Bonjour! First time to be in this city of our polite neighboring country and we enjoyed every moment of it. This our first stop meal for the weekend trip and it didnt disappointed us. The food is great, served hot and fresh, and the portions are perfect for us. Actually, we over ordered thinking it will be a small portion. The staffs were nice and attentive. Bathrooms are so far the cleanest weve been seen so far for this trip. We highly recommended to set your reservation ahead of time for it gets crowded on a weekend and theres a waiting line. read more

This place is yummy & cozy & scenic. We had great service. Our request was very quick since we only had minutes to catch the bus but nevertheless they delivered swiftly & deliciously. That was the best pudding I've had in my lifetime so far. This dish is good for 2 people to share & we finished it all. If I ever come back, it's definitely a vibe to really just take your time with everything you do in Quebec City. We were seated under the hanging umbrellas, it was very nice. read more

We picked this place because it says they had gluten free pizza on the menu out front, turns out they didn't. For me that's okay, but my plus one ended up with the gluten free pasta. She may have won this round as the sauce on the pasta was excellent while my pizza was rather average. I was excited to try beef cheek pizza, that's a new one for me. It was alright but not amazing. Service is okay, our water was refilled,and we actually got a few pieces of ice. It was kinda expensive for what it was, felt a bit touristy in price, like $30 each without tax or tip. read more

They have some Quebec staples like poutine and foie gras, and a selection of 10" pizzas available. We came here for lunch and each had a French onion soup. I had a Shack's Poutine by myself, while my mom and dad shared a beef cheek pizza. The French onion soup was a bit salty. I find it intriguing that multiple establishments in Quebec City kept mentioning their onion soups as the "best in town", including this one. This one was good, but I'd give Chez Boulay the crown from all the places I tried. The poutine, on the other hand, was excellent. Will never say no to plentiful cheese curds, and I don't mind foie gras at all. My parents enjoyed the beef cheek pizza, particularly highlighting the BBQ sauce and the smoked beef cheeks. Service was excellent. We arrived around 11:30am and there was one other table taken, but by the time we left around 1pm there was a lineup. Personally I would come back here. read more

We ended our stay in Quebec here, and I'm so glad we did. On a cold, snowy night, this cozy bar was exactly what we needed. The duck wings were phenomenal. They gave me turkey leg vibes, and I wanted an additional order on top of the six I got. The maple soy was a perfect salty sweet combo for sauce. My burger was excellent. Q-de-Sac is a trendy, touristy, everything that is wrong with a tourist spot, but also everything that is right. It's crowded yes but the vibe here is very lively, and full of everyone enjoying the delicious food here. They have tons of different draft beer. The poutine here is good with the curds being the highlight. They were delicious chunks of cheese. We also had a Caesar salad salad and the French onion soup. Enjoy everything, but leave the French onion soup alone it just didn't live up to the self-billed best French onion soup in town. It wouldn't even be the best French onion soup at my house. That being said, with all of the beer, options, and all of the other food options, I wouldn't recommend against anybody trying this place out. It was a good time. read more

We stopped here this past weekend after arriving hearing good things about this place. The location was great right in the strip of lots of shops and souvenirs along with a handful of other restaurants. The inside was nice and cozy and it really made it known you were in Quebec with the decor. Server was friendly and fast and we had no complaints with that. The drink options were good. We got a beer which was nice and a cocktail with chocolate and Coke which was interesting yet very refreshing! The food was very good overall. Started off with the beef tartare which didn't have too much flavor but was still very nice. And the bread that came with it was perfectly crisp. For the mains we got fish and chips with a side of poutine. The poutine was average but the fish was fried to perfection and not bland at all. And the tartar sauce is one of the better ones we have ever had. Finally, we also got the poutine with foie gras torchon which was so good! The foie gras added so much to the dish. And the bacon and meat glaze all combined to work perfectly. This was definitely one of my favorite poutines we've ever had. Overall very nice spot for a lunch so if you're in the area would definitely recommend as their other menu options looked very good as well! *this is only our opinion* read more

I got the shacks poutine. Poutine, bacon, foi Gras? Sounds incredible! They brought it out and it looked good enough to be on a magazine cover! I wish I got a picture. Unfortunately, I felt the flavor fell a little short. Fries were okay, but not the best I've ever had in a poutine. These fries are a thicker cut and a little soft on the inside. I generally prefer my fries thinner/crispier. The gravy also didn't hit for me. I commend them for trying something different than the traditional pork/beef gravy, but would not try this dish again. I liked the place. It's quite nice inside. Services was very good. I would come back to try something else. read more

The cocktail was amazing. Easily one of the best I've ever had despite only half knowing what we were getting based on the menu being entirely in French with no English version. The duck wings were over cooked and consequently tough. The maple soy sauce was a lot of soy and no maple. The French onion soup was pretty good and the fries desperately needed salt. Service at the bar was good, but my water glass was empty more than it was full. The wait to be seated was very long despite a lot of empty places outside and at the bar. Overall this place has an elevated rating, but is very average. I'm sure there are better options in the area. read more

We were visiting Quebec City earlier this month and this was one of two outstanding restaurants that we dined at. From it's adorable location, to it's cozy interior, to the fantastic service and oh, the really delicious food, you cannot go wrong with a meal here! It is a nice restaurant in Old City, Quebec, situated in the perfect spot for views and people-watching. The inside is very small, but if the weather permits, the patio is the best seating area. We visited in August, so the weather was perfect. It seems like this is a popular place, so there may be a bit of a wait for a table. They have decent selections of bar-type food, draft beers, and drinks. We ordered pizza, duck wings, and poutine. All were very tasty, except I wasn't a fan of their poutine. Located right by where umbrella alley is located. So it's in lower Quebec city. I made reservations prior to our trip because there was 8 of us. When we got there, the restaurant was pretty empty, but for a party of this size, I would definitely recommend reservations. I had to call to adjust the party size because you are only allowed to book for 6 online. 20 minutes after we sat down, the restaurant began to fill up quickly. We ordered the poutine with foie gras, pepperoni pizza & french onion soup. The poutine was just ok. I feel like it's more of a gimmick than anything. The fries were crispy and it taste good, but it didn't blow my mind. The foie gras didn't really add much to the dish as it was served cold. The french onion soup was pretty good and I liked the cheese pull. The pepperoni pizza was just ok. I was not a fan of the dough and I feel the pizza was a little overcooked. Now, this place is supposed to specialize in pizza since they have a brick over in the corner. But this was the least appetizing dish that I had here. If you want to come here to get a cold beer and snack, then it's a great place. But it's definitely not great food. I feel like it's more of a tourist trap than anything. read more

Great first meal in Quebec City! Really great outdoor seating at this casual pub on the picturesque street with the umbrellas. Reservations are needed and easy to make through their website. The chill natural bar atmosphere could leave one to expect typical pub fare, but it is nothing but. I didn't see anything in the drink menu that caught my fancy so I ordered a margarita - this can easily go either way somewhere that doesn't specialize and has limited tequila options. It was such a spectacular margarita made with Canadian Tequilla that I had to order two more. The onion soup was great, but the pizza and the beef cheeks were divine. Fantastic developed flavors without any pretentiousness. Really f-ing fabulous. I almost didn't go in because the hockey on 6 TVs was raging. I'm glad we pushed through. It was fun, authentic and hilarious when they lit up the bar with fire to do a shot for a winning Canadian goal. Top notch food in a real place - solid surprise for a heavy tourist area. What a fun place! We sat outside on this cute umbrella alley restaurant for lunch. We ordered onion rings-served with honey, a pepperoni pizza and cheeseburger with fries. The onion rings were out of this world! Who knew that onion rings with honey were really good. the pepperoni pizza was thin and very flavorful. The cheeseburger was a little bit small but absolutely delicious. I love the outdoor seating and being able to watch things going on all around. We know we are in a heavy tourist area and we know we are near to where the cruise ships dock, but the place we chose had a long wait, so we came here. All we really wanted was a drink, a little bite and to sit down for a bit. I had 2 glasses of wine and some plain fries. I mean, they're just fries they were ok...could have been crispier but they were fine. Their sign said they had the Best French Onion Soup in Quebec....Hah! My wife ordered that.
