Good variety of classic French food. Recommend hot wine during winter visits. We had good service and a classic ambiance.

    The Best escargot!
    Danielle G.

Without question the best escargot I've had. Those big guys weren't the easiest to remove from their shell, but worth the fight. Not chewy, just perfect and the sauce no words to explain how delicious. After shopping the antique market (which is unbelievable, millions time better then any I've shop in American), I was so hungry. This cafe/restaurant is in the middle of Paul Bert market was a perfect find, it's very crowded so be prepared. A true French lunch experience, with a very experienced waitress yelling at you and speaking super fast, rude but lovely lol. This is just a classic cafe I hope to eat at again!

Basing my review solely on our morning coffee break. They serve the most devine chocolate chaud !! On a rainy day while shopping the Puce, we needed a coffee break. Large indoor seating space, and sidewalk seating with heat lamps. Parisians sit outside year around. The hot chocolate was served as a small pitcher of steamed milk, a vessel of rich dark chocolate syrup, and a bowl of whipped cream with chocolate sprinkles. Ya baby! You pour and mix to your own taste. Restroom is downstairs. Important when out all day. It was very clean and a cute nautical theme, like using Captain Nemo's. :)

All good flea markets need a place to stop for a bit. Very bright and welcoming. Sat outside and asked that they turn on the heat lamps. They did with only the slightest of an eye-rolls. It was a bit cold and rainy out so I'm sure she didn't want to come out into the elements. Just a pot of green tea. I got a true pot of hot water with a green tea bag. I found it relaxing. It was just what I needed to regroup and get some energy for more flea marketing.

Amazing find in the St Ouen Flea market. Friendly server, authentic food , and crowd of locals - no tourists at all. I had the steak, my wife had tartare, and kids had burgers. Loved it, thanks for a great experience.

Do not order the milkshake here!!! It was a hot day and we we stopped here to order milkshakes and salads for lunch. They brought out huge glasses of room temperate, watered down, flavorless, zero sweetness "milkshakes" they were nothing like milkshakes. I had ordered a cookies and cream milkshake and it also came out as watered down, warm milk with zero cookies or cream in it. When I complained they became annoyed and said we were wrong. Gross, expensive, disappointing ripoff

After 3 hours of shopping and haggling over the prices of linens, art and silver, I was ready for a decent meal. And I got just that over lunch at Le Paul Bert. Located in what may be the world's largest outdoor market, this place was p-a-c-k-e-d for lunch on a sunny Saturday. There may be a way to fit more tables in the maze of rooms, but I doubt it. To get in the seat, tables and chairs had to be re-positioned. Once we were seated, we were stuck. Glad we didn't need a comfort break. Lunch was fine. The waiter knew little English, but I knew enough of the menu to get by and lunch was fine. I had choucroute garnie and it was quite nice. I usually don't eat sausage, so I considered this a true treat. And I ate a bunch of it. The sausage was tasty and the potatoes were good. But it was overpriced. Can't give it more than 3 stars. My wife, now two months removed from the trip, doesn't even remember what she ate, and I don't either. So it could not have been that memorable. Next time, I may grab something quicker than lose an hour of shopping. But if you want a break, and don't mind paying a bit too much with decent, at best, service, try this spot.

Throughout our trip from Provence, Basque Country and Paris, I joked that they must hate me for ordering my beef med b/c it was so much tougher compared to our beef. Anyway, it's just different. Our server spoke English fluently and was such a hoot...full of personality & joy. Per his recommendation, we ordered it med-rare b/c it continues cooking table side on the sizzling platter. We ate too much. It's a lot of food to split the cote de boeuf btn two. Comes with very good chubby fries and 3 sauces. TBH, I didn't love the sauces. Luckily we walked 6miles that day and skipped lunch. Started with a garden salad, but sadly we had no room for dessert. Reservations via email. We managed to get a 9pm reso, last minute, I bet due to a cancellation. They have 2seatings...6pm & 9pm.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.

That's not acceptable. The food, however, was. Hence my difficulty in giving one rating. Our 3 dishes tried were indeed solid. Generous servings of seafood in the bouillabaisse, and I have no qualms whatsoever with my cuise de grenouille and foie gras salads. Bread kept us alive. The free Cote du Rhône glass was appreciated for check-in! Our server had his head permanently at a 30 degree angle, staring at his mobile. Tis a shame. But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location. Even the dark end of the small street feels illicit!
