Today, there were quite a few diners including one large group. A single waitress was working the entire restaurant. My wife ordered a mushroom and bacon omelette and I ordered the smoked meat eggs Benedict. My wife noted that her omelette was overcooked but still tasted good. There was a tiny serving of sliced, grilled potatoes that were overcooked too. The baked beans were cold. My breakfast was similar to hers for the potatoes and beans. They brought out ham Benedict and had to remake mine with the smoked meat. When it finally arrived, it tasted good although the smoked meat did not have much smoky taste. There are a lot of people who like this restaurant but it was not to our taste.

The spaghetti was good, served quickly and nice and hot. The sauce seemed like a bolognese style minus any dairy. I say that because it had finely minced carrots and celery (I think) in it which I've seen in recipes for bolognese but don't typically see in home or commercially prepared spaghetti sauces in the US. I would have appreciated some grated cheese on top of it or available to add myself but none was offered and I opted not to ask. Overall I think this is a good example of a mid-level cafe type eatery. Not fine dining but not a greasy spoon either.

Well now that things are back to normal, it is not the case anymore. I've been there three time so far since the spring. The first time was for coffee. The place was pretty empty, I ordered a cappuccino. It took a fair amount of time to get it. Ok, I give it to you that it's not the kind of coffee that you immediately pour in a cup, but that are some limit. The second time I went, I wanted a beer, I said so to hostess, I was seated and given the drink menu. When the server finally came to take my order, she informed me that they couldn't alcohol alone. That I had to eat. Why wasn't I informed of that when I walked in? It would have been easier instead of arguing with the waitress. Last Sunday, I was back. I wanted to have some sort of breakfast. I walked inside not wanting to sit on the patio. It took over 15 minutes to have the hostess come to me. I was finally sit and again, I had to wait for a waitress for a period that is more than what is really required. She asked me if I wanted to start with something to drink. I said yes, gave her my order for a cappuccino and she disappeared. About 20 minutes later, she comes back with my coffee and to take my order. I give her my order and 30 minutes after giving my order, I still haven't received it. By that time, my coffee was done so I left money on the table for the coffee and I left. I would gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking that she is new. But this was the end of the lunch time and this is the same type of service I received on prior visits. In my book, they are done.
