Had bluestone remodel in front of house. Never fulfilled contract but was paid. Stole 5,000.00 crate of the bluestone that was left that we purchased separately. Asked Mr. Layman to either pay for what was taken or bring all back. Would not reply to our phone calls. His business photos are a fake because the address of business is his residence. We had to seal the stone and other things were not completed that was stated in contract. read more

Showed up to do an estimate then disappeared without doing anything. Called me back trying to call someone else and said he needed to come back out a second time to do the estimate. Was also very weird and inappropriate towards me. Would not recommend. read more

Worst contractor ever! Please do not use this guy for any type of brick work. Cost $6300 for my brick porch and it's atrocious. Will have to spend another $6k for someone to fix what Layman said he would correct initially. read more

After meeting with the owner Rod Layman, I felt comfortable allowing him to start work on my brick patio and repair the stone work on my house. His workers were courteous, and kind to my dog (haha). I am extremely pleased with the work, and will recommend him to my neighbors. read more

I can honestly say that I have NEVER been happier with any sort of contractor whom I have hired. From beginning to end, the folks at Rod Layman Masonry have been superior. I received a quote the day I called. (It took about a week for the two other contractors to give me a quote.) After notifying Mr. Layman that we wanted him to do the work, his crew started the next day. They worked diligently and constantly until the job was complete about a week later. The final bill was exactly what he quoted, even though we ended up making things a bit bigger than was the original plan. I should also add that the "clean-up" was just as efficient. Very thorough in their work, performed the work in a timely manner. They weren't sure they could match the brick on the chimney due to age, but I honestly can't tell where the old brick ends and the new brick starts. Rod, Tom and Steve did a fantastic job re-bricking my fireplace and hearth at a very reasonable firm fixed price which did not change during the project. They left the indoor worksite clean, no cleaning was required on my part afterwards at all. They accomplished the project quickly and professionally making special accommodations for working within the constraints of existing 100 year old structure (re-leveling settled floor and cutting new brick to fit the irregular edges of the existing brick). Rod Layman and his crew just completed three Kentucky Limestone flower -beds for my my home here in lexington. We are very pleased with the workmanship. We used his services a few years ago for the garden in the front yard, and now just completed the back. I called around and had several estimates placed. Although he was not the cheapest, his price was very competitive and we knew the work would be done right. Rod finished before the agreed date and the cleanup was amazing.
