After walking around the town for a while and comparing menus, we settled on Pizzeria La Pignatta. The inside of the restaurant is pretty charming with a ton of wood decorations on the inside. We came during prime lunch time on a day when all skiers were basically unable to hit the slopes, so the restaurant was busy and the service was incredibly slow. That being said, the food was excellent. We ordered olive oil with our bread, and were handed a bottle of olive oil that had been infused with some peppers and herbs. It was absolutely delicious. As a New Yorker - and thereby a pizza lover - I decided on a pizza that strayed from the normal tomato base. We ordered the Montagnarde, wich had cream, cheese, reblochon, ham, fresh mushrooms, and egg. I must say this was a delight. If you have the guts to put an egg in the middle of my pizza and it tastes good, you are good in my book. The pizza definitely hit the spot. No comparison to New York style pizza, but I would definitely suggest it. We also ordered the fondue served with a charcuterie board. The fondue was amazing and incredibly tasty. I was surprised by how something so simple - melted cheese - can be so delicious. The charcuterie board cost extra, but it was worth it. I always love trying out regional charcuterie. We walked back out into the blizzard with smiles on our faces.

I have seen many different snow areas variating from 20 to 80 ski lifts up until 400 km of slopes! Courmayeur is a small area of nearly 50 km of slopes and yet we come back at least 3 times every year. This is of course due to the beautiful area, hospitality, marvelous village and mostly because of the amazing food! Giorgio's Alpetta is definetly our favourite restaurant on the slopes and we always look forward to have lunch there again! We always have a place to sit and were never disappointed by the food or the service! It's definetly the best place on the slopes :)

We are open every day during the winter ski season and starting this year dinner too. You can find typical local, cooked by our chef Roberto, like the "penne del mostro" (gorgonzola speck e zucchine) or steaks and quality meat with polenta fontina cheese and corbonada, local salami and home made desserts. Along with menu of the day or on request prior to reservation lasagne a go-go. We speak italian, english, french and are happy to see you at any hour during the day for a warm meal, a glass of wine, a hot chocolate or just an espresso. But our advice is to enjoy our mulled wine or a "grolla" coffee after dinner.
