The playgrounds in the city are loads different than the ones in the 'burbs, way more diverse, with many more children running around. This particular playground is located on the southern end of Sara D. Roosevelt Park, in LES. It's a large park with a basketball court and a sizeable area for children of all ages, to play. Despite there being so many children and families present, it did not feel overly packed at all. There are plenty of different sections in which to play. We started with the swings and tire swings. My Little dominated their rope climbing feature. There are plenty of structures on which to climb. Hubby, myself and our daughter, all took advantage of being kids, taking turns pretending we were pirates trying to steal a captain's treasure. It's a perfect place to tucker your kids out. There are plenty of benches so that you can sit and let you kids just run wild. All the children I saw playing, were playing in a kind manner, not being too rough with one another. They event have a sections for smaller children, with supportive swings and structures to walk around and inside. There's also a sandbox feature that I didn't feel too comfortable letting my kiddo play in due to general cleanliness.

Walk into Central Park Zoo and you'll forget that you're in NYC. Yeah, it's all a zoo anyway, but…read morereally, this place is a much more peaceful zoo. These days, admission is about $17-$23 depending on your age. Reasonable, especially since it's not a huge zoo. I get in free because I have the WCS Family Membership. If you enjoy the Bronx Zoo and think you'll stop by here once or twice a year, the membership will easily pay for itself. You'll probably spend about an hour and a half here. You can spend longer if you catch one of the scheduled shows or experiences--I remember seeing a seasonal 4D show here. They also have restrooms and a small café. Right in the middle of the zoo is the seal exhibit. If you time it right, you can catch feeding time for the seals or the penguins. Secret tip: If you have no money, sit on the bench just outside the zoo and you can still watch the seals swimming around. Don't even bother with a map here. With the seals in the middle, just walk around them and you'll naturally see everything else. Complete the semicircle and you're done. If you have little ones and they're still eager for more, there's also the Tisch Children's Zoo just a short walk away. It's an easy addition to your day and has some great animals and hands-on exhibits for younger kids. It's a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours in Central Park and one of my favorite little zoos to visit.

The zoo is well maintained and kept clean. When we came they were doing some gardening. Animals were active and looked happy. It was a pretty hot day, they have water filling stations inside near the bathrooms. There's two areas, the main zoo and the kids zoo area. We didn't really care for the kids zoo area because our son is still on the younger side but it was still very cool to see.

Make sure to repeatedly warn your child of paying attention to kids running wild in all directions. Parents seem to be MIA... The playground is quite modern... there's even a half sphere kids can climb on (bare feet, or it won't work). Plenty of swings and climbable options. The place is divided into two areas for children of different ages... both very crowded (did I mention that?). There's a slide kids can use after climbing over big rocks... not the safest option when there are too many kids lining up (and pushing each other) to do it. With little else around to have your child move, this is the forced option. The silver lining is that you're in freaking Union Square, with all sorts of food (or booze... you may need some after a visit to this place) available to you.

They keep the place clean by having guests keep their shoes in the front area and strollers outside in their front stroller parking area. The employees also go around throughout the session to clean up areas the kids finished playing in. They also have a designated bucket for parents to place any toys the kids may have accidentally put in their mouth to be cleaned. There are two rooms- a bigger play area in the front and a smaller room in the back. The front room has two tables used for coloring/ playing and snack time. There is also a two level play station where it has stairs to climb up or a small scramble board to the top. There are also some various toys from puzzles, trucks, a carriage, rocking horse, Legos, soft play cushions and dress up clothes. The back room has some additional tables, more cushions and books to read. The employees were very nice and were great with the kids. We had a good time overall.

The Hudson Yards 28 acre mixed use development has gone viral. It's now one of the busiest and…read morepopular tourist attractions because it is new. Not yet opened is the observation deck (coming 2020) to be called the Edge. Or some of the proposed hotels surrounding the area. They are starting to sell residences within however. In addition to the main building with a shopping center and restaurants as well as the Jose Andres-led Spanish food court on the ground floor, among other outlets.... There's the Shed, an arts center that officially debuted in early April. The Shed looks like a big square white bubble. It has rollers in a couple places so that the "building" size can be expanded. They're already advertising various concerts, etc. to be held there. It's not much to look at from the outside (only; you can't enter), but will be another draw to the area. Then, there's the most famous architectural element, already. It's called "Vessel" -- not "the" in front of it. Basically it's a place name for the artsy "sculpture". It will be renamed at some point by crowdsourcing. Standing 150 feet tall, Vessel consists of 154 interconnecting flights of stairs. The structure offers views of the Hudson Yards complex, midtown Manhattan and the Hudson River. The outside appears coppery chrome and reflects various sites. Plus it serves as the most photographed -- with selfie reflections being very popular. And it's been a hit on Instagram. Tickets are free to enter, and climb, but there was a very long line to get them. The earliest entry time was 4 hours later and we weren't going to wait. Supposedly you can also reserve times on line. We walked around inside the mall building... just to see some of the high end shops. Everything is quite spread out on 5 floors. And then went to to the Spanish food court downstairs. You even had to stand in line to take the escalator down. They controlled the number of people entering.. Signage is not the best throughout the main building. I'd suggest studying the layout on line before coming. And if you want to climb Vessel, try to book online ahead of time. But make sure to see the other major sights in New York City first before coming here...

What I saw was in need of a facelift. I'm a fan because I felt comfortable there. It's a nice place to stop after walking over to Hudson Yards. I wouldn't set aside time to go see this park unless you visit the High Line and the park in the other side near the High Line Entrance. That's by the Vessel. I'm reviewing the part by the public transportation entrance to the 7 Train. Go see and you'll understand what I'm talking about....

Pyramid with slides coming down each side, block structures to climb on, water sprinkler area to cool down in, fort to climb up into, and some benches around the outside for the parents to sit on. It's not a large playground but the layout makes it look big.

This playground features some really cool climbing structures. One of them is a brick pyramid that kids and adults can climb up. It features a really large slide or a ladder that puts you down in the middle of the structure. If you're small enough there is a tunnel one can use to get in/out. There are some other structures like another pyramid with two slides. When the weather is warm there is a fountain. I love the soft material on the ground that surrounds most of the playground. It helps soften any falls that young ones may experience.

The carousel is cute, but they do have several strict rules I'm not crazy about. It spins at a faster rate than most, which was unnerving at first. The ride was accompanied by classic carnival music from a Wurlitzer organ. Fun facts... according to sources st ProspectPark.org, this carousel was originally opened in Coney Island in 1912, and hand carved by Charles Carmel, a man who drew inspiration from the horses kept at Prospect Park during that time period. It was relocated to the Park 40 years later.
