This is a very good restaurant near our hotel. It's in a rustic building. Main dining area is one floor up. It's beautiful inside, with three chandeliers. We loved our dishes. The only problem I had was the zero choice in the prix fix menu. For instance, the vegetarian menu included a salad, pasta dish and a dessert. You don't get to pick what dish you want for each category. But everything was great. I just didn't care for the free bread. read more

I am currently travelling through Europe had a lot of food on the way but I can safely say the lamb shank in this restaurant was the most delicious thing I've eaten. Cooked to perfection served with brocoli and a rosemary + garlic mixture. There was a big fire burning it was a lovely place to get in from the cold. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The owners had a big lovely friendly mountain dog called joy. I highly recommend this restaurant I will definitely go back there again. read more

Great location for a fantastic unrushed meal. Enjoyed creative courses. Menu at first looked sparse and I got a couple quizical looks from others in my party but everyone enjoyed each course. FYI they will not take reservations in English. They pretend that they can't hear you when you call. They are pretty good at it. It's sort of hilarious. I tried twice then I had a French friend call a minute later and surprise surprise they could hear them. Still hung up cause they could hear us in the background. Awesome. Need a break from French cuisine? Stroll down to Cham Sud to this cozy Italian restaurant. From the travel guide reviews, this place is described as a mom and pop shop and it definitely felt like you were stepping more into someone's home. You have to love a place that allows you to order from the children's menu but with an adult portion. The pasta with meat sauce was one of the best I've ever had. I tried a bit of my friend's scallop with truffles which was excellent - and the pigeon was also really good. For dessert, I had the panna cotta which was probably not set long enough as it wasn't as firm as I'd like but tasted great. We also shared the chocolate souffle - and the waitress hand whipped cream to top it off. read more

Our group of three visited L'Impossible tonight for dinner and had another wonderful meal in Chamonix. Two of us had the 4-course Summer Menu (54€) and one had the 3-course Farmer's Menu (33€). A complimentary soup course and generous bread supply were also included. We were given English menus and there were no communication issues at all, but that's not really a big point for us. Everything was excellent. For the 4-course option, the entree (appetizer) was veal based, and a small cheese course was included. The main course was a spinach/Gorgonzola ravioli in a creamy sauce. Dessert was a mix of three nut-based ice cream like confections - kind of a blend of pudding/ice cream - very nice. L'Impossible is a fantastic Italian restaurant located a quick walk from the main strip in Chamonix. The fixed menu was excellent, particularly the homemade pasta. Come here for a memorable Italian dinner whenever you need a break from the Savoyard cuisine. read more

I don't know where to start with this place... My mom and I took a European trip this spring and one of our stops was in Chamonix, France (one of the most beautiful places). I did a TON of research on trip advisor and stumbled upon this place and was beyond happy that I did. My mom has celiac and is allergic to ALL gluten. I found several places on trip advisor that served gluten free items. I made sure to email all hotels and restaurants in advance to make sure that they in fact knew what celiac and gluten was and could accommodate us, l'Impossible was one. They replied saying they could. My mom and I ate there our last night and wish we would have gone there sooner. We walked in and walked up the stairs and was greeted by a lovely Italian girl who is the daughter of the owners (the father is in the kitchen and the mother oversees the restaurant). The place is beautiful and has the feeling of walking into a very welcoming Italian home. We explained to the daughter (in English and with a gluten free card in french) my moms situation. She smiled so big and told us that her mom had the same disease and her father was in the kitchen so there would be absolutely NO problem!! They went out of their way to bring my mom some if the mothers stash of rice cakes to munch on seeing as she could not have any of the bread on the table. They walked her through the menu and told her exactly what she could have. They were so kind, they made us feel like family the whole time we were there. On top of everything, the food was AMAZING!!!!! I was in heaven as was my gluten free mom :) I wish I had the patience to write a whole article on this establishment, but I think this will do for now. :) read more

The restaurant really takes you back in time! Authentic Italian feel and style. Family run, they made us feel very welcome and at home, even going as far as to seat us at the "family table". Excellent food, their ravioli and other pasta were excellent! The tiramisu, made on site, is some of the best I've had! read more

Been here 3 times. whenever they have the "pates aux chantrelle* and you like mushrooms... GO FOR IT! Delicious! The waiters are adorable and the wine list is a bit *out of stock" (2 times they didn't have the wine we ordered) But pretty good in general - The only fault is that you can't return quickly - the tastes and ingredients in the dishes are too overused so if you go 2ce a month you could feel like your ordering the same thing! But if you like that "thing" it's excellent. read more

The people that work there are very kind and welcoming. The food itself was delicious and well made, a bit on the pricy side but the fresh ingredients made up for it. However the portions are ridiculously small. I ordered the ravioli and when my plate came I almost thought it was a joke...it wasn't. I literally left hungrier than when I went in....Overall this is a warm, classy restaurant with great people. Although the portions are very small it's worth a try! read more

This place is such an incredible find, especially if you are gluten or dairy free, but even if you're not. The decor is beautiful, very romantic. The service is excellent. And the food is delicious, so fresh and exquisitely prepared. You won't believe the desserts without sugar or dairy, they're unbelievable.
