I went in to satisfy a craving for a sweet. I picked a cinnamon roll and got a beverage that was on sale 2 for 3.00. When rung up cashier looked in bag with the roll. When he said the total I thought it seemed high but figured maybe it was one of those deals where you have to buy 2 of the beverages to get the sale price. I will say the cinnamon roll was good. Then today I happened to look at my receipt and see I was charged for two cinnamon rolls. I should have caught the error but that's pretty sloppy checking when you also don't catch you rang up 3 items when there were only 2. It's not like the place was crazy busy. My sister was persistent about having strawberry shortcake for her 12th birthday party. Birthday girl gets what she wants so we came by to pick one up, without ordering one in advance like the last time. Luis and Sixto were the employees working on several cakes when we approached. We patiently waited and eyed all the desserts on display. Sixto helped us and was so sweet- even my sister quietly commented that he was helpful. My sister also wanted a cream puff, raspberry cheesecake bite and chocolate cheesecake so we ordered that too. Fast forward to a couple hours into her party, she was so excited for her cake and eager to cut it. She said her cake was, "good, tasted good. Dropped in to pick up Primal Kitchen's Chai Latte collagen powder ($40 for 8.55 oz.). Didn't notice til I got home that the canister was filthy and the product expires in 3 weeks. When I searched the web to figure out how far the expiration date is from the date of manufacture for collagen powders, I found answers varying from 1-3 years. So, I estimate that the collagen I bought has been sitting on the store's shelf for at least a year and maybe up to 3 years. Ugh. Will be returning for a refund. Collagen powders are located across from the store's automatic entry doors, so beware these shelves, because apparently the collagen products aren't being regularly dusted/cleaned. That doesn't bode well for the fancy unpackaged soaps either, that are nearby and must also be coated in dust and grime. I've positively reviewed Lazy Acres before and have definitely spent a fortune here, since it's my closest store. However, if I had any illusions that it was a cut above other stores, those illusions were definitely shattered today, when I found the store's seedy underbelly on a canister of collagen powder. No more mindless pulling items off the shelves here and tossing them into my cart. From now on, I'll be scrutinizing items for expiration dates and excessive grunge. read more

I have been a customer of Lazy Acres for years. My partner and I got poke bowls three days ago, one with salmon and the other with spicy salmon and scallops. My partner got food poisoning from the spicy salmon and/or scallops and has been bed ridden for three days. I called for the manager to politely inform them about this potential heath hazard, as I am trained in food safety and felt it important to follow protocol. The manager Rudy responded "you know food poisoning isn't always the last thing you ate." Not only was my concern dismissed and diminished, but the manager mansplained food poisoning to me. Rudy was unprofessional over the phone and should be trained on how to handle customer complaints and concerns, as well as a refresher on food poisoning protocol. Not a happy customer :( read more

I feel to express my deep concern and discomfort regarding their behavior towards me, which has caused me significant anxiety and stress while shopping for groceries. July 23 while I was at lazy acres I noticed that Alma was continuously following me around and closely monitoring my every move. At first, I brushed it off as a coincidence, but as time went on, it became evident that their actions were deliberate and targeted towards me. This constant surveillance left me feeling extremely uncomfortable and violated. I thought to myself maybe because I was in work clothes and boots and I looked a little dirty? I'm an electrician and just worked a 10 hour shift. Moreover, during my time at lazy acres I noticed that Alma made insinuations that I was stealing or engaging in suspicious activities. These baseless accusations were not only unfounded but also deeply hurtful. I have always been a law-abiding customer and I'm born and raised in Santa Barbara and have never been involved in any sort of theft or misconduct EVER. Being unjustly labeled as a thief has caused me immense distress and has tarnished my reputation in the eyes of other customers and staff members present on that day. I just visited SB from LA and stayed a couple days , this market was 2 minutes away from where I stayed so I went in to check it out, good organic options and produce are very fresh, I checked out the shelves they have good organic brands but everything is pretty pricy, although I didn't mind it much since prices in LA are not low at Whole Foods but I think Lazy Acre has better produce and the salad bar is way fresher, I saw review about the hot food section which are not good, but being vegan I pretty much will not get anything from the hot section but I did look at it and yes it did look underwhelming not many choices. Over all I don't mind visiting and get my self a salad or get something to cook with if I ever stay in that area again, but it was not anything to rave about either. read more

The people at the checkout just stand there and watch you pack up your own groceries. And I mean 20+ visits. For the money I think they should do better. Quality of produce hit and miss just meh. A small chain (Santa Barbara, Long Beach, Hermosa Beach, & San Diego) that some Santa Barbarians may scoff at but I say "Rise up. Reach out. Expand your options". But I digress. When it comes to quality, grass fed, organic, delicious, feel good foods, this is my go to. The prices are what I expect to pay but may be a deterrent. All I can say is "you get what you pay for". Lazy is for veg, animals, and simple/clean things in life mixed with Costco for toilet paper, TJs for the rest. I'm not a sweets guy but I hear the cookies are worth driving from Goleta for. My family usually comes here to get soups and fresh food on the weekend. This is one of our favorite store in town with lots of fresh and qualified products. Sadly, we did not get a good service that we deserve as customers. Cashiers need to be trained better as customer service. Last week I checked out with some items included a bowl of soup, I asked the cashier (I forgot his name but he looked like one of the supervisors with his behavior to other employees) a favor to tape the bowl of soup in case it spilled in the bag. He just did not answer me, then I asked him one more time, his eyes looked far away pretending did not hear anything. After all, he finally tape the top of the soup and of course without saying anything. I left with unpleasant feelings. Then I came back last Sunday March 23rd, once again I got soups for us and others products. When my family walked toward the counter of Jenifer B, she seemed not welcome us at all. When she scanned the 2 bowls of soup, I asked if she could tape the top of them and she didn't answer me, she just placed them in the bag anyway, so I asked again, she told my husband "Take them out" . He politely took them out for her to do it. Then my husband had to put everything back to the bag and she was just chilling there. I thought we were at the self check out. Once again we got an other terrible service just to ask for a tape on the bowl of soups? While so many times we went, other cashiers just did it anyway and we were so appreciative! Lazy Acres Santa Barbara is my home away from home. Hands down my favorite grocery store, I raised my children there from the day it opened. I used to frequent the salad bar, which is beautiful fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, no longer. After many years of trying to help the situation privately-I need to bring something to the attention of the management (which I have tried on several occasions) The employees who work the salad bar are not trained in basic food hygiene. They push the salad refill cart out with gloves on. Then, without bothering to change gloves they dip their hands into the salad refill bags and grab salad to fill the bins. They touch the spoons that everyone touches, and then with the same gloves...pick up pieces around the salad bins and throw them back in the containers. Additionally, with sneeze guard open-no masks, and breathing all over the cold fresh food. And the dirty used rag that wipes everything. I first noticed this about 4 years ago, and many times since...and discussed it with the management. Please please please train your salad people! It reflects on the management. It's a lovely salad bar which I will currently avoid. Btw-the hot food staff is much more careful in handling, for some reason-I have noticed. 2 stars for hygiene. 5 stars for the rest. read more

The best part of Lazy Acres is their organic chicken noodle soup, which comes from their central kitchens which they share with Bristol Farms. Unlike Bristol Farms, Lazy Acres needs much better management and the cashiers need much better supervision. The parking lot is steep and dangerous, and often very crowded. Huge fan of this business because it's like the old Whole Foods before Amazon wrecked it. They have all organic foods, very solid produce lineup, great looking seafood, lots of health products -- vitamins, supplements, etc. Prepared foods that are yummy and many vegan choices. Fajita bar. The crabby ones are still there but mainly we have had a better experience since earlier. The grocery selection has been good and consistent. I just love Lazy Acres so much! The quality of their meat, fish and produce - those avocados are incredible- never disappoints. Employees are friendly, knowledgeable and take their time to help with any questions. I also got a little bit of rice because when I scooped it, it was v hard they did have prepacked bowls for ~$12, but my friend said they had v little poke in them and it was mostly other add ons & rice. since this market is known to be on the pricier side, I guess the price of the poke is consistent with it, but I would def get it more often if it was cheaper still a great poke find and I would go again if I feel like splurging on poke read more

Hot food bar is pure evil, not exaggerating. gave it 5 chances. 5 times felt so poisoned by their there fish and chicken, the same symptoms nauseous and horrific headache for 2 days in a row after eating there. It was very much like a Trader Joe's but locally owned. Prices were very reasonable and every staff person made you feel like if you were part of their family of the company. Beautiful flower arrangements reasonably priced some of the items in here are shockingly pricey but for the most partAll pre-packaged goods were very affordable and great selection. My friend and I went to Lazy Acres late at night after we got off work. We ended up bringing our groceries to the front at 10:02 and a tall, blonde man with a buzz cut (probably a manager) yelled at us to "get the fuck out now"! This was both rude and uncalled for as we only came to the front a little late and while it is understandable that we could not get our stuff, he could have showed some manners or at least neutral rather than cussing and yelling at us.
