Thanks to Yelp, we found Azul for breakfast. We were greeted by a wonderful kind woman. When we first entered the A/C was off, but this lady flipped the A/C on for us, making for a pleasant experience. There's also outside seating. Food was very good and so was service from the friendly staff. We loved the green juice and the naranjada. The naranjada is orange juice blended with seltzer water. I opted for a bacon omelet. It came with fresh fruit (papaya, pineapple and cantaloupe) and mashed potatoes. The creamy mashed potatoes were fantastic. I also ordered a side of frijoles (refried beans) They were nice and chunky but very spicy. My omelet was a tad dry and needed more cheeses. Still, we will definitely come back. read more

Wonderful! Tucked just off the busy Basilio Badillo, this cafe is a relaxing respite from the crowds. Their French toast is truly delicious and plentiful. Slightly custardy on the inside and crisp on the outside. Their regular coffee was flavorful and smooth. Also, the green juice gets you the nutrients you need. Service was attentive and friendly. We are in Puerto Vallarta 2 weeks a year and at Azul Bistro at least 3-4 times. They never fail to deliver great food, good service in a comfortable environment. This year we see a lot of remodeled and expanded space so they can seat a few more people with a larger kitchen. The fresh juice is always a great starter. They have probably the best pancakes in town. I ordered chilaquiles with green sauce and beef, sadly the mole sauce was sold out or I would have gone with that. Azul is a cute family-run breakfast place with tables outside on the sidewalk and indoors with A/C. The grandmotherly woman is always busy seating people and taking orders, yet is still friendly. She never made us feel rushed even when a crowd starts arriving. I've been coming to Azul for several years, but in the high season the wait line can get long. Luckily this past week we never had to wait. We ended up eating here 3 times in a week! I've had the Omelet Vegetariano several times and she remembered I didn't want asparagus. I'm not vegetarian, so I add a crispy bacon side. The Bienedictos Mexicanos was also quite tasty with arrachera. Fruit came with our meals, fresh cut mangos, cantaloupe and pineapple. I asked for hot sauce, picante, and out came fresh spicy red salsa and some truly hot green sauce. Yum! The coffee is delicious, hits the spot, and constant refills are offered. The fresh-squeezed orange juice is great, and the green drink is amazing too. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Sometimes the simplest food does taste the best. read more

The Best Chilaquiles I've Ever Had! We met Caesar the owner and his recipes are to die for! His Mole sauce is what the chocolate mole lovers search for. We went with friends and all got chilaquiles with a different sauce. One had poblano, one rojo, I had chipotle...it was sooooo good! So good in fact we went back for our last meal in town before heading home! Beautiful little place, so clean and the staff is so friendly and attentive. The Chilaquiles is amazing as well as the atmosphere. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery and absolutely delicious. The refried beans were other worldly and have ruined every other refried beans for me. There are extra spices in the beans that just elevate them to a whole other level. Azul is still amazing. All the staff is still there from a year and a half ago. Great seeing MeMe again. Chilaquiles still top notch. Jazz playing, and a couple of outdoor tables. It blows my mind that there were open seats here and the more popular tourist spot around the corner was packed. This is a darling little hole in the wall off the main strip that you would never usually notice. We only knew about it because we stayed across the street at the apartment building there. We were in PV for three nights. We absolutely love walking around the romantic zone. We came across this cafe next to a coffee shop we had been to in a prior trip. I swear I would eat at Cafe Azul every morning. The best chilaquiles ever. The potatoes and beans that come with them are just as amazing. The green juice is out of this world good and Esmerelda or "mi mimi" (probably botching the spelling) is so amazing. She was so kind and loved speaking with her. The service is awesome, the coffee is great and overall I would go back again and again. Especially for the chilaquiles con pollo e chipotle sauce. The service was amazing with a very sweet waitress and we even spent time talking with the owner who recommended us another amazing restaurant for dinner. Although the breakfast looks terrific, I wanted to give a disclaimer and let you know we came for lunch! Although they don't have a lunch menu, they will set you up for a terrific off the menu lunch. I had the chicken Alfredo which wasn't bad but each family member had the 3 different chicken enchiladas they offer and they were all terrific! Mole was made from scratch from a lady from Puebla. The green and red enchiladas were tasty! If I ever go back to Puerto Vallarta, will definitely be making a stop here to try the breakfast as the lunch made a great impression. read more
