I have been getting trims here for a few years now, and when I first started going, it looked like it hadn't changed in decades. They're finally starting to make some updates, which may be because Tony has retired. I can usually get an appointment easily. It never takes long to get in the chair, or to get the services I need. I made the mistake of getting an appointment for a trim, and was surprised when they didn't wash my hair first and cut it dry. I've never had that happen before. You actually have to ask for a shampoo, cut and blow dry, or they will just give you a cut. Prices are great, and my trims are always done well. read more

Please be advised this place is the WORST! My daughter went in for full highlights from Kristina Underwood and had a horrible experience. Despite clearly asking for full highlights, Kristina didn't disclose her pricing (which ended up costing $500), and she left our daughter with orange hair that totally lacked any dimension or tone. She showed pictures of what she wanted and left totally upset. Kristina also said they were closing and refused to blow dry her hair. I brought our daughter back to the store a few days later to ask if she could make corrections. At first she claimed she didn't remember serving her and then oddly seemed to remember (and lie) about several details. She refused to provide even a partial refund and said to make any correction would cost more. Kristina is clearly trash. She took advantage of a child, and then refused to make it right. Tony was there and wouldn't even look me in the face during the dispute in his store. I would avoid this place like the plague! Zero customer service and they take absolute advantage of people. read more

No waiting which was nice. Had a good hair cut. Was very pleased. And the price was reasonable unlike the $88 cuts I had heard about. My hair is very short, thin and can be very quickly cut. So was pleased to pay a reasonable price. read more

I went back to Tony's Hair because I desperately needed a cut to refresh my look after being stuck at home for so long during the pandemic. I was really pleased to see all the safety measures in place. You are asked to wait outside the salon so you can have your temperature taken before entering. All the stylists and clients were wearing masks. Erin is an absolute rockstar. I had an idea of what I wanted my hair to look like and she made it happen! She gave great advice on the best cut for my hair and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out. The customer service is great here. I had a positive experience with everyone I spoke with from the time I called to make an appointment to the time I walked out the door after my cut. Prices are also very reasonable, especially with how great of a job they do. I highly recommend you book an appointment at Tony's Hair if you are looking to freshen up your look! read more

Went in on a Saturday not to long ago - no acknowledgment whatsoever- looked around-something is different-2 stylist working on over 70 yr old women's hair with one under the dryer. I asked where Tony was - he retired. I'm out - Now time to move on. read more

Still a regular! They've done an excellent job handling things through COVID and service is exceptional as always. I should also mention that you can either walk in or schedule with a specific stylist ahead of time, so it's very convenient. I do recommend making an appointment if you have your heart set on a specific stylist though since they can be pretty popular! I won't go anywhere else. :) read more

I LOVE that it is a small business and obviously filled with a "family" atmosphere. You can feel that these people enjoy working with each other. Very chill and fun. Also love that the owner is right beside the girls getting his hands dirty. :) Now onto the service- Erin was my stylist on my first visit. When I initially called I really had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair, just that I wanted CHANGE. From my first call they were able to identify that I am indecisive and scheduled me accordingly (thank God). I sat in the chair, showed Erin my idea pics on my phone and she laid out the possibilities of what might happen to my hair if we went for it. She gave me best case and worst case, preparing me in the event my hair fell out. Having all the information and no false hopes, I made the decision to go for it. And let me tell you, I'm glad I did. I LOVE my hair and I LOVE that Erin got right in there and went for it. She told me it would be messy and it would take time, so again I knew what to expect. I appreciated her upfront presentation and the importance to her that I have all the info going into the process. All in all I truly enjoyed Tony's Hair and I will definitely be back. I was with my daughter when she made her first appointment at this place for Tues prior to Thanksgiving at 10:30, heard the date/time and confirmation. Took my daughter to the salon and when she went in at that time, she was told that the stylist wasn't in that day and that her appointment was actually Wed at 10:30. She was annoyed but generally okay since it was still before Thanksgiving. She drove herself there Wed at 10:30 and they told her that her appointment was actually the day prior at 3pm, they couldn't see her Wed at all. My daughter was in tears. How can a place screw up appointment times that bad? How unprofessional. Erin is awesome. I'm very picky about my hair and have been to probably 30 different places over the years and she's one of the best. The color and cut she gave me is awesome. This was my first time going to her, but based on all her other pictures on here I wanted her to do mine. I wish I had a before to show. Also, she's very quick. I've had it take 4+ hours before at other places and it still wasn't as blonde as I'd want it. I definitely recommend her especially if you're picky about your blonde and want a cool/ash color. The best morning with Erin! I've been to her a handful of times now and every single time I leave her chair I'm so happy with the look. If you have a busy day Erin is who you need to see!! I was in the area having evacuated florida for hurricane Irma and found myself in need of a haircut and to get my eyebrows waxed. I saw all the reviews and figured I would give it a shot! first good point, as soon as I walked in someone came up and asked what I wanted and took me back. Now I say someone, because throughout the entire time she did my hair and eye brows, she never once told me her name. However the small talk (what little we had) was nice, and the haircut was standard for $18 nothing crazy, she did a good job taking off the length and I don't really have any complains about that. She was also very methodical and took her time to make my eyebrows look great, I have never had a better waxing and they have looked the best they ever had, especially for $10 Other than never getting her name my only other issue would be the way they talk about their clients behind their backs. I understand there is not much to talk about but in this case a man had come in and parked his motorcycle on the sidewalk, came in for a tanning bed session. My hair dresser mumbled along the lines of "how much?" to the woman behind her and they gossiped about the man for a bit, saying things like "Its a sidewalk not a fucking parking lot" and "fine if he burns, I don't give a shit." I found this edict in front of their other clients (and behind the back of the one client who was in the tanning bed room) to be very unprofessional. TL;DR? - Good place if you just need a one time trim up, a GREAT place to get eyebrows done. Though I could not see me ever making that place my regular place. read more

Recently visited Tony's for the first time and had my hair cut by Erin. She's been at the salon for over ten years and her experience shows: she did a great job cutting my hair and she did it FAST. I walked into the building at 9 AM sharp and literally walked out ten minutes later. The cut was perfect, exactly what I was accustomed to from expensive salons in San Diego or DC and for less than half the price. OK Erin is not amazing she took literally five minutes to cut my hair she did a dry cut and it came out awful and choppy and chunky. She also insulted me by saying it was uneven on each side. I have been going to Tony since I was very young and when he worked at Hair Cuttery. Great guy and very fast well done haircuts. Tony always stays busy so I would definitely recommend an appointment for him but if you are just trying to walk in you can wait and he will get to you quickly but all the other stylists that work there are really good to. Also you can't beat the price at Tony's for the quality haircut you receive. My girlfriend also loves the fact that they have a really good tanning bed. read more

She also cut my mother's hair, and that looked great as well. Their prices are so affordable, which is great in Richmond. Im "happy" with my results. I wasnt too sure what exactly i wanted to begin with but Erin and Kim helped me out with figuring it out. We talked for a good half hour and these were the results...I am content with the results even though I was looking to get blonder highlights but due to me previously dying my hair black with box dye, it was kinda tricky. Kim colored and styled my hair. I'm finding myself to like it more and more everyday and hopefully will be going back soon to bleach my highlights even more. And the price was reasonable. Considering I did have some harsh lines but they weren't noticeable unless I lifted my hair up. I'm guessing over time those will fade in as my hair grows. read more
