Strawberry crepe with English cream
Rebecca W.

Enjoyed a great breakfast here. The staff were very friendly and helpful by speaking in English with us. Ordered the strawberry crepe which was huge and delicious.

Brie cheese mushroom eggs Benedict
Sean W.

Being tourists in Quebec City on Christmas Day morning, even McDonald's was closed. We struggled to find a breakfast restaurant until we finally found coco on Yelp. I ordered the Brie cheese (because I like Brie and was curious to see how eggs Benny and Brie would taste together) mushroom egg Benedict while my wife ordered the smoked salmon egg Benedict. These dishes were priced around $17. Both came with a LARGE bowl of assorted fresh fruit (think of cora's serving multiplied by 3-5) and a large baked potato mush with 2 types of cheese shavings on top (cheddar and mozzarella?). Be careful because the cheese on top apparently cost additional $3, which we did not ask for. Luckily for them, it didn't taste horrible so we didn't complain. Overall, it was a very satisfying breakfast but very pricey; the two of us spent around $50 after tax and tips.

It gets five stars because they are open on Christmas and New Year's Day and it will save you. Come for a great breakfast of salmon on English muffin or have eggs and your choice of meat. Waffles and pancakes are on the menu too.

Oreo Waffles

Great breakfast- big quantities. Potatoes are excellent. Ordered French toast with wild berries and it was great. Daughter ordered the Oreo waffles with 2 eggs and it was perfect as well. Excellent service although the place was busy. Would definitely recommend.

Coffee! Omelette and breakfast poutine!
Neisha B.

Everything is so delicious! And they give a lot of food. I came here yesterday and even took some home. Had to come in again today because that's how good breakfast was and is. Place is inside a mall. Very nice mall. Place is spacious and clean. Sometimes you have to make a line but they are very quick. They sat us in 10 minutes. You won't be disappointed. Price is great also! I would come here everyday for breakfast If I was staying longer in Quebec. Great mimosa specials also. Coffee refills for free! Very nice people, speak good english.

The service was great. The portion sizes are very large, but the food is nothing special. It's lacking in flavor.

Personally, it was a treat for me trying out something different, but I do not think everyone would appreciate its almost raw meat and liver-like texture. The Tartare comes with fries, a salad, and crouton to round up the order. We upgraded the side of fries that came with the Tartare into their Tout Cochon poutine. I was happy with that option that way I was able to sample their house poutine without needing to dedicate a full meal order for it. I can say this was among the best poutines I have had. The gravy was rich and flavourful. The poutine was also loaded with a variety of different proteins like the Gaspor farm ham and the bacon-wrapped sausage. The perron cheese curds also perfectly topped off the whole dish. Our last order was the Quebec pork chop marinated and grilled with maple and tamari. It was served with apple chutney, sweet potato mash, and seasonal vegetables. It is exactly as you would expect with the ingredient details of the dish's name. You get a lot of different flavour profiles and textures with the meal order. Some saltiness with the pork chop then some sweetness with the apple chutney. Meaty tenderness with the pork chop, mushiness with the potato mash, and then some slightly crunchiness with the seasonal vegetables. We dined on Sunday lunchtime the day before Family Day. There were people waiting to be seated by the time we arrived, but fortunately our group of only 2 people has a table spot available so did not need to wait. We were led down flights of stairs to the lower floor which was level with the street below. The whole place with its classic walls and decor exudes with classic charm.

I ordered the half rack of ribs, which was a mixed bag. The flavor was good, but several ribs were so burnt they were completely inedible--straight to the discard pile. They came with a well-dressed Caesar salad featuring seasoned croutons and delicious shaved bacon, plus sliced fried potatoes that were crispy and not greasy in the least. The thick layer of BBQ sauce wasn't quite my style--I'm a dry rub girl--but I was too hungry to care much. No photos because I devoured everything. My dining companion had a chicken sandwich she raved about. She ordered a Nordic spritz while I indulged in some Quebec cider. Honestly, I expected more pork options given the restaurant's name, but they fed us quickly and efficiently, which was exactly what we needed. No real complaints except for those burnt ribs. The interior has eclectic, cool-looking decor that's worth checking out. Our waitress provided quick and efficient service as well.

Le Buffet de L'Antiquaire is a super popular local brunch spot with a history (read their…read moremenu/website about their start in 1947), we got here in time to get a table before a large rush of regulars and tourists. By the time we were finished our meal, there was a half block line out the door. This is a tightly packed restaurant with several 2 seater and some 4 seater booths with a bit of a mezzanine for customers. The staff are super efficient, friendly, and delivered the food quickly. This has a more diner feel but with the Quebec French feel. We had the: - house lemonade - soup of the day (pea) - la cochonne; this is a breakfast poutine with eggs on top, very filling and delicious, ham, sausage, etc. all chopped into bite sized and topped with sauce and cheese, for poutine lovers - le migneron; this is a standard looking breakfast with french toast, homestyle potatoes, veggies, ham/cheese/eggs, and more maple syrup on everything, best option if you don't know what you want to eat while getting the feel of the place This is another great place to visit while in Quebec, this is located in Old Quebec Ports and the walk leads you through some of the older buildings of the city as well as past many art galleries. A very nice walk, but come early, else you'll be waiting in line!

Coffee came right away. Waited a bit to order but no complaints, they were busy. Finally ordered. I got the eggs Benny with spinach and mushrooms. My husband ordered the pea soup and toasted western. Western was well done, he was loving it but no soup showed up. Asked the waitress who obviously forgot it but no problem. She ran in and grabbed a bowl. The home fries on my eggs Benny were great. Hollandaise on the side. Definitely not made in house. The mushrooms were excellent. The English muffin was unfortunately not toasted so ended up being a soggy mess. All in all, pretty good but if you order the eggs Benny, I suggest asking for the English muffin to be toasted.

Pair it with local cider or fresh Guinness draft beer, and your taste buds will be totally satisfied. A well-loved spot on Rue Saint-Jean in Old Quebec. Expect a short wait on weekends. We didn't have a reservation, but were fortunate enough to find seats at the bar--and honestly, it was perfect. For me, it was even preferable to the dining room, allowing us to watch the team at work while enjoying the warm and inviting atmosphere. We began with the Duck Foie Gras Terrine with pine forest spikenard, brioche tartine with larch and buckwheat praline, and a garnish of apples and aronia. We also added the sautéed foie gras, which elevated an already exceptional appetizer into something truly memorable. For our main courses, I chose the Québec Braised Beef Cheek with miso celeriac purée, roasted celeriac, wintergreen herb relish, and wild caraway veal jus. The beef was meltingly tender and deeply flavorful. My dining partner selected the Elzéar Venison Pâté en Croûte with balm poplar, Isle-aux-Grues plum mustard, hawthorn relish, and pimpina gel. Beautifully executed and rich with distinctly boreal flavors, it was both refined and comforting. We also shared a side of the duck breast lacquered with cranberries and schisandra, served with polenta flavored with dune pepper and braised winter lettuce. The standout for my dining partner was the polenta, formed into a crisp log with a beautifully crunchy exterior and soft center. He declared it his favorite preparation of polenta ever. From the attentive service to the inviting ambiance, everything was outstanding. Located in the heart of Old Québec on Rue Saint-Jean, Chez Boulay provided a delicious and memorable welcome to our holiday week. It was the perfect introduction to the cuisine, ingredients, and hospitality of Québec. Great food, great service, great atmosphere--simply perfection. Highly recommended.
