The Long Version: My husband and I were chilling in our hotel when my husband had a hankering for some shawarma. He didn't want to go too far, and I encouraged him to try a new-to-us place, lol. So a quick search led him to Shawarmaz. Shawarmaz is a Canadian company that started 2013 in Montreal. It has several locations but they are all in the Greater Montreal Area. My husband got the beef shawarma in a pita $9.79. They have the option of getting your shawarma in Saj bread or a baguette and those options are more expensive. He got lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, turnips and onions. For his sauces he got hummus, spicy garlic and chipotle. He enjoyed the shawarma. I had a bite so I could review it (I also went with him so I could see the restaurant and take pictures) haha. I thought it was pretty good. They give you a decent amount of protein. And the beef was flavourful and not gristly. I was surprised that the wrap was not too spicy considering the sauces he chose. The decor is fast food restaurant-like. Service was good but it did take a while for the food, although it's likely because there was a pretty long line up. Review #205 (2025)

This restaurant itself is not the cleanest and rather chaotic on weekend nights. Theres usually a long line to order, but it moves rather quickly and efficiently. The staff members aren't the friendliest, but they get the job done LOL. You'll find a bunch of hungry and probably drunk people sitting at the cafeteria styled seats at night. The food is the main selling point here though. I've gotten the mixed platter and shawarma platter; both with generous servings of protein all doused in a flavorful sauce. Ordered the poutine recently and was also impressed how much they loaded the protein. It was a little on the saltier side and wished they had more cheese curds, but still pretty enjoyable. The fries were also more like small potato wedges. I've recommended this place countless times for almost any point of the day, but they especially hit the spot after a long night.

Pooh and I loved our drinks but for the price there should have been more alcohol and less ice. Marie wasn't crazy about her drink. For our main meal I ordered their Fried Chicken Salad. Pooh ordered Apollo à la Brasa, and Marie had Lobster Roll with fries and salad. I liked my salad but since it was "fried chicken " I thought the chicken would be hot. It was just warm so the skin wasn't crispy; more loose like sagging skin. Pooh loved his dish but it was a tad salty and greasy. Marie loved everything. Each of us had a Brazilian coffee which was delicious. After we shared an order of their Beignets. These beignets were huge and came with two dipping sauces: caramel and whipped Nutella. Whenever I don't know what to eat but still want something good (and not too heavy), this is usually it. The chicken is always solid. Juicy, well cooked, and actually seasoned properly, which is not always the case at places like this. You can tell it's marinated and not just grilled plain. I usually get a bowl and load it up with veggies and a sauce or two. The sauces are really what make it for me -- flavorful but not overpowering, and they don't taste artificial. What I like is that you can build the bowl however you want. Some days I go lighter, other days I'm hungry and add more. Portions are decent and I usually feel full after, not stuffed but satisfied.
