Located in the old Bank Building it has a good choice of dining in or outside. Most people come for the pastries and desserts but lunch is a favorite. Ordered the sweet potato and capsicum soup - this is a winter staple, served with two bread rolls. It is excellent and they do run out - been disappointed when arrived late. The coffee is good - would not say great but it is a French cafe, after all. There are other food choices but very limited gluten free options - the macaronis are gf except the cookies & cream. The desserts speak for themselves.

The only thing that's Australian about this place is its address. If I were blindfolded, flown to Brisbane, taken to Le Bon Choix with the blinds closed, I would have thought someone kidnapped me to Paris. The décor is typical clean delicate French. The employees all have a French accent, and the desserts are what you would see in the myriad of bakeries lining Champs-Elysees. Initially, Le Bon Choix didn't impress too much. When you walk in, all you see is simple pastries and sandwiches. However, as you walk around to the north side of the shop, you will see rows upon rows of delicately crafted and stunningly vibrant individually sized cakes. Most notable are the following two: - L'Esperance: Smooth coconut mousse, filled with crunchy chocolate pearls, laced with passionfruit jelly - Bamboleo: Mixed fusion of mango mousse, passionfruit and banana jelly If you haven't noticed, I have an affinity for passionfruit. When you bite into one of these, it's like the sweet and receptors and sour receptors in your taste buds are dancing to the Blue Danube Waltz. Each of the cakes is so delicately fluffy it feels like you're biting into a cloud. Words don't do it justice. Pictures might help, but there's nothing like the experience itself. No wonder almost every travel website on Brisbane lists Le Bon Choix as one of the top cafes in town.

I went to Le Bon Choix for a coffee and treat after brekkie on my last day in Brissie and what a brilliant call that was! I love it!.. Love it!!! Love it!!! It's at 379 Queen Street so about a 10 minute stroll from the CBD and, with all the offices and shops closed in this part of town on Sunday, it's pretty quiet but it's ok.. kind of a nice change if you think about it.. Le Bon Choix is very 'French' all the way - the interior is quite vibrant with the white walls going well with the white tiles and the whole place just feels very fresh.. The counter and display are at the centre so you can walk around and feast your eyes on all the delicious bread and treats on offer. All of the staff were french when we went and we were greeted with a pleasant smile followed by a Bonjour. The girl who served us was great - attentive, warm and very nice. My flatwhite was quite good and I also had a Lenette (White chocolate mousse with a pear and honey jelly and chocolate brownie) which was abso-freakin-lutely awesome! Tell you what though.. I had all sorts of trouble choosing what to get.. They all looked delicious - the Akina (12 layers of chocolate, mint tones, mousse and cake), the eclairs!, Lucie (Combination of a coconut dacquiose and a light strawberry mousse) to name a few and I had struggled big time to refrain myself from going for seconds! Le Bon Choix is not just about sweet treats though. They also Turkish, Sourdough, Ciabatta and baguettes. The ham and salad baguette and Croque Monsieur looked great. This place is a definite must-try. I can't wait until my next trip - Vanilla Eclairs.. We'll meet again...

Just like a Parisian cafe -- literally. Le Bon Choix is a neat copypasta of an average Parisian cafe in the heart of Brisbane CBD. After reading some rave reviews, I stopped by one Tuesday afternoon. The counter is clean and white with the tarts behind clear perspect. The staff greet you with a Bon Jour in a thick French accent. Be sure to BonJour back, it's the polite thing to do. The decor is very Paris. All the way down to the chairs outside which look identical to any Parisian cafe on the seine. Perhaps it was the time of day, but the Eclair I ordered was rather average. The pastry was dry and only half filled with creme. Disappointing for $7 a pop. The Lucie, a smokestack of raspberry mousse, was adequate but I was left wanting. The coffee was smooth and delicate, and served with a glass of water, a very European custom that cafes everywhere should adopt. If you're a francophile, save yourself the airfare to Europe and give this place a go.

The city is quite literally overflowing with places where you can get a coffee and something to eat. You would then think that they are all the same then and that you choose one by what ever is closest to where you work or happen to be walking at the time you want a coffee. I am glad to say that luckily this is not the case and i for one am glad that its not because that would make life far to boring. Le Bon Choix is great place to have a morning or lunch time coffee and due to its location is frequented by the masses who work in the CBD. This is for good reason because for the time you there you can pretend as if you have escaped to Paris with one of their many French inspired pastries. And yes they do a mean croissant which should go with out saying. The coffee is good as well so even if you are just in need of a morning pick me up Le Bon Chiox s great.

Oh Le Bon Choix, how I love your Chocolate Eclairs. On a summer's day, I sink my teeth into one, tasting first the sweet icing, then the slightly savoury choux pastry and finally, out oozes the cool chocolate filling. I've been told by a Frenchie in Brisbane that Le Bon Choix is the best patisserie--better than Chouquette in Newfarm, and better than French Twist--and I would have to agree. It has a huge range of pastries, sweet things and breads and is well-equipped with indoor and outdoor seating. It's true that Le Bon Choix is "the right choice".

    The "small" sampling I purchased.

If you want a great dessert this is the place.. the place seems to run out of selections so get there early you won't be disappointed. I got a selection of desserts. The caramel cake was my favorite. The staff was helpful in giving recommendations and very knowledgeable. The coffee side was also very tasty. Definitely will be stopping here again before we leave.

Really nice establishment. Their menu is very lofty with so many choices. Had the Bacon Quiche that was so flaky and flavorful. A decadence if awesome treats for the sweet tooth too. Must stop in.

Beautiful Flat White and possibly the tastiest almond croissant ever. The staff were friendly and the outdoor seating is shady.

She loved it! The bartender was great and nervous about creating a drink for me. We went with a pineapple chili vodka with a touch of mint. Yum! It needs some fine tuning but the foundation is set. We were having a great time and as if beer to vodka wasn't enough, we moved right along to tequila! Yes, some quality tequila and verdita. I'm a huge fan and they explained to us how quality tequila is for sipping. We didn't want to leave but the time had come. Thankfully, I know I'll be coming back very soon. Thanks for a great Introduction.

Instead, I saw the sign for Bean, and having passed it several times, I thought, hey, why not walk through this shady looking garage and dumpster (looked like one) and see what's up? I walked up to a chalked door and a short flight of stairs down into a kitschy, cute, nicely air conditioned cafe, and was greeted by a really eccentric but friendly barista. I was just looking for a cuppa to-go, but was rather tempted to plant myself and look around. The cafe isn't big, but there is a good amount of table space, either to study at or to play the many board games that this place houses! I was quite pleased at their game selection of Cluedo, Scrabble, Jenga, and more! This is also one of the few cafes in Brisbane that provide free wi-fi. So much win! As for the coffee, I've only had their skinny latte, which I do enjoy. For Brisbane, it is definitely good - a bit bold, but not overly dark, like I find the places around here. The coffee has a bit of a fruity or nutty aftertaste - I can't quite tell (must have it again!), but I would definitely have it again. I wasn't sure if they had food to offer, as I only saw some cupcakes on display, but it looked like they might serve sandwiches... Alleyway cafes seem to be very characteristic of Brisbane's hip cafes, and although my friends know me to always find these places with shady entrances, quite a few of them turn out to be good, if not intriguing! All in all, this is one of my favorite places so far - the ambience, board games, free wi-fi, and the barista!

I'm sure there'll be more over time. There's a few alternative music magazines on a table for reading. As a fan of hardcore music, I like this place a lot down to the graffitied walls and pin-up art. The music is loud and heavy and I like it. I can imagine a few people would complain. Not the place to come for a meaningful conversation or to write your novel. Death Before Decaf is the latest addition, located on Brunswick Street New Farm, open for about 1 week. The name describes how I feel and react when I hear people order "Decaf". Seriously? It's like ordering chocolate, and asking don't add the chocolate. Death Before Decaf is the kind of place Brisbane needs, because its open 24/7, and we don't too have many places, if any, open for the long haul to service the needs of an ever demanding caffeine addicted public. The décor is edgy, with a twist of tattoo, punk, metal, street, and some cool graffiti-esque artwork on the wall. The vinyl, posters of hardcore metal, skateboards adorning the wall, all add to their rockstar feel. The comfortable leather couch and deer head on the wall seems out of place and more at home at a venue like Alfred & Constance, but I like the over-all aesthetics of the place. They serve Bellissimo Coffee (The Ultimo), which I actually drink at home too, so I do like the coffee. Due to the limited seating available, this place works well for take-away coffees, and at $3.50 for a small sized cup, is well worth it. Hardcore heavy-metal music isn't my thing, but I'm still a fan of Death Before Decaf. Good news is that Snacks will make their way to the Death Before Decaf counter in the coming months, so looking forward to that!
