Cute place we found using Yelp. We needed lunch for the family and this place was perfect. I was able to get a bean burger that was delicious. The kids had an amazing macaroni and cheese and they even catered to my young son who wanted just cheese and bread. I had a side of poutine that was okay. Visited Le Foubrac one day after work for a drink and a bite with two others. The service was quick and friendly and the location was really cute/a bit off the beaten path. I got a California chicken burger which was sooo juicy and the toppings were excellent. I paired this with a spicy caesar (can't go wrong!!). Overall I really enjoyed the visit. I expect a burger to be juicy and tasty. I can't say that about the burger I had here. I find one of the best ways to judge a burger is by ordering a fairly simple one as opposed to one garnished with 15 different things. I ordered the cul-de-sac burger minus the ketchup as it was their simplest one. Sorry, but I didn't find it that good. It was really bland. I kept having to add salt and pepper on it to get some flavor because there was none coming from the meat. Even the cheese didn't help. Speaking of which, I've got to say the meat was an odd color. Pale and grayish. Let's say anemic. I'm not sure what's up with that but I've never seen a hamburger patty that color before. Their fries and poutines looked amazing! I was trying 'to be good' but ended up being sorry I didn't order any because they looked to die for! My husband ordered their mac and cheese with 4 cheeses, Italian sausage and jalapeño. It was a huge serving, looked amazing and was quite tasty but it was cold. I first ordered a diet Pepsi but it was so flat I had to send it back. I then ordered a tea which is pretty hard to screw up but they managed. They make their own teabags and there was like maybe half a teaspoon of tea in my bag. If you like burgers and/or poutine, this is the place to go! Fries: CRISPY and fresh. You can taste the potatoey-ness! Gravy: thick, salty, but not too salty. They actually put enough! Curds: fresh, although I wish they put more (but I'm obsessed with curds). For a normal person, the amount is good. I chose a bison burger, and the meat was very tender. The toppings could be more inventive and have more flavour though. I enjoyed the poutine much more than the burger! I went there on a Tuesday around 6pm with a friend. The place was easy to find and they have a small parking lot. It can accommodate about 6-7 cars. However, I'm certain that there are a lot of street parking nearby. We fell in love with the place as soon as we walked in. It had a very nice ambiance. It was lit enough for us to see everything, but dark enough to keep a nice ambiance. When you go in, you can seat yourself and a waitress will come see you. They have limited seating and, to my surprise, it was full on a Tuesday night! They have a variety of homemade sauces and drinks that are very tasty. Their food is extremely cheap, but so much better than some foods that are sold at big chains (like montana's). We were happily surprised when our waitress told us that on Tuesdays, any burger (except duck) plus a side of poutine is only 10$! I was once again happily surprised when my burger came. The patty was much thinner than patties at other restaurants, but I liked that way, since I could actually taste all the different components of my burger instead of just having a bite of meat. Was staying down the road for a conference at Lac-Leamy casino and found this place on Yelp. Excellent staff with great knowledge of the local beer. The food was simple, but well done simple. There is a great selection, I have had the signature "le Foubrac" as well as, one that had a nice spicy kick. I will be going back to try the "canard" burger. The fries are tasty, Belgian style, and for a dollar more they will make it a poutine. My only criticism is the bun, good, enough and they are homemade and would be great for a sandwich, but not soft as I would like them for a burger. Both times I went there was a drink special, the prices are amazing. 3 of us ate, drank (more than one) and the bill was about $60. (UPDATE: a few years later - now well over over $100+ for that). The menu is in french, but the staff are very helpful and the service was great. As a restaurant that specializes in Burgers, this is a hit. Better than the works, better than the hintonburger, better than baja burger, and better prices than my (still) favorite Chez Lucien. Very cozy spot maybe 24 seats max? A pub my son found that he wanted to try while we were in Gatineau for the day. It is seemingly off the beaten path but it was very well worth the effort to get there. The waitress greeted us in French but easily switched to English when we answered in our native language. The food was so fresh and flavorful, I cannot say enough good things about it. The side salad was refreshing and with all of the variations of poutine they offered, it would be a shock if anyone ever walked out of here hungry. I had ordered a Bloody Caesar with bacon, jalapeños and fromage and the taste was out of this world! If I had not been the only person old enough to drive I would have had a few more! One was plenty though. My daughter ordered the four cheese Mac and cheese and she could not rave enough about it. I was honestly surprised she didn't lick the plate clean. Cozy little spot. You can tell that there are a lot of regulars, or just a lot of people who know each other, which could be a cause of discomfort, but it's easy to forget once your food comes! My friend and I both ordered burgers, and neither of us could finish ours (we are small girls, but I can usually eat a lot). I had the Montclair, and I would put it in my top 5 best burgers list, for sure. I was pleased with the price and the service. I can speak French, but we were served in English. Best burgers in town by far! Been 3 times in a week with more and more friends. Amazing selection, funky French ambiance, seriously outstanding service - must be an owner. Quickly working my way through the menu - Gatineau with goat cheese, carmelised onions, sauteed mushroom, and bacon still my fav. Burgers are perfect size, shape, texture and seasoning, bun is just right. So much to get right for a perfect burger but i would say this is as close as anyone has come.
