Wow! Such a great start to my trip to Paris! Now I know that this is a chain but boy the desserts are amazing! Eric Kayser belongs to the Maison Kayser family. This was our first dessert spot in Paris and it set the bar very high. We shared a chocolate dessert called CARRE ROYALE. It was a phenomenal dessert with a super crunchy crumb layer at the bottom, topped with chocolate hazelnut mousse, again topped with chocolate cake and then chocolate ganache. There was so much chocolate in this dessert that we were completely blown away! The combination of all different textures of chocolate was just perfect. We also tried the complimentary cranberry walnut bread which was great as well! I would definitely try more of their desserts!

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

So Angelina's fine. For me, it's a bit hyped up. My sister, loved it. She even bought their…read moreprepackaged bottle of hot chocolate to take home. This hot chocolate is decadent. It really tastes like melted chocolate with a bit of milk mixed in to make it more drinkable. We went at a bit of an off time, late morning and it wasn't overly busy. We saw our server once and I couldn't recall who he was when it came time to get the bill. I asked a hostess walking by for our check and she told me to ask our server while walking away. We were able to flag another server down eventually but the whole process just took too long. The tables for four have chairs that don't quite tuck in causing for a bit awkward seating. If you like really thick hot chocolate, give it a try but otherwise ok to miss this one. Plenty of good hot chocolate throughout the city.

The portion sizes were excellent for the price. I was expecting smaller portions, so I was pleasantly surprised when my plate came out packed with food and definitely worth the value. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, especially the location near the Eiffel Tower. Great food, generous portions, and an overall good experience!

I was very worried about the lime being extremely long due to the time we came at. But when we arrived we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait. The service does a great job managing the line and trying to pull groups out of line to fit specific spots available if they can. The manager asked if there were any groups of three available and luckily we were able to get a table quicker than we thought! We were seated outside at a very small table. The tables are very close together and it is extremely hard to move around the chairs, etc. the interior is a little less tight, but nonetheless it is still a little chaotic to go about. Service was good and our food came out within about 10-15 minutes of ordering. I loved the classic Parisian atmosphere and really enjoyed being outside. We ended up ordering their famous hot chocolate and creme, the strawberries & creme, coffees, and a croissant. The prices here are a little steep considering what you are getting. But I definitely think it's an experience and the price reflects that. The hot chocolate was extremely rich and luscious--like nothing I've had before. It was almost reminiscent is drinking straight chocolate sauce. The fresh creme that accompanied it was delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I tried one of my friends strawberries and thought they were extremely fresh, but not necessarily worth the price. Cappuccino was pretty standard, but I enjoyed it. The croissant probably isn't the best in the city, but it was flaky and buttery, with lots of layers (exactly how it should be). Overall, I was happy I got to experience dining at Carette! We only waited about 30 minutes for a table and I think it was worth it. While I don't think it is life changing, I do think it is definitely worth trying and a fun experience. I enjoyed the creme that it came with just as much as the drink itself, if not more. Service was good and they ran a tight ship. If I were to go to Paris again, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. But if it is your first time in the city or you haven't been, I would recommend!

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ Notre Dame Granny Smith Apple Confit - Was refreshing! I couldn't tell if this was a real apple or some fancy French creation made to look like one - that's how real it looked! The mousse and apple bits were cold & delicious and the chocolate shell was good, but not sure if it was worth the price at €7.5. + Pain Au Chocolat Cookie - Verrrry good chocolate chip cookie, chocolate croissant mashup. Only thing that we were missing was some good ol' milk! + Almond Croissant - Once again, delicious! Solid croissant and definitely a good grab and go candidate. = Citronnade - Was just OK. Lemonade that was on the watered down side, but was somewhat refreshing because I was dying of thirst. THE SERVICE ----------------------- - Employee who helped us with our order was friendly, but the cashier was a bit blah and not exactly the friendliest person, especially when we asked for extra utensils and napkins. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ - Smallish, tight interior that you can dine in at, but don't be surprised if the next table is sitting on top of you. + There are also 5 outdoor tables on the narrow street. - Entrance is tight too. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- + Even though this bakery is ranked highly on Tripadvisor, there was no crowd on the Monday morning that we swung by. Line moved superfast.
