, rather he opted towards more conservative treatment and he told me "if it were HIS teeth, here's what he would do", which I really appreciated. He was very easy to talk with and he draws great pictures! He has a great staff and an excellent hygienist (Debbie). And...he doesn't charge extra for gas, if you're a sissy, like me and need a little relaxation during your visit! So let me preface this with the fact that I hate, like really really hate, like I'd rather have bamboo under the fingernails hate, going to the dentist. A coworker suggested this office and even though I spend most of my time either in SF or the South Bay, I make the trek to Novato to see Dr. Evans. Why make the trek given my penchant for avoiding the dentist, well he is the best I have ever had and given previous transgressions, going to the dentist regularly is a must. Any time I have to have anything done it's always a quick pain free experience and the staff are all total professionals. There are usually two hygienists doing cleanings and Dr. Evans juggles the other three stations with great efficiency between people getting numbed or having their work done. If you need a dentist, I couldn't suggest him and his staff more highly .. though given how good he is, he can be pretty booked so plan accordingly. read more

This was my first experience with Dr Evans. I found his office and all staff to be very kind courteous and professional. I had 2 appointments, 1 for a first patient needing x-rays and an exam by the dentist, and the 2nd for a cleaning. I met him during the exam, and he was very personable and took the time to look at the x-rays with me and explain what we were seeing. My appointment with the hygienist, Angie, was much the same. Dr. Evans has been my one and only dentist. The experience has been the best it possibly could have been. I live in SF now so the commute to Novato is just too far during the week. He is my DDS for life! I have been Dr. Evans patient for 12 years now - since 2000. His job is excellent. I have 5 fillings and 3 crowns. After 10 years all of his fillings and crowns are rock solid. He is very professional and honest - provides advice on what he think really works for patients. Leslie, the hygienist, is doing very good job with cleaning - very gentle and nice to chat with. I just moved up to the bay area from LA and needed a dentist (been having pain in a newly filled filling). I found Dr. Evans online and did some additional research to see if he had received good ratings on other sites (which he has in addition to YELP). I took a leap of faith and went to see him. He is amazing and so is his staff. When he walked in to introduce himself I burst in to tears (fear of the unknown) and he was so kind and gentle that instead of going into hysterics I calmed down. He took the time exam my mouth and find out why I have been having so much pain. He explained, in detail and in a way that I could understand, why I have been having so many issues and the different options I had to fix the problem.
