Amazing experience! I would like to start by thanking the amazing staff for the lovely job they did with the kiddos. We were invited to a Birthday party and was very happy with this ranch. The staff was great they made our daughter feel safe and confident with her horse riding lesson and experience. We recommend this place 100%. Our 12 year son surprised us one day by asking for a horseback riding lesson. A quick Yelp search led us to Red Velvet Ranch. Nestled in a horse loving neighborhood, Red Velvet is a hidden gem! It's a family owed business with Elena offering personalized lessons that are more than just riding in a circle. Our son leaves ever lesson excited about new skills and knowledge. The riding lessons are fantastic and confidence building; the grooming, tack, and care sides are foundational to a lifetime of horsemanship. I booked a group trail ride for me and my 11 year old daughter and it was such a great experience. They were responsive and helpful and had a calm welcoming atmosphere. My daughter had never ridden before so Elena was right by her side and they set her up for success with a sweet horse. We had such a great time getting to see the area and talking about Elena's experiences with horses. My daughter wants to learn to ride and if we lived closer this would be the place to do it for sure. We even received pictures from the owners right after the ride which was such a treat and unexpected. We will be back for a visit and another trail ride in the future. They take Venmo, Zelle but not credit cards directly which is good to know before you go. read more

It has been many years since I rode and had always wanted to take lessons again. Although I had a lot of apprehension, Elena helped me to take it slow and explained everything to me. It has been such an incredible experience and I can't wait to get to my lesson each week. Elena teaches the importance of understanding the horses, how to properly care for them and how to communicate with them gently as your ride. A Stress-Free Way to Connect with Horses. Looking for a way to connect with horses without the stress? Want to have your own horse without the cost of buying? Our horses are available for lease or partial lease for intermediate to advanced riders. We also have space to board your horse if you do own. Group events also available, with advance booking. We are half a block from several trails and have round pen as well as large paddock for turnout.

History

Established in 2021.

Our passion for horses and Elena's enthusiasm for teaching led us to establish our ranch for riders. With a diverse group of horses that enjoy trail riding and helping riders learn, we felt it was important to share the beauty of the hills with others. Our goal was to offer affordable instruction and trail rides, knowing from our years of experience as riders in Los Angeles how expensive these activities can be in many places. We also wanted to offer instruction and trail rides at a price that was affordable as having been riders in L.A. for decades, we know how steep the prices are for these activities in so many places.

Kathy & Liz were our guides and my horse was Eros. They give you a helmet to wear on the ride and then help you up on the horses & start the ride. The horses were well behaved and knew exactly where they were going and followed in a line. It was a beautiful day for a ride and I had a great time! After the ride you can feed the horses carrots.

Ok so we wanted to try a new park, so I gather up the kids and we head over. This park has a kids…read moresplash pad (I assume is open during the summer months.) The playground has a large rocket which is at least 30 feet high! It includes two totally enclosed tube slides and another 2-4 lower slides. In fact it was so tall I was afraid my 2-4 yo's would be too scared to go up to top, but nope! It took them 2 to 3 times walking up the stairs to gather the courage, but once they did it trying to get them off the slide to put on jackets became more of an issue. We had a water gun fight, ate some snacks and they played til they were wore out. I heard this isn't the grandest neighborhood, although I didn't experience any issues, I am not familiar enough with the AV area to give a honest opinion: good or bad about that so know that my star rating is based solely on my experience inside the park not the neighborhood. The pluses for me was that they had a clean play area and the splash zone is right next to the two grounds. One set is for say 5 yo and up and a more milder toddler area all in same eye path, so you could easily watch two sets of kids. There is a lot of grass areas so you can camp out, have a picnic and make it a day trip with young ones. There is ample parking with a well lit lot. The soccer and other fields were brightly lit so you can play organized sports at night. What I did have a issue with is: The playground isn't lit up at night. (see pics below) which I truly don't understand. We waited thinking that the timer hadn't spring forward with time, but after looking around noticed two things the light structure is set for a dim yellow almost amber light while all the fields have super bright white lights and that one light was actually on so the other 2-3 lights just hadn't been maintained! Shame on parks and rec to not thinking of the safety of children especially during spring time when families are coming back out in larger groups. And next a question for parks and rec. Why does the playground where our most precious gems would play have the dimmest lights? You are putting children at risk of falling, being touched or hit inappropriately or worse (use your imagination!) This should be the brightest lights the park has not the darn soccer field. How is any mom and/or dad going to go let the little ones play while waiting for their older ones to finish up a practice or game with little to no lights? That needs to be addressed ASAP!!! and that is the reason my rating is only a 3 star, because I think that dusk time visits would be unsafe for most families.

They were very nice and accommodating. It was a very fun and relaxing day. The horses seemed very obedient and well trained. There was no point where I felt unsafe. Trainers seem very knowledgeable and it seems as though this would be a great place to learn a wealth of knowledge about horses, not just riding but how to work with and interact with horses.
