I ate breakfast here with my family on March 11, 2023. I tipped the waiter 20% in cash. I almost always tip well and always in cash. The waiter added another $10 tip to my credit card receipt after I left. I've left 2 voicemails for the manager/owner who has not returned my calls. This is a very dishonest operation. read more

Horrible service. Walked in and stood there for a few minutes to be seated. No one else was eating there. Had to walk around to find someone that worked there. Wasn't even sure it was open. The cook seated us and took our order. Food was decent. Nothing special. Another guy came in and seated himself. After about 10 minutes, he pokes his head in the kitchen to get service. The cook had to stop preparing our breakfast to come out and wait on this guy. Won't be going back. read more

Started our vacation experience with an excellent breakfast at Lazy Bear Restaurant. The menu offers some great choices. I had the smothered breakfast burrito and my husband had the green chili steak skillet, both of which, we would order again!! In town for a soccer game. (Soccer moms never get to stay home) wanted a healthy but filling lunch for the bottomless pit who's our soccer player and they delivered. Ended up ordering off the breakfast menu as it was too tempting to pass up. Lovely little place with great food and fast service. Son had the French Toast combo which was so huge it came on two plates and husband had a Greek Omelette. Who knew in a little town you could find a delicious omelette with perfectly cooked lamb, mild feta, and fresh spinach?! Fruit was fresh, bacon crispy, and eggs cooked fluffy but not overdone. Will definitely visit again. And please take time to appreciate how cute their light fixtures are. PS: the bathrooms are very clean. read more

So went in for lunch today and noticed all new faces and all booths are gone and only few tables inside. We waited very long for food. We ordered a Philly and nyssteak sandwich special. The Philly finally came and the pinions and peepers were not cooked. This was not Philly meat. It was terrible. There seasoned fries were not at all. The ketchup was cheapie available and was mostly vigor base. Terrible, shame. Am eras to be new ownership that really dropped the ball. Will never be back. read more

Hidden gem up the street from our first hike! Food was delicious, with various options! All top notch at that. The gentleman that helped us treated us amazing. Even shared with us some highlights and stuff to do. We took his first advice of visiting Glenwood caverns and that adventure park is a must visit. Lazy Bear is definitely a much appreciated addition to the valley as a mid-scale eating establishment. The place is nicely decorated, the staff is friendly and efficient and the food is delicious. The prices for dinner are fairly affordable and the Petite Filet Mignon is awesome, especially for the price! My husband likes their Blue Cheese Burger and Waffle Fries and the Jalapeño Poppers. I'm a creature of habit and order the Petite Filet every time. We did try breakfast for the first time this morning and even though it is a little pricy for breakfast, the French Toast was delicious and my husband really enjoyed the Breakfast Burrito. All in all, I'm excited to have a decent eatery so close to home. read more

Have to give this a one star which is what it deserves. Kids Spaghetti is terrible, no flavor 5 year old wouldn't touch it. Greek salad, not greek at all, just cut iceburg with feta sprinkled on it. My omelet so flat so tasteless it was not good. Good service, my advice .. this place is not the same and way over priced! 10.99 for an omelet is way to much for the quality or lack of quality you get! They need a new cook or this place wont be around for long. Wont go back. read more

This place used to be great, but the new owners clearly just don't care. We ordered breakfast and got drinks: two coffees and a Coke. Coffee was served with CoffeeMate creamer and when we asked for half-and-half the waitress said she would get some for us and completely forgot. I can understand, given that she was the only server in the entire establishment, but still, it's the standard that you get half-and-half instead of cheap watery creamer. The soda machine wasn't working, so instead of Coke we had to reorder something else. My meal of eggs benedict was served with one egg overcooked, with nearly tasteless hollandaise sauce, and about five strips of canadian bacon randomly placed on the plate. It was served with fruit (two chunks of old cantaloup on a browning lettuce leaf) and potatoes that were clearly frozen, served grey, cold and undercooked and covered in too much garnish to even be edible. Considered sending it back but I didn't want to put more stress on our poor waitress. Another person ordered french toast, and instead of the four pieces of battered french bread served by the old owners, it's been replaced by two slices of fried store-bought cinnamon and raisin bread. The bathroom didn't have soap and there were paper towels all over the floor. This has been the standard for the last few times I've come here. Last time there were flies and the floors were covered in dirt and food. I've given this place a few chances now and I will not be returning. read more

Yum! Came in for breakfast today and had the breakfast burrito (get it smothered with green chile and cheese!). The service was super fast and my meal was delicious. All the girls working here seem to either know their regulars, or treat everyone like they are regulars- a really nice small town place. They also have a nicely stocked bar and they do mimosas and bloody Mary's, as well as wine, beer, and mixed drinks. Great for breakfast and lunch. First off, the fact that there were tons of flies should have been the first clue to dine elsewhere. Good luck if you're a vegetarian, not many options. They don't even offer a veggie burger. There was a veggie skillet and an omelette, that's about it oher than a salad which they really need to work on. They really need to offer more veggie options. Ordered the Chef's Salad which turned out to be a glorified side salad. Iceberg lettuce, three slices of cucumber, two slices of tomato, a couple of mushrooms and some cheese. Was supposed to have a hard boiled egg but there was no egg. When I brought this to their attention, they cooked an egg and brought it out. Was extremely disappointed to be paying $11.99 for a portion that was smaller than many side salads elsewhere and for basically a plate of iceberg lettuce. My mom's burger and fries was cheaper than my little salad. If you're going to offer an entree salad, it needs to be entree size and have some substance to warrant the $11.99 price. Sorry to say but I would not recommend this place for more than a drink at the bar (if you don't mind the flies). read more

Great food, huge portions, unbeatable prices, beautiful atmosphere. If I were one of the other food places in New Castle (mediocre overpriced food), I would be worried. Can't wait to go back! We had calamari and split a huge $9 Greek salad. Plenty for both of us. Saw some burgers so by, two-handers for sure. Full bar, our lamb was perfect, didnt see one dish go back or hear one complaint. This place was a BIG disappointment! Ordered something simple fish and chips. I get fish that looks like it came out of the frozen section at the store . French fries with no ketchup on the table and then a salad they sit in front of me and don't offer any dressing!! Stopped here when the traffic was backed up on I-70. Thankful for Yelp and others reviews. Food was very good. Caesar salad, taco salad, burger with sweet potato fries all on the regular menu and better than expected for this small town. Other daughter had a special, red, white and blue French toast. I expected it to be covered in that canned syrup but to our pleasant surprise it was fresh blueberries and strawberries. Highly recommend. 4 1-2 stars!!!! read more

Opened by the former owner of the Haute Plate Bistro in Glenwood Springs, he continues with his most popular items, including his breakfast burritos and reuben sandwiches. He has added Expressos to his breakfast menu. The menu is classic breakfast such as egg & meat combos (including chicken fried steak), omelettes and skillets, pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. Lunch includes 7 different sandwiches, 4 salads, hamburgers, grilled salmon, roasted chicken breast, pasta and deserts including baked Alaska, creme brule, peach cobbler & chocolate cake. There are plans to open for dinner in the near future. We have eaten at the new location several times and love his food as much as we did in his previous restaurant. Update 11/16/13 - The menu has expanded and the kitchen has gotten even faster is producing great meals. Prime Rib has been a special the last 2 Fridays and my husband ate it both times. He is not easy to please, but we went back a 2nd time because he was hoping to get Prime Rib. read more

January 29, 2017 It's 7:20 am on a beautiful chilly Sunday morning. Only a few people out and about this morning. I'm starved, so I decided to try Lazy Bear Restaurant. There are some mixed reviews, so I wanted to try it out for myself. Wow! My breakfast was perfect! I ordered the French Toast Combo with scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, hash browns, and fresh fruit. The french toast was made with cinnamon bread, yum! The bacon, crisp as requested. The cantaloupe and strawberries were fresh and juicy. So, I'm giving 5 stars for a delicious breakfast and wonderful service by Ami. I will be back often. Thank you Lazy Bear Restaurant for helping me begin my day with such perfection. read more

I like it here. It has friendly staff and a welcoming environment. The food is inconsistent. Sometimes I've loved it, sometimes I haven't. The pasta is always good. My husband loves the weinersnitzel. It can be a little spicy for me. A couple times I've ordered chicken and it was dry and tough. read more
