I have never ridden a horse unassisted in my life. I was a small child the last time I was on a horse. In two weeks Breanna had me grooming, cleaning hoofs, bridling, saddling, walking, and safely riding a horse with confidence under keen supervision. She is very patient, and her instruction is clear and concise. There is not a moment under her instruction that I felt unsafe. The horses that she chose to train me with where just as patient and understanding as she was. I have boarded horses at The Lazy T ranch for 30+ years there's nowhere that's better for horses and people, the environment is amazing! It's family friendly and everyone is always welcome to look at all animals and have a great time in a western setting..I have never seen anything like it and as soon as I get to the ranch, I feel like I am at home. I've been to 3 different events at this location and each time, the older gentleman who is the owner has just gotten worse. Seems like he is an old miserable man. He has absolutely no respect for anyone. He treats you as if you owe him the world and that you're just a big inconvenience to him. He will look at your face and use all kinds of profanity. Why this man or I should say, how this place still hosts events is beyond me. It's such a shame because the ranch is a really cool place to host an event but the owner just ruins the entire mood. Had my daughter's birthday party there, and all of our guests absolutely loved it. Everything was perfect, didn't have to worry too much about cleaning up because the owner Jay kept coming around and grabbing the trash, which I greatly appreciated. And even though it was a bit hot, the kids had a absolute blast. We just brought some cheap water guns and they went nuts! I had the best time too, I didn't have to worry about entertaining everyone, and I wasn't stressed. I just enjoyed myself also while the kids played. If I could give negative stars I would.... Unfortunately I had a very different experience than the rest of the people who have left reviews. The ranch is very interesting in itself, it came recommended from a source I trust. It has cool old vehicles and the animals, lots of character, the space is perfect, price is on point, it's DIY, so we had open range to do what we wanted, and everything was great. Besides Jay. We had our wedding there last weekend and leading up to the day of was fine, Jay is all over the place and hard to talk to, but he did agree that we had 24 the whole space for 24, we could come back and clean up the next morning and we could set up everything where we needed (just FYI, it is 100% DIY) everything was great. We were even there the Monday before with him confirming everything. Then the day of came, he got paid and everything change. First he had rented out half of the space to another party that morning, but justified it saying that our wedding started at 4 and that party would be over at 3, NOT OK, when he had told us that we get the entire space for the entire day, so that right there was enough that I should have ask for at least half my money back. From there it only got worse, We had to move the dance floor so that he could get his trucks past it, he complained where the tables where because he needed to drive past it, these things were NEVER brought up before. He started putting out decorations that we didn't ask for, and when my husband questioned it, his response was "well this is how we do it here", and then he was mad that he had to take them down, because again, nothing we wanted, or anything we had asked him to do. So aside from that, everything else (too many things to list here) my husband rolled with the punches and did what he had to, to make it work. Ceremony was great, right after the ceremony we were taking our family pictures where the ceremony was held and he came in and started kicking our families out of their seats while they waited for their turn to take pics, just so he could clean that area up right away, the area we had rented as WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF PICTURES. Rest of the night went OK, just awkward as him and another 2 people sat outside on his porch right next to the reception watching, the entire time of our reception, and even helped themselves to our food!! We had the space for the wedding from 4PM-10PM and at 9PM he asked if he could start cleaning up because "he didn't want to be out here all night" as his helper was already in the middle of taking down decorations we had put up...and then informed us that nothing could stay where it is because, again, he needed to get his trucks around and didn't want to run into anything. SO after our wedding was over and our guests were gone, my husband, my father in law, my sister and brother in law all had to help take down and put away everything. He (Jay) did have some one there to help clean up, who I will say was a lot easier to talk to than Jay, but he started throwing away silverware and napkins, I had to say things multiple times that we couldn't throw those away, they needed to be saved. But the kicker to the end of the night was this: there is a room there close by, that he calls the "Pool Room" and he allows you to store stuff in, so we had all of our personal items in there, purses, clothes, makeup and also including the gifts from guest. I walk into the room as Jay is in there grabbing the presents and walking out, I said "Where are you going with those' , "well I am taking all of this stuff out of here So I can close this all up!", So i say "ok, Jay please let us clean up in here, all of our stuff is in here" he turns around throws my wedding presents back on the ground and says "fine, you want to clean it up, then fine you do it!!!" I said "Jay, just let me clean up what we need to in here and we will be out", "No, you want to do it, then fine you do it!!!!" What kind of owner of a wedding venue snaps at the bride on her wedding day???? So needless to say I will not recommend this venue to anyone, ever. read more

Very upsetting!!! Racists comments made by the owner and thought he could take our kids on a hay ride after he had been drinking. Everyone could smell the alcohol as he passed us. Unacceptable!!! The ride is a part of the Birthday package and parents refused to let their kids go. Won't attend another birthday party here. read more

Today I stopped by to support a non profit horse rescue that was holding a fundraiser at the Lazy T. At first I thought the nostalgic western-themed ranch was delightful, however as the day went on I became very disappointed. Shocked even. I often write blogs on various happenings around town and as such, I try to maintain a low-key profile and observe quietly. It didn't take long for me to figure out who the owner of the ranch was as well as his apparent nephew who very clearly had imbibed enthusiastically at the event - so much so that he was seen bumping into guests and being asked by security to "take it easy." The owner was observed abruptly (and sans one iota of empathy) shutting down a last call pony ride after a mother and her daughter waited in line for well over an hour (mind you- she had already paid in advance for the ride), resulting in the poor young girl and mother leaving in tears. At another time, the owner was seen getting into some type of aggressive verbal altercation with some participants at the silent auction, and on SEVERAL other occasions was seen posturing and arguing with other patrons and volunteers. All in all- what I thought would be a lovely cross between an episode of American Pickers and a vintage western movie turned out to be more of a psychiatric horror show. The Lazy T looks neat; the owner on the other hand is clearly just lazy at recognizing his utter lack of interpersonal and managerial skills. read more

This was the second time we threw a birthday party here for our kids and it will definitely be the last. And it is ashame because my kids had a great time. Jay (the Owner) made an extremely racist comment to my sister. She was lost and went to the wrong area of the ranch and he appoches her and asked if she was looking for the 2:00pm party. She said no I'm looking for the party that started at 4:00pm and Jay said oh really? Cause that's a Mexican party with a bunch of gangsters and a very inappropriate comment that I can not even repeat........my sister was in shock of what just came out of his mouth and said excuse me that is an extremely racist comment. He apologized and another women that witness the entire conversation told her to just ignore him .... another huge issue I want everyone to be aware of is the fact that both times we booked here you can smell the alcohol coming from Jay's breath. There is clearly an issue there which is why we refused the hay ride. Please be cautious in allowing him behind the wheel with your loved ones as passengers. read more

Early in 2005, I arrived at Lazy T Ranch with my stud colt. I've been there ever since. It's a second home for a lot of us. Boarders are treated like family. The stalls are cleaned everyday. The ranch Manager keeps a close eye on the horses and their health. We have parties for every occasion. It's a great place to socialize or just hang out with your horse. I went to Palmdale California a few days ago... I called popular Lazy T Ranch. The friendly voice made us an appointment to ride ponies that day. We drove two hours to get there. We saw the Poppy reserve and we headed to the Ranch... When the attendants saw us... a Mexican and an Asian Family... they scrambled to hide and gave us the run around... Everybody pointed to other people and made us walk from one area to the other to find the "right person". Even finding the right man, he said it was not him in charge of it. After 30 minutes of trying to get the horse riding service, we left the Ranch very disappointed... We enjoyed the Poppy Reserve and the Palmdale Blackbird Air Park.. I do business in Palmdale from time to time and they are always friendly... Management should look into this....Beautiful and Historical Ranch!! read more
