Today we had Jerry come over to work on our HVAC system. He did an incredible job getting that squared away. We've had Lazer out a few times and they are incredible to work with. Unprofessional. Cory walked out on me and my husband because he didn't want to "get yelled at" for a poor job that was partially his fault for hiring a sub contractor to fix their mistake. Have used lazer electric 3-4 times for plumbing, electrical etc. fast response but every time when done they were much more expensive than I thought they should be. This last visit took the cake. Furnace was acting up. They diagnosed a small part needed replaced. Quoted $396.00 for the part plus install and service call total almost $500. Had to go to some place in Urbandale for part. While he was gone I googled the part. Found it on internet for around $10. Called lazer and cancelled the call. Then called a different company. Next morning they came and diagnosed part didn't need replacing simply cleaned the part and furnace working fine. Instead of $500 total estimated cost at lazer total was $146.00 total. Requested a quote to fix a tripped GFCI (easy fix). Representative refused to provide a quote over the phone and recommended a service visit. Technician showed up, looked up the amount on his iPad, and recommended a ~$170 diagnosis. I asked him the price to swap out the GFCI and he said it would be ~$270. I think this means I would have paid $510 in total (= $170 diagnosis + $270 GFCI + $70 service charge). I declined the service, because the price seemed too high, and I fixed it myself in 30 minutes. I was charged a dispatch fee, and called and attempted to resolve it, but the customer service representative refused to refund me the fee. I will not be using this service again. read more

They came to fix a leak in the wall near the wash machine. The job was done, but they made such a big mess and didn't clean up well. Also they turned down the thermostat on the hot water heater to a temperature that made the hot water room temp without us asking. Had Lazer Home Services come out to look at our AC unit. We seen their advertised price of $79.00 "A/C Repair Assessment + Same Day Service" Mike came out. Dis an assessment on our unit and told me it needed to have Freon added that it was low. He said I had 2 options. Pay him $167.00 today for the service call or have the Freon added at a cost of $847.00 I about fell over backwards that they could get away with that type of over charging. i paid him and told him to leave and watched as he unhooked his equipment. I am an elderly man living on a fixed income. I don't know if because I was old they thought they could get away with it or they try to do it to everyone. Screw me once, shame on you. Lazer Home Services They was sent to me by Home depot services as a home repair company. I needed Two sump pump replaced Mine quite working. After being recommended I called them talk to a wonderful lady on the phone. Told her my situation Disabled/ Retired 75 year old man Single living along. No family to help me living on social security only No retirement program. Basic no Money I needed something cheap only. She said they would wave the $89 service fee. and they were a upfront pricing company. They sent two guys to my house. This Is not a home improvement Company like expected. The guys looked at old stuff and came up and told me they got one running did not need replaced. They hit it with a hammer and the switch started working. Note: Not a professional way to fix a switch. They gave me a price for fixing sump pumps $589 I asked what the pumps cost. They said could not say its included with the labor. ? This is not up front pricing. After getting almost done they said they had to disconnect my old drain system that it was either smashed or pluged up. You can't not smash PVC pipe. ? It was connected to other pump drain line and it had pumped fine. ? They Cut my outside connection and glued up a 3 foot pipe. Turned it on it started pumping and leaking at glue joint. I told the guy. He grabed The pvc pipe pulled it apart Start slapping glue on it and reconnected it. Did not check it. After they left I went out and looked and still leaking. It was leaking right outside my foundation so it would soak in and pulled into the sump pump to have it pumped out again. Same thing all over again In and out of house how stupid can you be. Went down stair Pump that was supposed to be fix to one pump was not working pump still not replace or working. Looked into othe pumps room. They had gotten into my personal belongs and used my Ice cream maker to dip out water from sump pump hole. Never asked or cleaned it after using and never put back just left it sitting by floor drain. Looked at pump area. There is a empty coffee can of mine that they filled with crap from the bottom of the sump pump hole. Smells bad They just left it there and did not take it outside and throw in trash can. While all this going on I had another phone call from another company the guy gave price over the phone 2 new sump pumps installed $600. I got a copy of the bill did not have price of pumps and they charge me the same for one pump as this guy would have done both. I told them at the first call I wanted both replaced not repaired. I would never do business with people like this again and suggest you not too. They would keep talking about there up frount priceing and when asked about the price of the pump its included in the labor. Not a profressional way to do business. They refused to let me know the price. When calling I expected to get 2 new pumps Not one repaired by a hammer. and one new one. Then they called and asked if I was available in the next 30 minutes, so hardly any notice of when they'd come out. WARNING!! BUYER BEWARE!! Electrician shows up at our home to correct the wiring on two three-way light switches and move one receptacle four feet up a wall. To start things off, the electrician asks me, "Do you have a budget in mind for this work?" That set off red flags right away. Who asks such a question???? I responded, "No, not a budget but I assumed it should take one hour, maybe two hours max. Would't you agree?" He responded, "Yes, it should." Lazer Electric's bid was $465 for 1 - 2 hours of work!!!!! THEN the electrician tried to up-sell me, - for a total of $525, Lazer would include a complete home electrical inspection - for an total of $825, . . . (I did not let him finish.) One, attempting to charge $230 - 465/hr for electrical work is outrageous. Two, attempting to sell someone an unnecessary complete home electrical inspection is unethical. Their model of billing is fraught with problems. I called them yesterday for service, and to their credit, they were able to get me a tech today for an electrical problem. I asked what their rates were, and they said they charged $70 for a service charge and then would quote what the fix would be. (specifically not time and material) Based upon the good Yelp reviews, I felt I would be quoted well. The technician showed and evaluated my problem (all outlets on a perceptually a single run were out). I had already tripped the breaker and believe we needed to tone out the specific run, and potentially replace the breaker or check for loose cables at the breaker. He listens to my problem, and starts entering the data into the tablet. He quotes $350 for an exact diagnosis, $530 for the cheapest fix and $1700 for the most expensive fix! I politely told him that was out of line, paid $73 trip charge, and found another contractor. The other contractor found the problem within 45 minutes and fixed for $70 total service charge. (way under Lazer's $530 minimum fix charge) I'll never go down this route again -- seriously who would go to auto body shop and pay for a quote? read more

Basically the only thing they offered was to replace it and i got a list of fees if they had to do any work vs buying a new $1700 water heater. It's an electric water heater but he didn't do any electrical work...um, so now what? I had to ask "why did they send you"? Honestly the worst plumbing experience I've ever dealt with. First I call this company last Monday to come look at my toilet and they don't get me in until Friday. Secondly the plumber acted like he knew nothing when asked a question, didn't even know how much a snake would cost. He diagnosed the problem quickly, checked and double checked his work, and fixed it without a hitch. Overpriced! Wanted someone to install a water softener that we had purchased. First thing they asked was could we return it. Wanted to sell and install their own brand. Then quoted price of nearly $800. When we said no, asked how much we thought the job should cost. Alarm bells! Tried to get someone else to quote the job, but no responses until the day they were scheduled to do the install. After quoting $500, with add-ons, service agreement (not wanted) and trip fees, the cost was closer to $700, for a job that took about 2 hours and not much for parts. They did not install the bypass valves that they said were needed, but otherwise the install itself seems fine after about a month. Try to find someone else. It will save you money. read more

Ever other provider I called provided free estimates, so I feel a bit hosed that I'm out the money with nothing to show for it. They kept saying they had wrong email. He would not even look at electric panel said it would cost 273.00 to even look at the box. I said that is not what the office said. the tech said it would cost 73.00 for showing up. paid him to leave. called office. and told them that is not what u told. me. then she said there is a fee. and apologized. While I have always had good experiences in the past, I purchased a service agreement for plumbing, electrical & Heating and air. Approximately 3 weeks after my HVAC was serviced and I was away at Mayo, the drain pan clogged and my house was flooded when we returned. Lazer does not consider cleaning the drain pan their responsibility, they said they ran water through the pipe on the outside of the unit, which obviously I can do, and the drain pan which may have collected debris when I had my ducts cleaned in 2017 is not part of their service. Apparently their service is limited to what can be easily observed on the outside of the unit. I obviously do not agree, I am writing the review, but you should know if you have them perform service this is perhaps not what you might expect for preventative maintenance. This caused nearly $10,000 in damage to my home, and I requested they reimburse me my deductible and the cost to have someone else do the service. They chose not to, and I choose not to use them for my future work or refer them to anyone I know, being in the construction industry myself. read more

I have used this firm in previous applications without an issue but this one was a mess. Our furnace refused to start so I called Lazer and they sent a tech right over. That part was great. He quickly diagnosed the problem and then proceeded to give me a $1,400 quote to replace the defective part. He did not have this part on hand so he had to go get one. While he ran out to get this part I went online to do a little research about this part and found I could buy it at my local distributor for about $150 and the part could be installed within 30 minutes. I have no issue with a company making some money on a markup but $1,000??? I told the tech that I would find another solution - that I was no going to pay that much money for a repair that should cost a lot less. This one left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Was surprised because being an engineer myself, knew its not gonna take more than an hour to fix. He then counter offered me for $283. Paid them a rip off fees of $73 for the call, called another plumber and got it done for $103 including taxes. They came out, looked at the location where the electric meter was, and immediately decided they would not work on it without a full house "service upgrade". Friendly folks but I would not recommend this business. I contacted them to replace a leaking water heater pressure relief valve. I was selling my house and the buyer was requiring me to have fixed by a licensed plumber.The employee they send provides an estimate of over $500 including trip charge.I am no plumber but appears to be a relatively simple fix. I question the cost, and ask how long will it take to do the job, and am told around an hour and a half. Still expensive but obviously a more involved job then I thought, so tell him to proceed. He then completes the job in 20 minutes. $500 for 20 minutes of labor, a trip charge, and a $15 part. I asked what happened to an hour and a half? He tells me the job goes more smoothly then he thought. Why would he tell me the job would take an hour and a half when it was actually a 20 minute job (that Youtube shows takes 6 minutes to replace)? You be the judge. If he gave me an accurate estimate of the time needed to do the job up front, I wouldn't have agreed to him doing the job at the quoted price. Shortly after using Lazer, I had some minor electrical work done, I of course use another licensed contractor. For a 45 minute job, the other contractor charges me $176 total. Seems fair. I did not have a good experience with this company. I explained to two people that I was meeting them at a relative's home. My appointment was 10am-12pm, and I was told I'd receive a call 30 min prior to the technician arriving. I received a call 26 min prior to noon and was told he'd be there in 30-40 min. Ok. Neither of those would come before 12pm. I told her this, and she assured me that if they weren't there before noon, my trip charge would be waived. It is just rude to give me an appointment time and then be late for your own appointment. I told her I was on my way. When I got there, the technician was there waiting for me. There was a message left on my relative's answering machine stating nobody was home and if someone didn't arrive, the technician would have to leave. She also stated that she had told me the technician would be there by noon. First of all, 24 minutes is less than the 30-40 she told me he'd be there in. I had also stated to her that I was meeting him at my relative's home. I had also told the person I made the appointment with that if they didn't call 30 min ahead of time, nobody would be there. So, she should've been a lot more professional and stuck to their word (of a call 30 min prior). Secondly, she did NO SUCH THING telling me that he'd be there by noon. That was a blatant lie. In fact, it was just the opposite. She told me he'd be there anywhere from 4-14 min AFTER noon. I called the office and spoke with someone else telling her the story. She told me she'd refer this to a manager to handle it. Nobody called me. That indicated to me that they don't truly care. So, I left a message telling my story on their FB page. This prompted a call to me. I explained my story (again) and was told that they would listen to the recorded calls and call me the next day. He called me the next day and told me he heard what I was talking about and that I was telling the truth. Yes, I know. I'm not crazy. So anyway, after all of that, he did handle the situation in a way that I am completely satisfied with. So, even though I'm still pretty upset that this has been such a problem, I would call them again because of how they rectified the situation. On another note, my technician was Rick, and he worked quickly and efficiently. He even unclogged a drain as a courtesy. I appreciated that. (Plus, he got called away from his lunch early to hurry up and meet me. That displays disorganization on the part of the company in my book.) read more

I am from Kansas City, staying at my parents house while my dad is in the hospital. I noticed a wire burning smell in the attached carport and turned on a switch to see what's not working and Zap. It bit me. Fire and smoke came out of the light switch. I don't do electrical or plumbing. I called a neighbor and he recommended Lazer Electric and Plumbing. They came out with in a couple hours and got thing up and running again pretty quick. Along with a bad switch, there was some faulty wiring installed who know how long ago.
