Honestly, we were very disappointed in both the food and the service and the restaurant was basically empty. The French onion soup was delivered cold as were the short ribs. For the prices this is just unacceptable. In addition, their American Express machine was not working so we had to use a different card. I visited this restaurant many times in the 1990s when it was new but it had opened and closed, and likely changed hands many times since then. I wanted to give the new ownership a chance, but for me they failed miserably and I will not return. Le Bistro will really need to improve its game if it wants to compete with the many fantastic restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but what happened at Le Bistro Restaurant on July 11, 2026, around 5:30 PM, was something I cannot ignore. My fiancée and I were eating when we noticed insect larvae inside the food -- not just contamination, but actual growth happening in the dish placed in front of us.Seeing that made us feel sick, unsafe, and honestly betrayed as customers. No one expects to find larvae in their meal, especially at a restaurant in such a popular area. It completely ruined our evening and left us worried about our health.I hope the restaurant takes this seriously, because no customer should ever have to experience something like this. read more

Last night had an 8:30 reservation. Restaurant was not busy when we arrived and very helpful with one member of our foursome that needed direction with the accessible entrance. Live music was playing when we arrived. Great drink options and had a great glass of sangria. The food options were plentiful. So many options for appetizers and entrees. Ended up ordering the mango stone crab salad and the lobster potstickers as my entree. Both were appetizers but both sounded so wonderful. Both equally delicious. Mango Crab salad could definitely be shared. Flavors for the lobster potstickers was incredible. Finished with the apple tart served with vanilla ice cream. Truly a hidden gem in PV. The service was impeccable and very friendly. Came in for drinks and the screwdrivers were amazing. The fresh OJ is so good. Luxurious decor and conveniently located along the river and market as well as swinging bridge. Came here for a break from the heat and got refreshments. We travel to pv 2-3 times a year and we've had good food but le bistro was really incredible the food was great but I must say the service was far above my expectations. This is a hidden jewel. We happened upon it while taking a stroll. Premium service from the manager, Bruno. Loads of ambience, good food, live entertainment, and it wasn't terribly expensive. We wanted a nice meal in a great location and the scenery did not disappoint. The service was excellent and even though the river wasn't flowing due to dry conditions the view was nice. To complaints from our party was that the lemon drop martini contained little to know alcohol and despite being a bistro, they only had one type of steak available, which was filet mignon. I really get a taste or hunger for meat but tonight I did, and was disappointed that the portion was so small. We had breakfast and enjoyed the quiche very much. I wish it didn't have salad because it had no dressing etc . Also ordered the basic eggs and bacon which was very small but ok. The really odd part was that as we left the host followed us out and asked us why we took their hand towel (it's given upon being seated). The location and ambiance were great. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. And the food was amazing! Started with the lobster potstickers which were very tasty and could tell they were made in house. I had the filet (great cut of meat and cooked perfectly), and my mom had the Braised Boneless Short Rib. We also tried two of the desserts, the Arroz Con Leche & Tarte Tatin. Both were great. To start 2 had the French onion soup and 2 shared the grilled octopus. The octopus was grilled perfectly. Not tough and just the right amount of seasoning. Honey glazed salmon,duck enchiladas,crab stuffed snapper and the gnocchi all were beyond wonderful. To end the night shared tiramisu and the chocolate and caramel tart. The service was incredibly poor. It took better than twenty minutes to get water. Several common wines on the menu were not available. The pace of service was glacial. Let's start by walking in... the place is absolutely gorgeous. I felt like we were transported to a totally different place. The service however was a bit unorganized. The bread didn't arrive until the entrees. The appetizer, porcini ravioli (2 orders) was served twice .. yes, we turned down the second one. No one knew who ordered what etc.... Just bad communication with the kitchen. We also ordered a bottle of red wine for the table which was great. When we asked for a second bottle, the server told us they were out of that bottle and offered a really inferior one to replace, so we picked another bottle instead... unfortunately about 10 minutes passed with the same result so while my friend should have just said forget it, we finally got that second bottle .. after our meal was over. .... Food itself was average. The sauces accompanying my shrimp dish with polenta were excellent, but the shrimp was a bit fishy tasting unfortunately. When one pays for a fine dining experience, I expect more. Dessert of the warm apple tart was good, but didn't pair well with that second bottle of wine we should have sent back. read more

Beautiful setting and delicious food. I had the red snapper filet, pan seared to perfection on a bed of potato purée, quinoa and beets. Fabulous. My husband had seared scallops with rosemary risotto, squash asparagus and corn. He loved it. Paired with espresso martini and a glass of wine. I cannot speak for the food, as we spent a couple of hours here in the afternoon having drinks. It's HOT here in July, and we were perched under the trees outside along the river. We were in the shade and breeze, which made the heat tolerable. It's off season, so they weren't busy, so we pretty much had the places to ourselves. It was a beautiful patio that made for a nice romantic setting. (OK, the drinks probably helped too). :) BONUS- I'm usually someone the mosquitoes have as a smorgasbord but not one single bite! read more

I will admit, I got this place confused with the River Cafe a block away, but I wasn't disappointed too much! I loved the atmosphere, it was very quiet despite being by a busy road, and we sat near the river. I kept thinking there was a piano player, but I think they just had good speakers? The menu was not extensive, and was a fusion of different cultures. Someone in my party got a burger, which felt really weird while being Mexico, but they reported that the burger was excellent. Chicken sandwich was great, and the seared tuna was amazing. Margaritas are very strong prices are pretty good too! read more

An absolutely beautiful restaurant overlooking the river. White tables, soft jazz music, and excellent service. Very quiet and romantic. We only ate breakfast here, but liked it so much we came back the next day as well. My husband said it was some of the best eggs benedict he's ever had. All for only $6.00. I had the American breakfast with bacon and eggs, hash brown, and a fruit cup for $5.00. It was delicious and the portions are very generous. Plus, a large freshly squeezed OJ is only $1.50. A nice bonus was they serve you a shot of a freshly blended green drink made of cucumbers, basil and mint that was delicious. I highly recommend this place for breakfast if you want to get away from the noisy touristy restaurants. Next time, we will have to try it for dinner. read more

Nestled along the river with sounds of the water flowing by. This gem is a must try. We popped in after walking most the morning. So relaxing and a great setting. Extremely affordable and delicious. My husband went out of his comfort zone and ordered the shrimp burger which was beautiful and delicious. I had the tortilla soup which was also very good. Every was presented artfully and the staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back. They do have live music every night at 6. The restaurant is closed Mondays. read more

The food was good the prices were exceptional and ambiance was amazing. It's regrettable how a waiter can ruin an experience. I sat down and said Buenos Dias to the waiter ...he asked if I wanted coffee. When he re-filled it I said thank you..... crickets. When I left I sad gracias I got a head nod. The avocado omelette was light and clean, not too oily and not too cheesy and a 100 times better than any other place in PV that serves eggs. The Hawaiian pancakes were to die for! Super fluffy, filled with bananas and topped with coconut flakes and chocolate (basically, all the good stuff!) Generally, the food here is higher quality and service is great! Bonus points for the location too, as you dine next to the river and trees with birds chirping. Would definitely recommend for breakfast! read more
