The cafe au lait was brought out in an espresso mug and a pot of steamed milk - this way, you could add the desired amount of milk to your espresso. The espresso tasted smooth, and the milk was whipped to the perfect cloud-like consistency. As a finishing touch, each beverage was delivered with a small square of chocolate.
