Jose had previously colored my hair, but he left. So I booked an appointment for an all over color and cut with Janete for 150 (per the website). She did a nice job, but I was surprised that I was charged 215 dollars. I asked why and she said it was because my hair wasn't short, but my hair is not super long, and I am never charged extra anywhere else for the length. I didn't make a big deal of it, and I still tipped 20% because she did a good job, but I would not pay that much for an all over color and cut (was there for and hour and fifteen minutes), so I will not be returning. Just left a bad taste in my mouth because I ended up paying about 100 dollars more than I expected with the tip. I think you should stand by the prices or let someone know beforehand if there is an extra charge. read more

The young lady who cut my hair did a great job, and I was pleased with the results. Set an appointment in 30 days. Worse hair cut I've ever had and at $75 it was a complete waste of $$. She cut my hair with a very dull razor and never once took a pair of scissors to it. I just tried to call the salon to ask the name of the person who cut my hair and the call went to voicemail (at 11:45am). The recording says they are a Luxury Salon for Everyone - it's a large place with room for about 10-15 stylists. When I was there on a Saturday afternoon there were only two stylists working and the rest of the place was empty...that should have been my first clue to turn around and run! read more

$140 for a standard haircut. That's my take-away. Coming from Southern California which has one of the highest cost of living rates in the country, I have NEVER paid $140 for a haircut. No color, no drastic change, just a standard haircut. I came in with long hair, left with long hair. If you don't think $140 is too much to pay for a haircut, I will say that the cut looks good, and my hair looks nice and healthy. But I won't be returning since the last time I paid $140 at a salon, I left with a cut, color, and highlights, and not just a simple cut, shampoo, and dry. read more

STEER CLEAR OF THIS SALON! I came in for a bang trim a few months ago. I don't know where to begin with how BAD the service was and THE BAD ENERGY that I felt as soon as I walked in! First off the stylist didn't understand what I wanted at all even though I provided photos and an explanation. My bangs still haven't grown out from the BUTCHER job I was given. The stylists gossiped about the NEW OWNERS in front of my face, I could hear screaming and foul language from the back. The owners fight often it seems as no one was fazed by it. UNPROFESSIONAL. The stylists seemed almost nervous by the "new owners" and the lady owner had a vicious way about her. When it came to the moment of paying for my atrocious cut, the owners fought in front of me about pricing and what I would be charged. I walked out. Never to return. STAY AWAY and save your money!!! I called in for an consultation and the stylist who i got was insanely nice, chill, yet confident! For most of my life I kept my hair its natural black color but I wanted to get dyed grey for the summer. Bethany (the stylist) told a paired down version of what would she would do and also gave me a general time frame on how long it would take. So I was so convinced when she was all done talking I just asked if she was free at the moment and then she just started doing her thing It took about two hours to get all the black out of my hair then toned to grey but she was super nice the hold time! everyone in the salon is friendly and very social! From moms, to art students... the customers were also super great! The atmosphere was so comfortable. RESULTS :: my hair ended up being this super fantastic grey color that I always wanted! There was no fuss, just get down to business. The texture is still soft and really easy to style. Lastly, they even suggested me treatments / touch up treatments just in case the grey washes out after a couple weeks. Also, the price was a steal for the amazing service I got here. I visited Beth with inspiration photos and we worked together to make my vision a reality. I feel like we are constantly collaborating (does anything feel better than being -heard-?) and she uses her expertise to make it happen. I contacted Layers Friday morning before business hours and received a response shortly after their opening time. I was lucky in that there had been a cancellation and was able to get an appointment. I have been going here to see Eddie Tomlin for over a year now. No matter what crazy idea I've come up with he always goes above and beyond to make it happen, and it always turns out even better than I could have imagined! From long hair to an edged out pixie and back. His color work is excellent, and my highlights have never looked better! I went in last time for a bright purple peekaboo dye job and it turned out so vibrant and perfect! I am beyond thrilled and have gotten so many compliments on the color and the excellent dye work. I had never done a full dye job like this and he made sure I knew what to expect during the process, and how to take care of my new fantasy hair so it stayed bright for weeks to come. He also cut and styled it to compliment the peekaboo just perfectly so it peeks out the bottom when my hair is down, and weaves through it when I curl it. I appreciate that he always takes the time to listen to what I want and make suggestions to make it work for me. I cannot recommend him enough as both a stylist and a colorist! Horrible service and horrible work! I don't recommend it unless you go to a Master stylist which charges more and it's still not guaranteed. My girl has been doing hair at THAT salon for over 10 yrs. When I told her what I was looking for she just nodded and disappeared for about 20-30 min. What is that?! I'm sure I wasnt schedule during her lunch break. I'f that's not bad enough she doesn't tell me what she's doing and when I ask she just days " what you wanted" the end result was the worst highlight job. Students still in school have done better. It was sloppy and wrong. I went in to get a base color and highlights. I came out with highlights that started an inch away from my scalp and two toned color! I went to Layers for the first time today and I absolutely loved it! I traveled about 1 1/2 hours for Bethany to do my hair and it was worth every minute of the drive! She was so understanding and flexible with my work schedule when picking a time that was right for us both. She asked me what I wanted and she worked extremely hard until I got just that! Her goal is to make sure that you like your hair, and will continue to do whatever she can to make sure she achieves that goal. Came here for a simple toner and 1/2 inch trim to get the small amount of dead ends off. I ended up with 3 inches off which I did not ask for and was not told was happening. I am extremely disappointed for what I had done and the price I had to pay for it. Will never come here again and do not recommend coming here even if you think it is a simple task. Not the first time they've messed up a simple task either. Two customers and friends of mine have come here for 1) a haircut that was cut unevenly and 2) the dye ended up being a completely differently color than what was asked for. I hope you keep this in mind when looking for a new hair salon to go to. read more

I'm a natural blonde and decided I wanted a change to a brown/red - I began maintaining the color myself and buying color/developer from Sally Beauty Supply. When I was ready to step back into blonde, Bethany was the first girl I called! I was nervous about the damage/process that this might take but Bethany was quick to let me know the process and reassure me that the process would cause little to no damage at all. I WAS SO PLEASED - the process was long but the outcome excited BOTH of us! The red decided to stay and linger a bit but the way Bethany blended the blonde highlights/toning made it such a gorgeous rose gold tone. When I wanted to go a little brighter, she took me to the perfect pale blonde! Now, I'm excited about the next direction she will take me in and using a "fun/fantasy" color. I am not one to write reviews, especially not a negative one, but I can't help but to write about the experience I had today. I brought my mother to get a haircut this afternoon because she couldn't get in with her usual stylist. I will start by saying the young lady that cut her hair did a great job and we were very happy she could squeeze her in at the last minute. However, while I was waiting for my mother, I used the bathroom and there was dog poop on the floor. As I was walking out of the bathroom, the salon smelt like a sewer and water was leaking all over the floor. As if I wasn't already disgusted by what I had just seen and smelt, while I was in the waiting area, I watched a little black dog pee on the floor in front of me. It's unfortunate that a salon that has such wonderful reviews looks so run down and is so unsanitary. I could not wait to get out of there. read more

What a wonderful salon. I stumbled upon it while looking for a new place to get my hair cut when I moved into the area, and fate led me to Nancy at Layers. I have been going to her exclusively for two years and she always gives me a great cut. She makes sure to listen to her client's requests, and gives suggestions when asked. She also will walk you through the coloring process with a swatch book when you're looking to change your hair color. Overall, the salon is very open and airy, and the staff are very friendly and polite. Highly recommended! read more
