Well let me start with the good. The golf course is fantastic. Greens are fast, fairways are plush. Loved it. The water tower grill food was awesome. Had a party of 8 do a stay and play and they all loved the food. We are considering coming again next year. Take out the hotel condition and it's a 5 star place. Now the bad. The cleanliness of the rooms was lacking. Appeared they may be doing updates but not 100% sure. Drywall dust and odd wood screws behind the bed/night stand. No smoke alarm in the room, a dirty rag was left on the shower curtain rod. The shower curtain itself was pretty moldy. If they would update the hotel part this location would be awesome. read more

The last several Times we have been here the service is lacking. Sat for 15 minutes before we were approached for a drink. Ordered blooming onion at the same time as our meal but said we'd like it first. Meals came out and we asked about then onion and she said they overlooked it. This most recent time a medium well olive burger was ordered and received a rare one. Waitress was bartender and server. Two people standing behind wall outside kitchen on phones. When we received the blood in onion, we bit into the outside that wasn't removed and couldn't be chewed through. read more

I spent one night in the hotel. It's overpriced. I paid more than $100 for a room worth no more than $75. The bed was comfortable, the TV was okay and the shower was okay. The carpet was horrible, threadbare in places. The lamp on the bedside table was used by Abraham Lincoln. There were no electrical plugs near the bed for charging my phone. Housekeeping was kind enough to leave a towel from the previous guest on the floor, behind the door in the bathroom. I'll never return. read more

Amazing as always! We always have our company retreat at The Candlestone, the golf course is in great shape, our after party was at The Stone with the new simulators, absolutely amazing! I can't say enough great things about Candlestone & The water tower grill! The food is consistently outstanding--every dish is prepared with care, full of flavor, and always leaves us excited to come back. The staff is warm and welcoming, making every visit feel special. The hotel bathrooms are recently updated which is great too. The grounds were so beautiful during the fall. we even chose it as the venue for our wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. The food tasting offered was our first experience here and From start to finish, everything was seamless, thanks to Dawn, who made the planning process so easy and enjoyable. She went above and beyond to ensure every detail was just right. The food that night was nothing short of incredible--our guests are still raving about it! Came to the Candle Stone golf "resort" during a 2 night stay to visit a local Motorsport race track for a couple of track days with a buddy. First up: it's not a "resort". A resort has a pool or at bare minimum, a hot tub. Not this joint. Second: there is no maid service, so if you're staying multiple nights, get ready to fend for yourself when it comes to clean towels. Third: the rooms have no dressers for clothes, only racks straight out of Ikea. The TVs are smaller than most laptops. No excuse when 40" televisions are on sale at WalMart for under $150 each. The restaurant claims to be a smokehouse... meh. Food was dry and bland. They have a good selection of bbq sauces that help hide the cold meats that arrived at our table. At least the server was nice. Make sure you have exact change for the vending machine. It doesn't give change. And as far as a "continental breakfast" -- Folgers coffee out of a machine that only worked one of the two days. Corn flakes and a bagel might be your only options for food. Didn't play golf, so I can't give an opinion on that. I'd chalk all of this up to Covid... IF they weren't charging $150/night. Feels like this "resort" can do better read more

Was very disappointed. Went to a wedding here last week and Dawn the Event Planner and Coordinator was very rude to the Bridal party and the guests. She was very unprofessional and let all the guests eat before the Bridal party and Bride and Groom returned from pictures so they were last to eat. She rushed them through pictures so they didn't get near what they wanted. One of the bridesmaids purses was stolen out of the room and then accused her husband of taking it. She refused to show them the camera footage and then found out that the camera's were fake. It was a bad experience all the way around. We will never recommend this Venue to anyone. read more

We spent 2 days at Candlestone for Fathers Day for my husband as my gift to him and I booked the suite, we were very impressed with Julie, Henry and Kennedy, our stay was just wonderful! the meals were very good as well as the drinks, Molly overseen we were well- treated! The Pro shop staff were INCREDIBLE!!!! Doug, his lovely wife Corey and entire very hard-working crew were fantastic! The golf course is Majestic! VERY WELL MAINTAINED as well as our golf cart! I stayed here 7-15-2023. Truthfully I wouldn't even give this place one star. I was here for my Aunt's Celebration of Life at Webasis Lake Park. I arrived at 11 am and was told by the desk clerk it was too early to check in. So I went upstairs and hung out with some other family members who had spent Friday night as well. The beds are not beds, they are metal framed cots with a mattress. I finally checked in after 6:30 pm and went to dinner with family we closed the dinning room around 11pm. When I finally spent some time in my room I noticed how dirty it was. The phone handle had so much dust on it I didn't want to touch it. My shower curtain had mold at the bottom of it. Instead of causing a scene at the front desk I discretely called and left the manager a message and stated these things. Low and behold Wednesday they charged me an additional 200.00 for a smoking fee which I am a non-smoker. So yeah that's a problem. I called the bank to dispute the charge. This is my first time here. We are here for a comedy show (yeah, currently!) I had a terrible week, was really looking forward to cutting loose with friends. I am part of a party of 20. The service is substandard. I've been here almost 2 hours, I'm on my second drink. We NICELY let our server know how long we are waiting for everything and she got defensive. Guess what. Next time I'll call the restaurant I'm going to and make sure someone's not having a baby. Because apparently that's my problem. read more

We visited the restaurant at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon. There where 2 other tables of patrons when we arrived. It took us over an hour to receive our meals. The fish and the chicken strips look identical and the taste was disappointing. When the bills arrived we where told that they couldn't accept credit cards and needed cash only. We spend several weekends a year in Belding for the racetrack in the area. I reserved a room with this place ahead of time and asked for the special rate (because of the special event). I was told the manager would have to look into it and call me back. Two weeks later, I heard nothing from them. I called again, and finally got the manager which confirmed our rates. When we arrived for our stay, it was a bit confusing that there was an actual inn there. The restaurant attached to the inn dominates the front view and signage and makes you think the restaurant is just oddly shaped and inn-like. But there isn't much signage about where to check in, where the inn is and that. The inside of the inn was somewhat dingy and a little outdated. Our room was about the same way, although very stuffy. The windows in the rooms cannot open and so the only way we could alleviate the stuffiness was to turn on the AC. Since the temperature outside was barely 60 degrees, this wasn't the best fix, but the only one available to us. The bathroom in the rooms are very small. It's almost impossible to get into the bathroom and close the door since the door swings into the spot that you're standing in. There isn't any room to get out of it's way. Indeed, there is less than a finger-width of space between the toilet and the door if you can manage to close it (by standing in the tub). The bathroom is just too tight and too cramped. The beds were horribly bouncy and hard. My husband and I woke each other up several times by switching positions just because every movement you make is amplified and transmitted through the entire bed. The "continental" breakfast was some old fruit, some coffee machines (as in the machines bad gas stations would use, pre-packaged muffins and tiny boxes of cereal. No actual coffee, no yogurt, bagels... It was a very sad and pathetic excuse for a continental breakfast. We went to McDonalds in town for a better breakfast. I would not recommend this place when the AmericInn in Greenville has better rooms and breakfast. The place is in bette condition and the staff is nicer. Go there and avoid the Candlestone. read more

I'd never been here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The course was one of the nicer that I've played...albeit a touch more expensive than average. That being said, the Restaurant is where this place falls flat. My wife and I played nine holes and went in for lunch at two on a Sunday. While there were around 12 people inside, only a couple at the bar had ordered food. We were seated, and a waitress that looked as though she was in the midst of changing the oil on a truck in the parking lot stopped by the table about 5 minutes later. We ordered the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Chicken Quesadilla, and an order of onion rings. The onion rings were ok. The quesadilla was aggressively bland....I mean, I'm not sure how you can wreck something with bacon, cheese and ranch, but they did. My JJ chicken was was nothing more than blackened chicken and an off-brand Dijon mustard. Our waitress appeared to have a total of two tables and managed to avoid both for extended lengths of time. About 20 min later she stopped by, (after I had visited the bar twice for water refills), to ask if we needed water. She could tell we were both fairly annoyed at the time this was taking with no other orders going in or out. Her demeanor changed for the worse and we saw little of her friendly side for the rest of the meal. Our food appeared about 10 minutes later. (To be clear-we recognized the delay was likely not in her control-and did not treat her any differently.) After finishing our drab food, we attempted to take our check up. Ended up having to go to the waitstation to find her and pay. To say the least, we won't eat here again. read more

Word of caution... They raise their prices on holidays almost double and automatically add a twenty percent gratuity, even though servers only clear. Given the poor quality of the food, lack of cleanliness of the restaurant and the outrages holiday price gouging, our second visit to the Candlestone Inn will be our last. read more

Good Bar and deck, didn't dine per say but the course was great. Service was very buttoned up and professional. The course is all you want if you play from the tips. 1, 9 and 10 play pretty open near the clubhouse, but don't let that fool you. Lots of trouble to be found, a great challenge. The only thing I didn't like was having the bag boy walk from the shack to clean our clubs while we were still putting out on 18. I had to tip a guy for cleaning my clubs that were already spotless, a little akward. Great value for the price and an easy drive from Grand Rapids. Will be back for sure. read more

PATHETIC About a year ago we used to eat a Candlesone once a week and he food was amazing The pizza was among he best I have ever had They have obviously made some poor decisions and changed their food/kitchen staff. We ordered 3 pizzas to go for almost $50. It was the most disgusting pizza ever made I could have bought frozen pizzas, baked them on my car engine, cut them with a chainsaw and served them with a shovel and it would have been better pizza than the garbage Candlestone served me Theirs was obviously a crappy premade crust, it was hard and had no flavor. Save your money and stay away from this place. read more

We went here for our 27th anniversary dinner. We have traveled the world and have become pretty disillusioned with restaurants in general. Very seldom do we have a wonderfully tasty meal, with service to match. The Candlestone's restaurant management went far and above it's call to duty. When my meal came it was not good. I ate what I could and left most on the plate. At most places the story would have ended there. Where else would a manager notice that you didn't eat the food on your plate and come over to ask why? And prod you to be honest and tell the truth? So I did. He was most concerned and told us he would take the meal off the bill and look into the matter. We will definitely be back because with customer service like that, who doesn't feel special? My husband's dinner was wonderful. Don't know if the chef had an off night or it was the recipe of what I ordered... we will go back and see! read more
