From the perfectly crisp traditional baguettes to the savory quiches and incredible sandwiches, you can't go wrong with anything here. This place has become an absolute must-stop for me every single time I visit Quebec City. By the way, their sister location in Saint-Sauveur is also phenomenal. It's much smaller and features a different menu, but the quality is equally spectacular.

It's near Jacques Cartier National Park so if you time your trip around fall foliage as I did, you can enjoy your pastries surrounded by the colors of the fall season. The pastries are everything I imagined -- super flakey and delicious. Located outside Quebec City, it was said to be the best pastry shop in the area. I don't think you can go wrong. You just point at whatever is calling you. There was line, but the line moves swift. Is it strange that I get happy and excited when I meet fellow Filipinos. I find comfort in meeting them and it always feels like meeting family away from home. There was a group of them working at this bakery in Stoneham. They were all smiles and very welcoming to me the English speaker in this French speaking province. If you're in the Quebec City and you have your own car, I recommend a visit to Pascal and working off your carb loading with a walk through Jacques Cartier National Park.

***** I heard from a few people that the apple pie here was wonderful, so after lunch I stopped in for an apple pie with caramel sauce and espresso. The playhouse and patio are so cute and quaint, a wonderful place to grab a snack. I was joined by a handsome rooster - a little cheeky but polite... I shared some of my palmier with him and he seemed to appreciate it. I don't think this was his first. After my espresso I went back and found some wonderful souvenirs including t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and there were so many home items that I wanted but knew they wouldn't fit in my suitcase. However, I also bought a wonderful children's book "Dorianne and Edgar save Noel on the Island of Orleans" by local author Martine Patoine and it is delightful. I didn't realize I had a problem with the copy and luckily I was parked right next to the author and her husband and adorable dog gave me a perfect brand new one from their car . How lucky! A delicious apple pie and coffee, a wonderful apple pie and coffee, a wonderful shop and lots of goodies inside!

Oyster's with sauce, I have never had oysters that were so smooth and clean. And I have had a lot of oysters over the years. Anyone would enjoy these. My buddy has the French onion soup, might be the best we ever had! I had filet (6oz) with lobster; so delicious! I had a baked potato. So good! My wife had the filet with mashed potatoes. We were celebrating a birthday and it was very memorable! Our witness was wonderful and put up with our loud group... Highly recommend this to anyone!

The atmosphere at Steak Avenue is pleasant, but unfortunately that's where the positives ended…read more I ordered my steak medium, but it arrived well done. To make matters worse, a drooping, waterlogged lobster tail had been placed directly on top of the steak, leaving the meat not only dark gray but also watery. Instead of a perfectly cooked steak, I was served something that looked and tasted overcooked and soggy. When I mentioned it to the server, she told me to cut it open. I did, and the inside was dark gray from edge to edge. Rather than apologizing or immediately offering to replace it, she said that if I really wanted to, she could take it back, but that it looked fine to her. At that point, I gave up. I ate an overcooked, chewy, waterlogged steak along with cold frites and vegetables that had clearly been sitting for a while. The service made an already disappointing meal even worse. Steak Avenue has a nice atmosphere, but if they can't cook a steak properly, or stand behind it when they don't, I can't recommend it. Steak Avenue should be called "Steak Cul-de-Sac," because you'll want to walk in... and then walk right back out.
