We had a really lovely stay at Le Méridien Vienna. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for Europe, and we were upgraded to a suite, which made a big difference after long days of walking around the city. Everything was spotless -- especially the bathroom and the bed -- which always matters most to me. Breakfast was a standout. As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I contacted the hotel in advance and they arranged complimentary breakfast not just for my husband and me, but also for the couple traveling with us. The buffet was fantastic -- freshly cooked eggs to order, great pastries, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. One of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. The staff was warm and professional throughout our stay, and we loved stopping by the You Bar for drinks and light bites in the evenings -- perfect when you're tired or jet-lagged and don't want a full restaurant experience. The location is excellent, with most major sights just a 15-20 minute walk away. There were a few downsides. The room ran very hot in winter, which made sleeping difficult, and we had noticeable noise from a neighboring suite with children -- we could clearly hear laughing and shouting through the connecting door. The hotel did call the room after we complained, but the noise didn't stop. Luckily, the connecting door was on the sitting-room side of our suite and not the bedroom. Vienna is an expensive city, but we booked using a government/military rate and felt it was very good value given the spacious accommodations, cleanliness, service, and prime location. Overall, we'd absolutely stay here again. read more

While the location was good in Vienna I/we wished we could have loved the hotel more than we did. The restaurants and lobby were nice..... We opted for a suite and were somewhat disappointed in the room. It wasn't very special...very drab with no pictures or much decoration. The furniture was very basic and the bed was sooooo low to the ground. The bathroom had a metal pole by the tub, over the sinks the lights were out-and the makeup mirror had some sort of tape on it with a patch. There were marks all over the wood floors and no rugs or anything for coverings in the rooms so I/we heard other guests nearby. While taking a shower we noticed the shower body gel was empty as well. We all agreed it was not as we hoped for or imagined a beautiful suite would be at this holiday time. I/We would probably not choose this Meriden again if we should visit in the future. read more

Lovely experience in a perfect location. We stayed three nights. As a Marriott Platinum member we had free breakfast and were upgraded to an Executive Room. Pros: Good service - easy to talk to front desk staff Great location - can walk to many sites and the subway is a five minute walk Beautiful room - high ceilings, airy, large room with mini fridge We were able to skip room cleaning services in exchange for two free drinks every night we skipped Breakfast was good for those with Marriott status. Probably would not have paid that much out of pocket. Pool, hot tub, sauna - great perk Cons: Minimal but could be a bit crowded / wait for elevator. No big deal. We paid under 250 Euro a night. Le Méridien is a great hotel in an upscale quarter of the beautiful vast city of Vienna. We were lucky to have a massive room with high ceilings and a city view. My sweetheart was quite pleased that we were across from Steinway Haus and just a 5 minutes walk from Bösendorfer Piano Salon, as he is in the music industry, a talented pianist, drummer, and also very skilled piano technician. How lucky is that!! :) Le Méridien is now a part of the Marriott Bonvoy Brand thus again comfortable beds, plush towels and good service. The staff was accommodating, plus we had a chance to enjoy their brasserie lounge restaurant off the lobby serving southeast Asian cuisine, and the breakfast buffet in another section on the main floor serving all types of hot and cold breakfast choices. A large room with plenty of space and the largest bathroom I've had in Europe. Two sinks and a rainfall shower head + 2 side jets. I loved the closet with iron and board + hair dryer and mirror. So many European hotels make you plug in the hair dryer in some random part of the room with no mirror. DO NOT STAY HERE. I admit I was fooled by the reviews. And it is in a great location. But that's where it stops. Rooms are supposed to be ready at 3 PM but I was made to wait at least half an hour while they were cleaning. As a Gold Elite member this was the only Marriott property in my three-city vacation where I didn't get upgraded. That's fine and all but the check-in associate basically went and asked a manager and came back and said no. And the standard rooms here are tiny. Not sure if COVID changed things but there's no free mini-bar as some of the other reviews have stated and the only thing offered free downstairs was the mulled wine and punch (which they always ran out of cups for). There's a gym in the basement but - guess what - it's also tiny. As in one treadmill and limited space to move around. My biggest piece of advice though is to double-check the papers they are making you sign upon check-in. I should have had an inkling as they tried to run my credit card more than twice but I assumed as a Marriott property they would have their shit together. Much to my chagrin I found out (later on my credit card statement as they did not send me a folio) that they charged me almost double the rates on my booking confirmation. I've never had this problem before and let me tell you, trying to resolve it afterwards is a pain in the ass. To add insult to injury, the doorman didn't even hold the door open as we were leaving with our luggage. I know Austrians are not known for being friendly but good riddance. This is my second time at at Le Meridien property. And though I did not write about my time in Barcelona, both properties were top notch. The property in Vienna is really quite nicely located. Close enough to the middle of the city center without the crazy noise and masses of people. We paid for a larger room and got upgraded to a suite based on status. The rooms are very large even by normal standards- but massive when you consider them by European standards. Service was excellent from front staff to bell staff to housekeeping. We opted not to eat breakfast but saw a pretty large line for it every morning. The best feature for my husband was the double bathrooms in the suite. Convenient for sure! I personally loved the three way shower head lol. Over all lovely property that is well looked after and maintained. We would definitely stay here again. read more

Am I in A Clockwork Orange? Is this The Rocky Horror Picture Show? No. This is my hotel. Le Meridien Vienna is a great hotel overall, about what you might expect or slightly better from a Le Meridien property, the location gives it a big boost. I'm sorry, its a nice hotel, but the lobby and the room decorations are weird. I embrace weird usually, but this was not what I was expecting at a nice hotel. I confirmed the weirdness with an American couple that was also staying there. In the lobby there are very bright lights, mannequins (that change positions throughout the day!), plastic red leather couches and very strange art all around. The rooms had mannequin hands holding apples and there were little window cases in the desks with colored peppers (yes, peppers). I thought I might be in some kind of modern art museum, but alas no, it was my hotel. Now on to the serious part of the review......The hotel is conveniently located in central Vienna close to many of the tourist spots and a big plus to being nearly on top of the subway (lines 1 2 and 4 at the Karlplatz station). Getting there: one can take a number of different routes to the hotel, the obvious being a taxi (approximately €45-50), the bargain basement (but clearly not the quickest) is the subway which comes into the basement of the Airport and for a bargain basement price of €2.20 you can buy a ticket and take the S7 train to town, connect to any one of the lines that will take you to Karlplatz. The alternative in between these two extremes is the "higher speed" (about 1/2 the time of the S7) CAT train (I think it is about €16 but don't quote me) that will get you to Landstrasse station and from there you can hop the subway or taxi. The minibar, is included which is a nice touch, but it isn't a "normal" minibar - you get one water, one regular coke, one coke light, one apple juice, one orange juice and one beer. Additional drinks need to be "phoned in" and will hit your bill. You cannot easily "trade" for drinks that you might want. It would be a nice option that the hotel stocks the minibar like a normal one and you can have say, 6 drinks out if for free -- of course, this defeats the labor saving current system where nobody needs to check it and there aren't billing issues when you leave. It does get restocked every day that you are there so it is a daily service, not just once for your entire stay. Since it is essentially baked into your room rate, I would recommend that you take advantage of it. The breakfast is much better than average at a (much?) higher price than average. If it isn't in your room rate, it will set you back a "mere" €32 (or about $41 USD at current exchange rates), making it one of the more expensive breakfasts that you will find in a hotel. It is a comprehensive selection of foods and on average, of higher quality - but at this pricing it should be! I had an upgraded room and it had one of the nicer bathrooms I've been in, despite the other weirdness. No problems sleeping even though my window was facing the street. Free Wifi. read more

Le Méridien was great and very welcoming. I've received welcoming emails even prior to arrival asking whether there would be anything I may need. I asked for suggestions on places to eat and was given a variety to choose from. I stayed in an Executive Suite in a corner that had a decent view. The room was great. Very modern and nicely decorated room. There are 2 bathrooms. One full and one half. The full has a deep soaking tub big enough for 2 people and an awesome shower. The shower is large and has 3 adjustable shower heads that can be used simultaneously. The room also includes a complimentary minibar. The breakfast buffet is great. There is quite a bit of variety to choose from and had pretty much exactly what I'd want. One of my favorite things that they have that others don't are smoothies. I've been to SPG hotels around the world and the first that I've noticed to have smoothies. One of the things I liked and disliked at the same time is that they give you their messaging number whether it be via What's App, iMessage or blackberry. It's convenient to just send a text and make a request than to stand in line. Especially if you're not even within proximity to the property. That is what I liked. What I didn't like was noncompliance to my respectful request. I don't really drink alcohol nor sodas. So I requested that they replace the sodas and beer with juice instead and the mineral water for still water. They said that they would be more than happy to via iMessage. This was in the morning around 08:00, upon return was their default mini bar selection. I then in person asked again of course politely the same request around 16:00. I return around 21:00 and still nothing. Everyone is nice, as are the rooms. So, that is my only major complaint. My complements to the experience specialist Nicole Kirchbaumer, there at Le Méridien deserves recognition for making my wife and I feel most welcome there. More so than most properties I've stayed at at SPG properties world wide. read more

Excellent place to stay in Vienna! Centrally located, a block away from the Opera House, right off of Opernring. We stayed there right up until Christmas Eve. Great place, well maintained, super friendly staff. For any Starwood Preferred Guests, they definitely extend their appreciation for your membership, much better than in the United States. The room was contemporary, good decor, and well kept. We had a view of a park. Not the place if you are expecting to get eye-popping skyline views. I would definitely stay there again. The one negative I do have to say is this, GET IRONS WITH STEAM! Yes the room had irons but not with steam, seems petty but since I iron everything its a big deal to me. Still a 5 star place and service. PS. Also apparently the hotel hosts a happy hour party once a month. Its huge with the locals, literally a line around the corner to get in. We had an absolutely amazing time there, everyone, staff and visitors were super nice and everyone was having fun. Don't worry, like I said, this hotel takes care of you. They were not only polite when they took my room service order, they even called back to find out if I was happy with it. When I arrived a little early for check-in and my room wasn't yet ready, there was no hesitation in inviting me to enjoy something to eat while my room was made-up. I am sorry to go against the majority of positive comments for this hotel. I was a bit disappointed. Here's what I didn't like: 1) you book a "Superior Room" for 175 euros per night and you get a tiny double bed where there's now way two people could comfortably sleep together, well, unless they are on a honeymoon and still can't get enough of each other. I have never seen such a small double bed in this hotel category. And in fact, not even in hotels where you pay much less. The web site calls them "verführerische Queen Size Designer-Betten", but they are not verführisch at all. We moved to a "Deluxe Room" which was pretty much the same but at least it had a larger bed. We had to pay for the upgrade (50 euros) of course, but I was happy to do so. 2) I am not sure how long this place has been running, but it requires some refurbishing. This applies to common spaces but also to the rooms, which are, for me, also a bit tastelessly decorated. The "power shower" was a mess, since it was so "powerful" that it flooded the bathroom every time it was used. There were funny noises of undetectable origin both inside the room and outside. The outside doors are so thin you will hear everything happening in the hall. 3) Overall the impression I had walking down the hotel's halls, was of untidiness and disorganisation. The place was pretty messy. We always had the room service trolley positioned next to our door, day and night. It was simply stationed there (seep photo tip). 4) we had ONE tiny bottle of shampoo and ONE tiny bottle of shower gel to share between two. 5) the pool is tiny and the whole wellness area is so brightly lit that you feel you're being questioned by the police at a police station. No way to relax. 6) the dark lifts: scary! :-)) 7) there seems to be some lack of coordination at the staff level. I had explicitly requested a late check out on Sunday because we wanted to rest, but at 9:00 in the morning (on Sunday) someone started to insistently ring the (loud) doorbell. I am not sure what they wanted from us. I did not bother to go to the door and the reception could not tell me the reason why we were disturbed so early. Rather I was asked to put a do not disturb sign on the door if I don't want to be disturbed by room service. Which I think it's implicit at 9:00AM on a Sunday. If you ask me, if you are NOT in Vienna for business (this is the category of guests the hotels focuses on) and you want get a room in the 200+ euros per night range at a nice hotel, do not go to Le Meridien, There's definitely better places in town. read more

Seeing this was a Starwood, we had our expectations relatively high. Things got off to a horrific start however and never quite recovered. Check-in was fine until we got up to the room. It was occupied. They had given us functioning keys to someone else's room. As we fled the room we got into the secondary elevator bank. Upon the doors closing, the lights turned out and we didn't move. In total darkness we finally managed to get the doors back open. Now unnerved at the security and safety of things at Le Meridian, with nothing but a brief apology they proceeded to assign us room 553 instead of 533. They do offer a modest minibar in your room for free (1 each of beer, coke, diet coke, orange juice, apple juice) There is a pool, hot tub, and steam room, although all are rather small. Room locations can also be confusing. Parts of the floorplan can split into two levels. Signs are not clear which level certain rooms are on (see the photo) Location is quite good, staff were ok. read more

Le Meridien Vienna is one of the best Le Meridien hotels I have ever visited. The location is very central - you will be a few minutes away from public transportation, museums and restaurants. The hotel itself is in good shape. The rooms although standard Le Meridien rooms are pretty new and you can't hear noises from your neighbors. The free mini bar is always restocked everyday - but make sure you set your expectation low since the mini bar comprises of orange juice, apple juice, beer and water. There's no club room which is rather disappointing if I have to pinpoint one weakness of this hotel. All and all, I will stay at Le Meridien Vienna again [because demel and cafe Sacher are within walking distance actually]. read more

Stayed here September 2012 Arrived at the Meridien pretty quickly coming from the bus terminal in Vienna. We hopped on the subway and got off at Karlspatz; it's about 15 steps in the direction of traffic from the Karlspatz subway stop. Modern Elegance is how I would sum it up. The front desk staff was pleasant, inviting and enthusiastic. I'm a platinum and was upgraded to an Executive Suite which was amazing. Vaulted ceilings, lots of light and free mini bar (limited to beer, sparkling water and soda juice, but still cool) and of course, lots of space! The hotel room, although modern, is still very charming and warm. Might just be Vienna as well! It's across the street from the Vienna state opera and has just seemed like a great location, centrally located to many sites (Hofburg etc.) I used the pool and gym, very clean and small to medium sized. The pool is a very small lap pool but sufficient to get the job done. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay if you do want some of the old world charm that the others hotel might bring. They rent Bikes and Vespas for a charge. read more

The hotel was centrally located to most attractions (Hofburg Palace, St Stephan's Cathedral, Opera House, museums, Naschmarkt) and restaurants (Figlmuller and Plachutta Wollzeile). Rooms are ultra modern with a frosted glass bathroom wall and floor to ceiling shower with 3 powerful jets. We also had a fully comped minibar for being Starwood members. My only complaint was the unexplained nocturnal scratching (room #434) which seemed to go from the window to the ceiling to the light fixtures. read more

My fiance and I stayed at Le Meridien for two nights to explore Vienna, Austria. The staff were friendly, helpful and overall service was impeccable. We stayed on the Starwood Preferred Guest level on the 3rd floor, I believe. We were provided with complimentary water, coca cola, apple spritzer, and Haribo gummy bears when we entered the room. I had a fantastic experience staying at the Le Meridien and I hope to go back again. My favorite part about this place is hands down the all you can eat breakfast. People working there were very friendly and professional, which made this stay even more enjoyable. The biggest advantage of Le Meridien are rooms. I got a deluxe one on the 5th floor, which was very spacey and well arranged. Huge bed facing windows and inclusive small mini bar. Built in shower with vertical and horizontal water streams. If I could give Le Meridien 6 or even 10 stars, I would. We had a fantastic stay at this hotel for our honeymoon in Austria last November. From the moment that the front staff took our bags to our check out, the Le Meridien staff went out of their way to make sure that we had a comfortable stay. A special shout out to the young man who checked us in at the front desk who was incredibly polite and friendly to American guests. In other European cities (cough cough Paris), I've noticed that hotel service staff can be incredibly rude to Americans but we did not experience this at all in Vienna and at Le Meridien. If you are polite and friendly, the Austrians will do the same. Our room was a deluxe Queen with lots of built closet space. The lighting was modern and sleek with a cool cathedral glass bed headboard with low lighting. The hotel room was spacious with good sound insulation. Our bathroom was HUGE with a full-size tub and stand up shower (no door though). A complimentary mini-bar was stocked each day with a couple of beers and soda which we loved. We also had enough room to store beer and wine that we picked up at the nearby grocery stores which we took advantage of pretty quickly. I also loved the tea caddy that pulled out of one of the shelves with the berry herbal tea. There are also multiple outlets throughout the hotel room which helps in a pinch. If you plan to do any traveling around the city and beyond, this hotel is well-serviced to the Karlsplatz U-Bahn station just a block away as well as the Ringstrasse streetcars and bus system. The Staatstoper (State Opera House) is also only a block away from the hotel as well as the Hofberg, Spanish Riding School, and St. Stephen's Cathedral within short walking distance. You really cannot go wrong on the location. read more

The location is excellent, on the ring road encircling the old historic district. It is a few blocks from the major museums and nearly across the street from the State Opera House. The room was spacious and clean and they even put a few drinks in the fridge free of charge. There were a few things that left a bad taste. First was the breakfast, which we thought came with the (definitely not cheap) price of the room. We were corrected and told that the breakfast buffet was 32 Euros a day! For each of us! That is a very, very expensive breakfast. Thinking they may be serving gold encrusted toast or eggs imported from an organic farm in Scotland or something, but no... it was a fairly normal looking breakfast buffet. We decided not to partake and went out for breakfast, each excellent, at less than half the price. The other negative was the general feel of the staff's attitude. This was our third hotel that we had stayed on during our honeymoon through Austria. We took the train from Salzburg to Vienna and were really hoping that this place delivered especially considering all of the rave reviews. Well, first - Le Meridien did deliver especially on 1) service and 2) honoring my suite night awards. I was hoping for an amazing room in both modern features and space seeing as we had all of our snowboarding gear. When we arrived they were QUICK to help us with our snowboarding gear as that's much appreciated. It took a moment as we must've come during a busy time where everyone was checking in and out and I was just looking around at all of the artsy things they had on the walls. If it had been a little darker, more glitter, and louder music - I may have mistaken this for my favorite chain - the W. Anyways, we were told that we got a great room and that we would love it. They were right and we did. Our suite was bigger than most people's apartments in NYC. To say we had plenty of space to put our items is an understatement. It was a corner suite and we walked into the living room, dining room table to seat four, a separate bathroom off of the living/dining room, BIG bedroom of US standards, separate shower and bathtub. At that point I didn't care that there were trees blocking the window looking to the Opering. Needless to say our room was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and more importantly there were PLENTY of OUTLETS!!! The biggest pet peeve of mine is having a lack of outlets in this day and age and thankfully my husband and I weren't fighting for an outlet! We ordered room service for breakfast the next day and everything was as ordered. I like when people pay attention to me and put light oil on my omelet. It makes my day that much better. The location of this hotel allows you to walk pretty much anywhere in the Inner Stadt. We had a tour and we weren't rushing to make sure we caught the train. Karlsplatz (u-bahn) is really close. When you exit the hotel and cross the little service road. Keep going straight and you'll be right at Karlsplatz in 3 minutes. From there you can go anywhere. If that's not your thing you could walk 8 minutes to the Albertina, or walk a bit further to the shops, maria hilferstrasse anyone? Everything is right outside of your window. It felt good to have Le Meridien as part of our honeymoon. You can't go wrong staying at this hotel for business or pleasure. When we go back to Vienna again - there's no question where we'll be staying. read more

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel is centrally located in a good spot. Close to museums, cultural activities and lots of good restaurants & cafes. My room was large and modern. Very comfortable and clean. I paid extra per night so it included breakfast buffet. The food was ok and the service overall good. The cleaning staff seemed a bit unorganized and not consistent; didn't clean the rooms on time. One of the bathrooms (had 2 rooms) didn't have soap upon checking in. The towels are not high quality and had to ask for extra towels everyday as they only left one bath towel in the bathroom. My room was nonsmoking but could smell someone had smoked in it previously. read more

Good location and breakfast, although we have an executive room, the beds are old and uncomfortable, the hotel maintanence placed some boards under the mattres but still did not solve the problem. The whole hotel needs refurbishing, and it is not what marriott should be. read more

Superb hotel with all the best features and services. Upgraded to suite when front desk noticed that it was my wife's birthday.
