Had breakfast at this branch of LPQ last week and was happy to find it as good as it was the first time we visited this location. Service was excellent and friendly. Food was typical LPQ food but it was good...love their bread, their avocado mash, and of course the quinoa is a favorite. Prices are very reasonable. Love this location! La Pain was one of the best breakfast and brunch chain we found in Barcelona and Paris ... their Healthy breakfast choices are tasty and healthy at the same time. What I like about this chain is how attentive they are and how welcome I am made to feel no matter which of their locations I visit.

They had a nice variety of options here, with a bend towards healthy stuff. They even had some fun juices on the menu--not that they had it all in stock, but it was nice to see the variety of drinks here that were different than so many other cafes. This is one of the few places that had entree size salads on offer, avocado toast and lots of brunch type items. The place was packed and it looked like a number of locals got takeaway. Sitting outside was a little disconcerting, because even though the patio is covered, on a super windy day, it really felt like the little roof was going to blow away. A staff member came out with some saran wrap and used that to somewhat tie down or anchor the roof to the walls of the temporary shelter. We went twice for breakfast while we were in Paris- a very nice little cafe with some authentic French pastries! As an Australian I was really looking forward to authentic croissants and I was not let down. I also had porridge one morning which was quite small but very tasty. The coffee was luke warm and even though I asked for a latte I was given what seemed to be a cappuccino without the chocolate on top. Not sure if that is how lattes usually are in Paris but either way it was a very week coffee, and basically tasted like frothed milk. Still nice though not what I asked for. read more

I didn't experience the slow service like others, but then again I came here for a late afternoon tea on a rainy day. Being a Bay Area person, I liked that their organic offerings on the menu. I got cup of green tea and enjoyed the people watching. Our server was polite and brought out our teas quickly. After placing order and waiting 10 minutes was told 2 of the 5 ingredients for the vegetarian baguette were not available and offered tuna instead. Brought to LPQ by a local friend for brunch on a Saturday... the menu was worth every centime. On top of being able to peruse the local Saturday flea market across the street, the meal was everything I wanted it to be (without being excessive). Our brunch menu included: A bowl of coffee (or other hot beverage) Fresh squeezed orange juice Croissant or pain chocolate Yogurt Large basket of fresh assorted breads Numerous toppings (butter, praline spread, strawberry jam, apricot marmalade, chocolate and white chocolate spreads, honey, etc) Soft-boiled egg Platter of salad, three cheeses, nuts, ham, prosciutto, and smoked salmon I left feeling pleasantly full and anxious to return (apparently they make a killer cheesecake). If you're in need of a good brunch fix in a friendly location (large tables for group seating) in a relaxed atmosphere (service is a bit slow, even by Parisian standards)... you need to check out Le Pain Quotidien. read more

Visited October 3, 2015 I'm going to give this place 5 stars because I really can't say anything negative about it. Le Pain Quotidien apparently is a chain... bakery/restaurant. This was our first restaurant while we spent 10 days in Paris. We found it completely by walking around trying to find some place to eat after flying from Newark and we were a bit tired. It was convenient, being around the corner from our hotel and turned out to be so good we had to come back and make it one of our last restaurant meals in Paris. My wife and I are big fans of cheese, so we ordered a "plat fromage" (cheese plate) and a "plat charcuterie" (a plate of cold meats) Camembert is the 'big cheese' in France (no put intended) and just about any time you ask for cheese in Paris (or in any part of France I would imagine) you're going to get Camembert... and it will always be fantastic. (My guarantee!) So we had some Camembert, some goat cheese brie and a couple other more firm cheeses I can't remember, but they were all amazing! The meat platter consisted of a soppressata type sausage, some prosciutto, a little duck pâté and some ham. The ham was "meh" but the rest was just SOOO good. All this of course was paired up with some of France's famous baguettes... and a bottle of Bordeaux because we were, of course, in France! The Bordeaux here was the only bottle of wine that was organic and did not contain sulfites. My sister and brother in law had come back from Paris a few months earlier and were raving about the Bordeaux (both red and white) in Paris and how they didn't contain sulfites. We obviously went to different restaurants because in every other restaurant the wines contained sulfites. For me, that's not a big deal. I've read where sulfites only effects those people that may suffer from asthma. Thankfully, I or my wife do not. I did not see one bottle of wine from the US. I think France is still upset that the US (California) has been getting such great reviews on their wines. Personally, I didn't think the "French wines" were "all that." I prefer a nice California Pinot Noir or a Malbec from the Mendoza Valley of Argentina. But that's me. I think pretty much anywhere you eat in Paris you're going to get a very good meal. The selections are much more limited and the portions are less too, although for me, that's a good thing. (I need to head over to the gym right now!) If you are in Paris and you see Le Pain Quotidien and you're hungry... rest assured you're going to get a really great meal. read more

I've always loved Le Pain Quotidien since first discovering it while living in Madrid. It was my source of healthy food in the midst of a city full of a little less than healthy tapas. So when I made the move to Paris, it was only a matter of time before I felt the urge to go to one of the many LPQ locations in the city. So far, I've been to four of them, and I can't say I'm very impressed. What's notable is that the service is ALWAYS super slow, regardless of the LPQ I've been to. If the place is full, you can count on not being served until 30 minutes later, and then having your food about 20 minutes after that. The food is usually quite good, healthy being the keyword. However, yesterday when I went to this particular location, I had a really surprising experience when I ordered a simple fruit salad. It had about five slices of a tiny banana, two strawberries, a few blueberries, and the rest, being the majority of the bowl, was made up of two different kind of melons. Melons. In November? They were practically tasteless, I might as well have been eating cucumber. I thought LPQ did their cooking with what's in season - apparently not. So to summarize: I think the dishes that drew me to LPQ in Madrid were a much needed compliment to the usual bar tapas, but in Paris, I'd say there are plenty of other restaurants to go to for a nice, green meal. read more

Let me say first that I love LPQ and frequent it often in NY. That said, this place didn't quite measure up. First is the location. It lacks the look and feel of a normal LPQ bakery. Feels kind of shoved in there. We initially sat on the covered patio, only to be smoked out by a guest 3 tables away, and so moved inside. Ordered the quiche Lorraine. Nothing special. It's the same standard fare, but in Paris, the bar is raised? Ordered my standard LPQ Belgian waffle, but it came burned! Asked the staff for a refresh, but it never arrived. Service, while nice, was extraordinarily slow, seemed confused even though the place was far from full. Still trying to put my finger on what tipped the scales against this place - I think it is the value. It's pretty mediocre food at exceptional prices. It just wasn't a fair trade. I'll continue to eat here in NY, but this place just didn't work in Paris at this price point. There are just far better options. read more

My BF and I stumbled in after getting recommendations from the concierge at our hotel. We ordered two chocolate croissants, a spinach mushroom quiche, a fresh strawberry smoothie and an inexplicable order of French fries. The croissants and quiche were good but nothing to write home about the fries were hot and crisp just like I love them and the strawberry smoothie was really refreshing and delicious. The kicker was when our bill arrived at it was almost $90! Once I recovered from sticker shock we decided to brush it off since we were on vacation and chalk it up to a learning curve. The one in Saint Honoré is my least preference, as the table set up is surprisingly crowded and less comfortable than the other 3. Fresh bread I've never been a big fan of succesful formulas being franchised all over the world, but for me Le Pain Quotidien is the exception. Love to go to just any Pain Quotidien for my luchnes, and the one at St. Honoré is as good as any. When you get a salad, you actually get a real salad, with quality poducts, and the garnishments actually have real taste to them. Not like what happens so often in Paris that they just put a cheap tasteless piece of (dried) tomato on your salad just to be able to write an extra product to the salad on the menu. Le Pain Quotidien is a great little breakfast/brunch hang out located in a central location and even caters for coeliacs too. The gluten free bread is amongst the best I've tasted anywhere and comes as a generous serving size with a variety of spreads (jams and Nutella) when ordered as toast. My wife had the granola and a brioche bun and was raving about it so much we went back again for breakfast on our last day. Service is prompt and well mannered, definitely worth a visit if your looking for quick and affordable meal. read more
