Okay, these were seriously good. When I showed up around 10:30 on a recent Saturday morning, the air smelled of freshly frying donuts. It's always a good sign. And while there were donuts on the counter, when I asked if I could get any hot donuts the clerk went into the back and pulled out some steaming hot specimens. That may not sound like such a big deal, but as we say in this part of the world, it's huge. Hot apple cider donuts are so much better than their room temperature version. Which isn't to say that just because a donut is hot, it will be good. I've had my share of hot and disappointing cider donuts too. The hot apple cider donuts at Boehm Farm were delightful. Perfect? No. But absolutely great. And if you're into exploring the farms and orchards in and around the Capital Region, it's definitely worth your time, as I would put this small, off the beaten path orchard, in the top third of the ones I've visited. Maybe even in the top quarter. More than anything, it makes me think. If Boehm Farm has been hiding in plain sight all these years, how many other excellent orchards remain to be discovered by those relatively recent arrivals to the region? Farms! We've got 'em. And you should visit and support as many of our regional growers as possible. Remember: no farms, no food. Plus, they are charming and magical places. Especially in the fall.

Every year we always get a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from this farm. We have a cabin in the woods and must shower it with the lovely mums, annuals, and succulents! Everyone who works here is very kind, welcoming and generous. The HUGE hanging flowers usually $50-60 at Lowe's or Home Depot are only $35 here! The succulents are about $5.50 and the pots are $1-10 dollars based on size! I cannot rave enough about this farm and this community. We absolutely love it here for the past 11 years!

So my family went today and we got sashimi-grade salmon and scallops. The salmon was PHENOMENAL. We cooked half and ate the rest raw and it was probably some of the best salmon I have ever had. The cost of an entire HALF of fish and scallops was $50. You usually get 2 pieces of salmon sashimi for $5 at most Japanese restaurants, and it isn't guaranteed to be good. You need to get here before noon or call before noon and pick it up later since the workers get there really early and that's their quittin' time. Anyway, highly highly recommend. It was so good.

The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable.
