We decided to eat here after a full afternoon of debate between trying a place half a block away where Obama ate, or trying out this place. I was happy that the girlfriend ended up going for Le Campanella in the end, as the menu was much more exciting to me and also more affordable. We had a range of foods including snails, foie gras, duck and potatoes, and Carbonara. Everything was excellent, and the meal was affordable by Paris standards. Our waiter was busy (so somewhat slow) but funny. We weren't in a hurry, so the slow service wasn't a big deal. It was also nice having dinner reasonably close to the Eiffel Tour since it let us go over there to catch the train back to Gare de Lyon and see the tour all lit up at night on the way. 3 stars = "A-OK" is pretty much how this place is. The prices for wine is reasonable and the french onion soup is prettty solid. I ate a tuna special which comes fully cooked. Guess being American you expected a seared tuna steak and this was more fully-cooked. Tasted fine. Wife ordered the salmon. Was someone fatty and she was just left with an "its ok" reaction. Neither were full after leaving. Oh and if you want butter for your bread, its 1.50 EUR extra. Gotta love France. read more

Stumbled upon this place after a night visit to the Eiffel Tower! We were looking for reasonable prices and we found that here. They were also very inviting and spoke English! We had the duck and the salmon both priced at a reasonable 13 eur per dish. Very very good and exactly what we wanted! We finished visiting the Eiffel Tower and wanted something to eat. We came across this place by chance. Lots of restaurants down this street, but thought others would have harder time accommodating larger party including kids. Our waiter was friendly and patient, speaking English with us. We were actually on our way to a different restaurant that was nearby but when we got there they were opening in 15 minutes and we didn't have a reservation. We were disappointed but this was ok because the place seemed to be a little snazzier than we expected. So anyways, onto the review of Le Campanella. All I had really wanted while in Paris was coque au vin or beef bourguignon. Who knew this would be so hard to find? Le Campanella has it (beef bourguignon. As soon as I saw it on their outside menu I said forget the other place. It was great! We also had the onion soup, that was fabulous and we also had a the campanella pizza but it was salty. This was one of the best meals we experienced in Paris based on service, location, ambience and food. I looked forward to escargot as part of this trip and finally was satisfied with the portion and garlicky buttery concoction here. The duck breast and sauce was amazing. Our daily stop for a glass or two of champagne. Love the staff they are so accommodating and friendly. After multiple stops at the bar we did stay for dinner at very romantic window table I always wanted with a red candle. Food was great and service excellent! read more

Le Campanella has decent food and service - our meals were good, but could have had slightly larger portions for the price we paid. They did have a Happy Hour on though - pints of Kronenberg for 5€. This restaurant was an excellent find. We stopped in for drinks when it started raining and ended up staying for dinner. The cocktails and wine were very good. Popped in on a lark. The food was great. Had a soup for a starter, it came with bread which is not the usual for a French restaurant (whereas in America bread is served at every restaurant), had the steak and mashed potatoes, and pasty the chocolate cake for desert. The staff were very friendly and talkative and the setting was really nice. We were sat in a booth, and not at a table next to others so that was really nice. Will definitely visit again. read more

What a great surprise we stumbled upon.... we stopped in for coffee and ended up getting the cheese platter and quiche Lorraine which were outstanding! Went twice for dinner since it was nearby and recommended on Yelp. The first night was very good. I had duck with a peppercorn sauce and my spouse had roasted chicken, both nicely prepared. The waiter helped select a very reasonably priced Rhone wine after we had grown weary of house wines. We enjoyed the meal so much we brought friends back the following night, only to be disappointed with chicken and other dishes being served luke warm. I'm surprised this restaurant doesn't have more stars. While staying in Paris for 5 days, this quickly became our regular spot. It's cozy, has great wine & absolutely delicious food. My friend & I each got a different item every visit & were never disappointed. the service there is great & the location is perfect. When a man came up to my friend & I to interrupt our drinks & dinner, our waiter Vigi came over right away to ask the man to please leave us alone while we were dining & told us to just let them know if anyone bothered us, which we were truly appreciative of! 4-star meal, but check the check twice. This cafe within indoor & outdoor seating was a nice surprise for lunch. My husband enjoyed his croque monsieur with some pretty darn good frites. His house rose was very tasty with strawberry notes, but dry (as it should be). I enjoyed very much my "salad" comprised of steamed potatoes topped with Mont D'or (think Brie, then slipped under the broiler 'til melted), a generous charcuterie, cornichons, and greens. The server hand-wrote in an additional "tip" of 10%... and then added 10€ (not 10%) the bill. This 10€ miscalculation was more like a 20-25% tip. We noticed no mention of a bread charge, table charge, cuperto, etc. on the menu. When asked about this, he noticed the mistake and recalculated to 10%.
