Their menu shows alcohol content and their notes. Appetizers only before 5pm, which is what we had. We had the chili appetizer and the French onion soup, and potato wedges with in-house mayo. Chili app was served more on the solid side and served with nacho chips and fixins. Think not of traditional chili soups, but rather chips and dip! French onion soup was rich in flavor, topped with crusted bread and cheese. Our potato wedges were broiled and their mayo was good. Service was friendly and efficient and fast. Interior is casual, clean and comfortable. Would recommend giving this place a shot for a quick drink!

I suspect most of the reviews are based off the beer list and not the food. Let me say service is impeccable and our waiter was amazing. I ordered the cider which was amazing and not sweet but tart. My son ordered the burger and I had the chicken roll for lunch. Both items came with a salad that was delicious. The burger and chicken roll fell short. My son's burger was dry and not flavorful and I could've made myself a much tastier chicken salad at home..... the four stars is definitely for the service and beer. They need to up the food game, but overall a pleasant experience

It was empty when we arrived so we had our choice of seating, and our server was pretty patient with us while we figured out what to eat. Considering it was us and two other people at the bar, I feel like the service could've been faster, but we weren't in any hurry and when we did place our food order it was brought right out to us. I have seen reviews of this place where others have mentioned that it's not English speaking friendly, but in our experience that wasn't true. To be fair we did communicate in French, but of course English is easier for us to speak. Overall vibes of the place are pretty eccentric with a kind of rock and roll grunge vibe but they also had totems and other decorative pieces that gave a nod to Quebec's Native American people which was cool to see!

In the states, this would have been a non event and unless we all did not physically fit in the pub we would have been allowed in. Here it was a bit different. The person at the door told us that we all had to wait outside while they prepared an area for us. Waiting outside in the cold seemed ridiculous. When I pushed the issue she finally let us in and it was hard to see what the hold up was and why we were told to wait ouside in the first place. There was a solid music group performing and there was a nice selection of drinks and food on the menu.

At Buvett Scott…read moreI knew when our host brought us to our seats at the end of the bar (which we had reserved). They were right next to the large pick-up window looking into the kitchen, and our host then said "These are the people who will be preparing your dinner", and introduced us to each person in the kitchen... by name. This is a very small place, cozy and atmospheric. If there are just two of you, sitting at the bar is the way to go. It's where you really feel the vibe and see what makes this place so special. The food is off the hook, and changes so frequently that it's pointless for me to highlight specific dishes. We had an amazing charred broccolli, a seasonal morel dish, razor clams, and unique egg mayo concoction. Doesn't matter. the food will be exceptional whatever they are serving. Thier Michelin Bib Gourmand (exceptional food at reasonable prices) designation is well deserved. But if the soul of Buvette Scott is the food, the heart is Marine, who appeared to be the only server on duty while we were there. She is a transplanted Brit (I believe), with a quick smile and a sassy outlook. Even as busy as she was, she had the time to engage us and make us feel like we were old friends. Stories were told, laughing was had. We were the last two left from the first dinner seating that day, and Marine and part of the kitchen team sat at the bar with us as we finished and shared insights about Quebec City and how they ended up there. Rarely have I felt so comfortable and at home in a place I have never been before. Really good restaurants serve up really good food... But truly great restaurants provide an experience that impacts you on many levels, and holds a place in your memory. Buvette Scott is a truly great restaurant.

We came right before the main dining hours so we were able to enjoy the place to ourselves for a short time, but this place filled up in a blink of an eye. By the time we left it was completely full. I ate here with my family and we got to try a variety of dishes. We got the lasagna, the mushroom soup, French onion soup, salad nicoise, and my favorite cigare au choux which is essentially cabbage rolls with tomato soup. I enjoyed each and every dish, but the cigare au choux stole my heart. The service was also fantastic! The woman who helped us was so sweet and patient as my family decided on what to eat. If I ever come back to Quebec City I would definitely dine here again!

All the tables were filled but we were asked to sit at the bar , order a drink and see if a tables opens up. We were fortunate a table became available within a few minutes. We asked our waitress for food recommendations and we went with her recommendations- shepherd's pie and lasagna. It was interesting to watch the food being prepared in the oven/stove behind the bar. The food was very good . The shepherd's pie was true comfort food. It was meat with corn filling and topped with mashed potatoes. It was baked and the potatoes were browned. The lasagna was hearty. Each were served with a side salad. This was a great place to enjoy a meal and drink in an interesting atmosphere.

Have these people never had a burger before? There's nothing wrong with the burgers here, but there's also nothing right about them. They're burgers. Meat, bread, lettuce, sauces..yep. It's a burger. And it's okay. Bland and by-the-book to a fault. It tasted liked they perfected the art of having minimal flavors and ingredients, as if they were weighing the taste of each in a highly technical way. I forgot I even went here by the next day and was only reminded by pictures I took. It's basically the Quebecois version of whatever one step up from an Applebee's would be, but with a premium price tag and hype. Any other burger in town would probably be just as good if not better. Side was pretty bad. Basically burnt tofu. Service was lacking, but there. I was tended to in the most basic 'there's another table to get through' way possible. Check took a long time to get to me and I ended up just walking up to the counter. Not sure why. There weren't a lot of people there. Tons of seating and a pretty nice view, although that's hard to not have in Quebec City. Can't recommend it with so many other options and delicacies not all that far away. Don't go out of your way to come to this place. Location: 4* Convenience: 2* Service: 1* Product/quality: 3* Aesthetics: 1*
