The food was solid across the board and felt less stuffy than the fine dining Michelin experience next door. Sometimes less is more. The owner may not come across as overly warm or chatty, but after a few visits, I got the impression that's just his personality rather than poor service. Not everyone in Provence is going to greet you with an American-style smile, and that's part of the charm. What matters is that the food was consistently good, the atmosphere was casual and inviting, and it became one of our favorite spots during our stay at Crillon. If you're staying at the hotel and want something delicious and more laid-back, don't overlook this little café

We were able to grab lunch there two of the days during our stay. I've written about one of our lunches. Food: My husband was in the mood for escargots and they had them on their dinner menu. The man was nice enough to make them for him for lunch. They tasted ok, but needed a bit more garlic. I ordered the croque monsieur which was also just ok. We ordered ice cream for dessert. Drinks: We ordered two oranginas and two small coffees. Price: 37.50 euros for two people. Ambiance: No ambiance. Just a simple cafe on the street which is sad because there's so much potential with this place. Service: The husband is the front of the house and is actually quite rude. Don't come here for the hospitality and it will be beneficial if you speak French. Would I go back? If it was anywhere else in the world I wouldn't go back because the food is mediocre and the service is rude. But since there aren't many options at Crillon Le Brave I would unfortunately find myself there if I wanted something simple to eat.

His wife(?) worked magic in the tiny kitchen. The house rosé was delicious, the best I've tasted in the Rhone so far, as was the house red wine, served chilled. Far better then one would expect for the price and for the house wine. Before the meal came we were given the most delicious local olives, and bread with garlic olive oil. I don't even like olives but these were very tasty. For entrees we had the burger and the Salade de Mattis, both of which came with lovely little roasted new potatoes. Sarah devoured the burger so I only got one tasty bite. The salad was yummy too, with tender pan-seared chicken with a delicate sauce, nicely dressed greens, and little rolls of eggplant, which I didn't like until I tasted them with the tomato sauce they were with - the chef worked some culinary magic to make the combination quite wonderful. My wife and I had dinner here tonight, and the owner told us that it was only their second day of being open! They showed no signs of working things out - everything was on point, from the decor to the service to the food. Everything is organic and they list all of the purveyors of their ingredients on the menu. I only wish I had saved room for dessert. I think we got very lucky getting in early, because the prices are sure to rise when this place gets discovered.

This is a husband & wife run place so the menu is "this us what she made today." - and they usually have 2 or 3 options for the main course. The deserts were also yummy. We had caramel apple crumble and pear tart w/dark chocolate.
