The parking and transport to the airport are reasonably priced. On my last trip on June 18 there were bus problems. Those of us who needed transportation back to Van Nuys were told by staff to get our own transportation and given a reimbursement form to turn in by email. I submitted the form over two weeks ago and haven't been able to get an update on the reimbursement. It was inconvenient and expensive and I don't know if I am wasting my time messing around with their reimbursement process. Not sure I will use again.

Those of us who are tired of 24/7 traffic jam on 405 freeway to and fro LAX, this shuttle service is for you. From or to Van Nuys station, one may relax for about 30 minutes on this bus. I noticed that no free WiFi is available on the bus. Buses run every 15 minutes during rush hour and every half hour thereafter. The bus fares may be paid as you enter via credit card scanner. The terminal is right next to a public paid multistory parking garage. So, for a short trip, it may be wise to use the garage as well. Driver of the bus is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. So, relax and enjoy your journey to and from LAX.

9/4/2025 - The LAX FlyAway bus was leaving at 7:22 AM in Van Nuys and arrived at the terminal 1 at 8:38 AM, but arrived at the terminal 4 and 6 at 8:44 AM and 8:52 AM, respectively. Thanks for the Globe Entrance privileges, I got the TSA PRECHK at the counter right away, and proceed to the TSA check in, luckily, I have no luggage to be checked in. Arrived at the gate 15 minutes before the scheduled boarding will begin - I must abandon my planned airport lounge access this time! Lesson learned: Give at least 3 hours and 30 minutes to 4 hours ahead of your scheduled flight at the Flyaway Terminal to ensure you will not miss a flight!

Traveling is always a part of humanity's quest for connection and recreation. However, most airports are often far and away so having a Flyaway, makes it more convenient and easier for many. I've used this service many times and sometimes I leave my car at their covered parking for a few dollars per day; it's a safe and secure way to up the comfort and convenience of travel and access to LAX. The staff takes care of everything for a mere inexpensive 12.95 one way to LAX. The bus is clean and air-conditioned or heated for that matter and the driver is careful in navigating the busy and congested freeways, and fast too, at the same time. They also unload your luggage with care and attention while they drop you off exactly at the terminal of your airline's gate. One bad experience on an international trip, the driver unloaded my luggage at the wrong gate. Using my Apple Tag, I notified him to go back and was able to retrieve my luggage at the wrong gate! After retrieving the luggage I was able to board and fly to Finland for my U.S. Fulbright Scholarship a few years back.

11/18/25- buses do not run on schedule, so plan to have more flexibility in your schedule if using this service. The staff at the Van Nuys station seemingly has no accountability or supervision, and have been generally apathetic based on my prior visits. Any questions or concerns are directed to an 800 number, who in turn tells you to email someone else. Other than schedule and service issues, the buses are modern but not very clean and there appears to be no cleaning done between shuttle runs leading to food and greasy hand prints on seats and common touch surfaces. Generally it seems there is little pride or sense of ownership shown by many of the staff members, unfortunately.

It was more than what I expected it to be. It took less time and hassle of me driving to LAX and parking myself.

How do I cancel my reservation?

Have you tried calling the number on your confirmed reservation email?

How early do you suggest getting here for a 9:55 am flight if you are getting dropped off and not parking?

6 a.m. They stop at every airline at LAX and you don't know what traffic you are going to run into along the way. Better to be early.

When going to LAX, do they mark the terminal on your luggage so they know which terminal you are going to?

They put tags on your luggage as well as store it on the bus accordingly to the terminal. When you get off, driver will unload all luggage for each terminal.

Can i pay the ride with. Cash?

I believe they are cashless now when you arrive to Van Nuys

Will my small dog be allowed? We're flying together.

    Yes

    How much is parking?

    $5/day

Is this open during the Covid-19 pandemic?

    Yes

How busy is it on Friday? Do they stop at Terminal 7?

The FlyAway stops at all terminals 1-7 on the ground floor level.

Typically how long do you have to wait for a bus to and from lax (Van Nuys area)?

Not long 15 to 20 minutes

Is there luggage carts you can rent, to push multiple suitcases? Like at LAX? Thanks

No carts but you can request for help and they will bring a cart to help you with your luggage. Make sure you tip them.

How long does it typically take to get from the van Nuys location to LAX? Trying to plan accordingly, first time using this! ?

Depends on traffic and what time you go. It uses the freeway (405) and if you are familiar with it, you know it can take as little as 30 minutes to almost 2 hours. It also depends on your terminal as it has to stop in every terminal. If you are…

Any issues with parking availability over Christmas holidays?

They even include little holes in the fencing that allow you to stick your camera through if you're an avid plane photographer. You can tell they thought things through. There is a small play area for kids as well as a little info kiosk about the airport. I also like that they play the tower audio so you can feel like you are part of the action. My only real complaint is that I wish they had more covered seating. There are 2 small tables in one of the corner, but the other benches throughout the area aren't covered. And the area is all cement so if you are coming on a sunny day, especially during the summer, it is HOT in this area and bright. I highly recommend sunscreen if you are planning on spending a good amount of time here. I also want to say that parking is somewhat limited and very tight. If you have a long car, you might find it tough to get in and or out of some of the spots without potentially hitting cars parked behind or to the side of you. I know they are trying to get as many spots in as possible to accommodate visitors, but with the size of cars these days, it makes it tricky at times.
