The inn is the perfect combination of historic charm and modern amenities. Room - and bed - were extremely comfortable. Loved the big shower. There's a great deck off the back with a view of the river and all the cool birds that make it home. Lowell is a sweet small town - some nice historic architecture, the flour mill across the street and had a great meal next door at Easy Street.

The view from any room is pleasing, the rooms are well furnished with big comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms and there's a fridge and small dining tables in a common area for guests. Free WiFi is reasonably fast. The water pressure isn't good when lots of people are using their showers, not a problem when the place isn't near capacity. Staffed by only one person at a time, but both workers we met were helpful, polite, friendly and pleasant. There are only four or five rooms, so they sell out often, make your plans ahead of time.

There are plenty of scenic locations for photography and the pavilion is great for hosting guests. Overall, I'd highly recommend River Edge B&B as long as you treat the venue with respect & follow the rules of the owners. Regarding rules - They are the same as other outdoor venues I've been to: No outside alcohol, City noise restrictions, treat the property with respect. Some of the other reviews are absolutely correct, they will sit at a picnic table and watch you. This is in the contract that you will sign but there's nothing like seeing it in person to make you feel judged and watched. They do allow you to serve alcohol but there is extreme judgement there that you would want to serve it and they are waiting for things to go wrong. They do have 2 handicap spots but if someone tries to park there that is handicapped they will tell you that you have to move your car. They prefer the aesthetic of no vehicles parked down there. There are spots for beautiful pictures but be firm in what you want and what your photographer thinks are the best shots. Bill is adamant that he knows when and where to take the phots and does not like to hear otherwise. Again, I tried to share this with him in private and his response was to attack my character. This is obviously something that he has been told before and he does not care to hear it. I will not share everything that he said but his last words: "In my opinion, you have just demonstrated what a totally unreasonable, inconsiderate person you are. I wish you had been up front with us in the first place, which would have given us the foreknowledge and opportunity to to decline the wedding. Examine Yourself!!"

The bed is old and uncomfortable and the bedding is old, stained and won't stay on the bed. The light in the bathroom flickers like a horror movie. The water pressure in the shower is awThe air conditioner made loud, wind-like sounds all night. There is graffiti on the towel bar, wall and light fixture. You can't make this stuff up! We pulled out the filters in the air conditioner and they were filthy. The carpet is filthy. Like makes your feet black filthy. The ice maker was broken. There's layers of dust in the coffee maker. I could probably go on forever. The pool and hot tub were drained and out of service "because Covid". They are not serving breakfast "because covid" as well as not cleaning rooms unless requested "because covid". Yet everything is wide open now in MI as well as many other states. And no one in this place wears masks, so how are all these cancelled amenities due to covid restrictions? I'd have sympathy for them if they were conscientious and honestly concerned about covid, but that's not what's going on here. Clearly the ownership has used covid as an excuse to run a disgusting, subpar establishment, avoid cleaning and not make repairs. There's housekeeping carts and other messy equipment all over the hallways. They left the doors to the storage and laundry rooms open and they're a mess. All of the doors to the outside that are supposed to be locked are wide open. An obviously intoxicated man without a shirt was hanging around outside and tried to get my attention when i was in the car. NOPE. I drove off. If I was traveling alone I would not feel safe. We were in town for a wedding and had no other option. We will absolutely, positively not be back. I hope we don't get sick. The cleanliness of the rooms was lacking. Appeared they may be doing updates but not 100% sure. Drywall dust and odd wood screws behind the bed/night stand. No smoke alarm in the room, a dirty rag was left on the shower curtain rod. The shower curtain itself was pretty moldy. If they would update the hotel part this location would be awesome.

Ordered blooming onion at the same time as our meal but said we'd like it first. Meals came out and we asked about then onion and she said they overlooked it. This most recent time a medium well olive burger was ordered and received a rare one. Waitress was bartender and server. Two people standing behind wall outside kitchen on phones. When we received the blood in onion, we bit into the outside that wasn't removed and couldn't be chewed through.
