The reception staff ( one female and two male) were barely able to communicate in English and were totally unhelpful. The man was especially snarky and his instructions were totally unclear. They gave me some nonsense instructions about using the lift but came to find out that the instructions "press button P"are not present in the lifts from level -3 and all other buttons take one to a level completely separate from the hotel lobby. They made no effort to personally accompany me or otherwise help. The parking is not free. I chose to leave without bothering to see the rooms as my first experience was unacceptable. I would never go back there. Don't waste your money! I hope that the reception staff on the day in question ( May 4 2025 at about 21:00) are fired. That's what you get when you hire dumb idiots

They provide a pass for public transportation, but most things are close enough to walk. The room was small but clean. As a solo traveler it met my needs. As a budget hotel the room didn't have a minifridge, or a kettle for tea/coffee. The bathroom was small but clean. The staff was friendly and courteous. The breakfast is for an additional fee. Overall, I would recommend. I do not have anything negative to say, other than it's a bit pricey, but this is Switzerland.

You need your hotel room key to gain access at night to the hotel and to use the elevator. Also, the complimentary breakaway was delicious and had a great variety of items. I had two delicious crepes with Nutella, a yogurt, a medley of nuts, and cereal with craisins. The coffee machine also make delicious lattes!! The bathroom was pristinely clean and the water pressure was perfect. The people who work in this hotel go above and beyond to ensure that you're taken care of, and I highly recommend it when you're in Geneva!

This is likely a result of the clientèle they regularly serve. The United Nations offices, Red Cross and WHO are very close by, so there are large numbers of dignitaries staying in the hotel on a regular basis. This also means a very secure environment that caters to people of varying nationalities. The TV channel selection, for example, reflects this. Be sure to visit the hallway with photos of some of the well-known people who've stayed at the hotel, which was first opened in 1964. We certainly had one of the lower end rooms, facing west toward some local housing (and a co-op) vs. overlooking Lake Geneva in the distance. Incidentally, the co-op has some decent ready-to-eat food selections... so if you don't want a sit-down meal, it might be a good place to visit. Other than the hotel restaurant, there are only a few good places to eat within easy walking distance of the hotel. Our room was spacious by European standards, and there was beautiful lighting, extra seating, and desk space. A room safe and minibar are part of the package. The king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed, with an expansive deep bathtub and wonderful large bath towels. The toiletries were a rather exclusive brand and had a great unisex scent. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but it, too, was outstanding. Both buffet and menu selections were available. Servers were competent and sincerely nice. We especially enjoyed our interactions with Sarah. The hostess was wonderful as well. This hotel had many amenities that we didn't use, like a pool and sauna. Be sure to look these up ahead of time so you bring what you need.

Check in was seamless and easy and our double and twin (upgraded) room was ready when we arrived around 1 pm which was a nice touch. Dark wood decor throughout with a balcony. Safe was available as well a Mini Bar. Robes and slippers were provided. There is a restaurant and breakfast/Brunch was available. Although we didn't eat here, the restaurant was full during meal times. Two person elevator that is from another era but still worked and got the job done. The Fitness room/Spa area had Modern decor and is the part of the hotel that has been updated. A rare, both Steam and Dry Sauna rooms (2-3 people max capability) are included with an inviting relax area that was always kept clean and organized. An Amazing Wine Bar (La Tenuta)) and coffee shop (Christie's) just steps away and 15 minutes walk from the City Center. Yasside and the team took good care of us and gave us some great recommendations and tips. Extra star for their service minded and engaged approach. We will be back!

Overall the hotel is super clean, beds are extra comfy, deluxe rooms have balconies, and they also have a spa + gym in the basement.

Breakfast is good even though you might think is too expensive, but think again: it's an expensive city. Absolutely indispensable were those free tram tickets the hotel provided for the duration of the stay. 5min walk to the nearest stop, no more than 10min wait, 20min comfortable ride, and you are in the old city center. Check if you can use your Orbitz points when booking: that was very beneficial for us.

Here is what we noticed: - When we arrived, it was a little hot, so we opted to sit indoors, not realizing that we would be sitting near the open windows by the outdoor smoking section so be aware. - The menu is quite expansive, with lots of homemade pastas and pizzas. There were a lot of other interesting dishes that we wish we could try, but we just didn't need more than a couple. - We ordered a bottle of white wine and the server brought out the wrong one (a red). Luckily, we noticed it before it was opened and he brought out something else since the one we ordered apparently wasn't available. It ended up being really good! - We ordered a dozen snails, and eventually he served us four of them, indicating that they were all out, but that we wouldn't be charged. That was too bad because they were delicious and we wish they had had more. - We ordered the Quattro Fromaggio Pizza and the Tortellini Scampi for both of us to share. They were both excellent! - Service was OK, but our server got less attentive as the place got more crowded. It took forever for us to get our check and pay at the end even though we asked a couple of times. Bottom line: La Gioconda hit the spot for our first night in Geneva.
