This tasteful bed and breakfast was a delightful place to stay in downtown Grand Rapids!…read more We ran a bit late so the owners called to check on us, which was appreciated. Once we arrived it was easy to call the listed number and get let in, which happened quickly despite our being after the agreed upon arrival time. Skylar then showed us around and left us to enjoy the room. She had their two children with them which was fun and gave the space more of the local family feel. We didn't hear them during the rest of our stay so no worries about late night cries etc. The house is beautiful and our room had a private bath with a huge jacuzzi tub. There was a window ac unit as well as a fan so we stayed comfy at night and even outside fireworks weren't too noticeable. We were a handy 10 minute walk to a multitude of restaurants and cute parks plus the river walk. There was also a parking spot at the house so we could leave the car and not worry as we walked in the city. The breakfast was especially tasty and Skylar made extra effort to accommodate our dietary needs by making something totally different for me (veggie hash with toast and yogurt all vegan). The fruit, juice and coffee for all were tastefully laid out and made for a refreshing breakfast experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would stay here again!

Did I mention it is WALKING DISTANCE to the Van Andel??!! Note the walk back is gradually uphill. A couple that we spoke with during breakfast mentioned they also walked back. The husband said he has a bad knee and felt it a little bit on the return but would definitely do it again. Todd and Skyelar's home is beautiful and bright. We stayed in Room 2 which is also bright yet cozy at the same time. Our room had a Keurig coffee maker which was great! I will just have to remember to bring some tea with us next time as we love our tea. I didn't think to ask for any so I can't fault anyone but myself! The bath products are provided and smell amazing! I actually wrote the name of the brand down as I am going to order some for home. We really appreciated having an extra power strip in the room. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with local products. Cinnamon raisin bread French toast, bacon that was perfectly prepared, fresh fruit, orange juice and hot coffee. I look forward to returning to The Lafayette House!

I arrived at Grandma's House after a 12-hour bike ride in the rain. "Grandma" and her husband Larry…read moremade me feel welcome right away. They've had a lot of cyclists stay with them, though I was likely wetter and muddier than their usual client. Fortunately I was the only guest that night (I just missed a family with seven children), so I took over the upstairs bathroom to wash and dry myself and my gear. Sure, a hotel room would also have served, but I felt so much cheerier in a cozy, friendly home after that long day. They are very nice and down-to-earth folks. They'll have breakfast ready when you want it (just tell her the night before) and will have you feeling like you're part of their family. During breakfast I learned about what several of their 19 grandchildren are up to, and a visiting great-granddaughter joined us too. This place is an incredible value at $60.00 per night, and I will definitely stay there again if I'm in the area. Note: This is their home, so don't expect it to be like a hotel. I don't think they have wifi, and only one bedroom has a TV. Spend some time sharing stories with them instead. Note 2: Call at least a day ahead to be sure they have a room available for you. They are often unable to accommodate drop-ins.

What a nice place to stay! I stayed at this B&B from June 24 to 28 and couldn't have asked for a…read morebetter B&B experience. At $60 a night its a fantastic deal, and if you're lucky Grandma will make French toast on the same thick, sesame seed bread as she did for me. Keep in mind the owners actually live in the house unlike many B&B's, but in my opinion this was not a problem as they were friendly and welcoming but not bothersome. Cozy, clean, and a great deal. Thumbs up!!

I honestly felt like I walked through a wardrobe into a Narnia world. The small sign at the drive was a bit tough to see, so as your map tells you you're close, slow down and look for the Bed and Breakfast sign. The vibe here is full on beautiful Pinterest, French countryside garden chateau. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to see, from the outdoor pavilion to the stately rooms inside. The ivy covered buildings and gardens bursting with blooms are great backdrops for any photos. The wedding I attended was on a super hot, sunny June day, but there were plenty of amenities provided to guests to alleviate the heat: shade parasols, handheld electric fans, folding fans, and plenty of cold water. This was such a thoughtful touch and really helped make guests comfortable. The mansion in the background was a stunning view for the short but sweet ceremony. Once the ceremony concluded, we were greeted by staff members with water and wine and were directed to a courtyard for hors d'oeuvres and an outdoor bar. There were areas of shade from trees and umbrellas, which was a nice reprieve from the sun. The food was all perfectly arranged and the bacon wrapped date I had was a delicious sweet and savory bite! Molly and Jenn were pouring drinks with big smiles despite the heat. We were ushered into the main reception area -- a beautiful, airy, open pavilion -- by a tinkling dinner bell! Dinner was delicious and all staff members I interacted with were incredibly polite and professional. I was really blown away by the details and care put into this celebration at this amazing venue! Hopefully I can attend another wedding there someday. If you need a beautiful place to get married, look no further than Greencrest Manor.
