They have great organic produce! Especially their fruits! If you're craving a peach in summer, you can actually go there and find a nice ripe one that's ready to eat. That's pretty rare at most grocery stores these days. The employees are always very friendly and I love that they have the little tiny shopping carts for kids to help mom and dad with the produce shopping. Very cool and relaxed scene. read more

Although I grew up in Santa Barbara, I live a log way away now, in Canada. That didn't get in the way of a very successful a d satisfying but of business I did with Mesa Produce today. My mom turned 78 and I wanted to get her a bouquet from a place that sourced local flowers and produce. Mesa Produce proved to be a fantastic reao for this. Our conversation started via FB messenger and closed in the phone. The result was a colourful basket overflowing with local fruits and a bouquet diverse in form and colour. The result was a mom weeping with joy and a daughter brought close across thousands of miles. Thank you Jennifer who curated our transaction. Thank you to the woman who put the gift together. Sure, the Farmers' Market is fun, but when you need to pick up some produce on a regular basis, Mesa Produce is great! The staff is nice, knowledgeable and helpful. They have a good selection as well. read more

Mesa Produce offers organic produce and produce from local farmers that is pesticide free! Their flower cart is beautiful too, you can select each flower and create your own bouquet. They also have a very small selection of local goods (like cookies or oils), local eggs, and dried fruit. I love this place! read more

We live nearby and it's pretty amazing to basically have a farmers market 7 days a week so accessible. Staff is always friendly. I love that they take a long break in the winter - small business owners work so hard and often don't take much time off - but we miss them terribly during that time. read more

Nearly always have the vegetable or herb that I need. Nearly always have a wide organic selection. Friendly. Almost everything is available as Organic. The woman that runs the place, Jen, is knowledgeable when it comes to choosing produce. Do you use the red, brown or white onions for Indian food? What is fresh today and how do I cook that? The atmosphere really makes a difference, Mesa displays their produce like it is in a museum or something, they really care about produce here. I can safely say this is the highest quality produce in SB. You cannot get every produce item here, such as coconut, like you can at Tri-County produce, but Mesa is fresher and more local. The store feel is like an artisanal European fruit and veg stand in the country. read more

I thought I was doing the right thing shopping at Mesa Produce. I asked the knowledgeble clerk what their definition of "local" was. The reply was anywhere that could be driven from Santa Barbara in one day. He further said the range was "very broad". The most common definition of local you (used to) hear from local food system advocates is produce grown between 100-150 miles of the consumer or place of sale. read more

My boyfriend and I fell in love with this little store on our visit to Santa Barbara. They have some excellent quality produce, as well as things that may not be easy to find elsewhere. We picked up some spun strawberry honey and a vegan cookie. So delicious. The honey tastes wonderful and spreads beautifully on toast. The owner is super friendly and answered all of our questions about her place. If we lived around here, this would definitely be our go-to grocery. Fresh, tasty and affordable! read more

I love this store, friendly, knowledgeable, hard working, the cashiers know the prices. buying from local farmers and growers, prices are fantastic. The last day of 2010 at Mesa Produce was hysterical with tons of people respectively nudging and pushing to get the $5 a bag deal. The produce is always fresh and tasty. Organic and Non-Pesticide sprayed produce is in abundance. The staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. Hands down, the best place to buy produce in Santa Barbara (including farmer's market). I like the fact that I can come here any day of the week during store hours and get produce that is local, cheap, and fresh. Like the reviewer before me wrote, farmer's market can be fun to wander around in, but when I need something on a regular basis, this is the place to go. read more
