I expect a burger to be juicy and tasty. I can't say that about the burger I had here. I find one of the best ways to judge a burger is by ordering a fairly simple one as opposed to one garnished with 15 different things. I ordered the cul-de-sac burger minus the ketchup as it was their simplest one. Sorry, but I didn't find it that good. It was really bland. I kept having to add salt and pepper on it to get some flavor because there was none coming from the meat. Even the cheese didn't help. Speaking of which, I've got to say the meat was an odd color. Pale and grayish. Let's say anemic. I'm not sure what's up with that but I've never seen a hamburger patty that color before. Their fries and poutines looked amazing! I was trying 'to be good' but ended up being sorry I didn't order any because they looked to die for! My husband ordered their mac and cheese with 4 cheeses, Italian sausage and jalapeño. It was a huge serving, looked amazing and was quite tasty but it was cold. I first ordered a diet Pepsi but it was so flat I had to send it back. I then ordered a tea which is pretty hard to screw up but they managed. They make their own teabags and there was like maybe half a teaspoon of tea in my bag. The service was excellent and they have a nice patio. The seating inside is limited. I'd go back for a poutine or some fries but I wouldn't order another one of their burgers.

If you like burgers and/or poutine, this is the place to go! Fries: CRISPY and fresh. You can taste the potatoey-ness! Gravy: thick, salty, but not too salty. They actually put enough! Curds: fresh, although I wish they put more (but I'm obsessed with curds). For a normal person, the amount is good. I chose a bison burger, and the meat was very tender. The toppings could be more inventive and have more flavour though. I enjoyed the poutine much more than the burger! I had the sausage poutine, and there was literally A MOUNTAIN of sausage pieces on top. So delicious, it makes me want to try all the other poutines!

My burger and my friend's burger with a side of poutine. Each meal is 10$!

I went there on a Tuesday around 6pm with a friend. The place was easy to find and they have a small parking lot. It can accommodate about 6-7 cars. However, I'm certain that there are a lot of street parking nearby. We fell in love with the place as soon as we walked in. It had a very nice ambiance. It was lit enough for us to see everything, but dark enough to keep a nice ambiance. When you go in, you can seat yourself and a waitress will come see you. They have limited seating and, to my surprise, it was full on a Tuesday night! They have a variety of homemade sauces and drinks that are very tasty. Their food is extremely cheap, but so much better than some foods that are sold at big chains (like montana's). We were happily surprised when our waitress told us that on Tuesdays, any burger (except duck) plus a side of poutine is only 10$! I was once again happily surprised when my burger came. The patty was much thinner than patties at other restaurants, but I liked that way, since I could actually taste all the different components of my burger instead of just having a bite of meat. I ended up spending less than 15$ on my meal and I couldn't even finish it. From now on, I'm planning on heading over there every Tuesday!

We went for 5:00 and were told we had to be out for 7 due to reservations! Not a problem!! The food was simply fantastic! Fresh, flavourful and hot! Great burger, Poutine and dessert! Service was thoughtful, helpful and genuinely great people!! If you are in Ottawa, cross the bridge and go! It is so worth it!!!

Amazing poutine- ask for the works. Good sangria. Excellent and friendly service. My friend ordered the burger with garden salad and she loved it! The homemade dressing on the salad has a fresh and delicious taste.

A pub my son found that he wanted to try while we were in Gatineau for the day. It is seemingly off the beaten path but it was very well worth the effort to get there. The waitress greeted us in French but easily switched to English when we answered in our native language. The food was so fresh and flavorful, I cannot say enough good things about it. The side salad was refreshing and with all of the variations of poutine they offered, it would be a shock if anyone ever walked out of here hungry. I had ordered a Bloody Caesar with bacon, jalapeños and fromage and the taste was out of this world! If I had not been the only person old enough to drive I would have had a few more! One was plenty though. My daughter ordered the four cheese Mac and cheese and she could not rave enough about it. I was honestly surprised she didn't lick the plate clean. If you're in the area, this place is a great find and I would definitely recommend.

If you are from Western canada. You need to come here and taste a real poutine

Excellent service. Excellent food. Do not miss out on this place. From start to finish well worth the visit. The Gatineau burger melts in your mouth and is a meal on its own. The poutine reminded me of the proper ones I ate as a child, squeaky cheese curds and homemade fries. Finished off with the passion fruit mousse so delicious. Our server made us feel at home and went out of her way to speak English since my french is so bad. You must eat here.

Le Parisien; beef patty, brie cheese, caramelized onions, mushrooms and lettuce! Side of fries with garlic mayo. Yum!

Came here after work with some students before we visited the War Museum. It was around 4:30 so the place wasn't packed but they were very accomodating for a group of 8. I got myself the Parisien burger which was aboslutely delicious! I had a side of fries with garlic mayo (they had an assortment of mayos, from cajun to spicy and many more). Loved the atmosphere and the food; would definitely come back here again after work!

Burger here was okay. Definitely not the best in town but edible. The fries here are good and service was excellent.

I thanked him and advised him that I was actually looking for food now and was about to leave, but then he said it was ok that he could make my food now. How nice is that, eh? I ordered 2 half chicken dinners. So the price was $13.55 each and I was prepared to pay this, but it turns out they were having a buy one get one free offer, which wasn't advertised anywhere, but hey, I took it. Awesome! So you get to chose your sauce for the chicken. I got Original, which is spicy, and I got my husband the Medium Sweet, since he likes less spicy than I do. The chicken came on a bed of rice with vegetables. The wait was about 35-40 minutes. The food smelled so good on the car ride home, lol. The Original sauce is somewhat sour, but the spices in it give it a more unique taste. The Medium Sweet sauce was, well, sweet, which I prefer over sour, but it was less unique, as I feel like I've had similar sauces before. I did like the spiciness of my sauce though. It packed a nice punch. The flavour profile of the Original was unlike any sauce that I have tasted before, and I love trying new things, so I liked it for that. I would love the spiciness of the Original, but the sweetness of the Medium Sweet. The chicken was tender and juicy. The rice was just ok IMO. It tasted a bit dry. It was rice with carrots, corn, peas and green beans. Seemed like a frozen vegetables mix. Service was very friendly and courteous. The restaurant is in the basement of a low-rise with other businesses in it. Betsi Chicken is inside D'Afrique Restaurant and Bar. I suspect they have the same owner, just different branding since it's different food (Betsi Chicken serves African grilled chicken, while D'Afrique Restaurant serves traditional Ethiopian food, like curries with injera). Street parking only.
