Upstairs from the corner lounge area we snagged on a November Friday night

As far as Irish pubs go This one missed the mark Its got the old fashioned feel But no Irish spark They price like they're downtown Or like they were well known Or as if they were gourmet Or something unique of their own Which is not the case I guarantee you that There's really no reason To keep coming back The prices expensive, The beer just average The red wine served cold The food not earth shattering But the decor is homey At least on the 2nd floor Service was decent But alas not much more The chacuterie platter Though plentiful indeed With poorly chosen cheeses And thick butchered meat Did not come with hummus Or mustard or confit Though did come with figs Tough and dry as can be Would i come here again? Well I suppose yes, I would. But it's by far not the best That is offered in this hood. --------- Installment 37 poetry reviews Anecdote: Imagine a typical hipster couple. Ok you've got that image in your head? Good. Now then, as we sat for about 2 hours ish give or take, I noticed that the hipster couple sitting at a table nearby got up and left after finishing ...shortly there after another couple sat...IDENTICAL to the couple that just left. Same exact attire down to the footwear up to the eyewear. My friend argued with me that it was the same couple until i pointed out the one difference: tattooed arms. We found it amusing. But you may find it a reason to go or not so take it for what u want. :) They need to come up with some unique trademarks (Their "Irish Poutine" on the breakfast menu is just a regular been-there-done-that breakfast poutine -.-). Their cheeses on the charcuterie platter had no pizazz no variety, they need to add an old one or a ripe one or a hard one or ANYTHING different. The cured meats were sliced crooked and thick: I mean at least pay attention to PRESENTATION at those prices guys. The red wine served unbearably cold. I mean, I know it's a pub, but if you're guna serve it (and at those prices)...serve it properlyyyyy please! I will give this place another shot but I'm not expecting to be wowed.

Nice place to get together with friends away from the downtown scene. Service was a little disorganised which hopefully will improve.

McKibbin's Irish Pub - As you come up into the resto-pub, the bar is front and center. Is this a surprise? Note that the noise level can be high(er).

I ended up going to this Irish pub twice in one weekend because my family ended up having a pretty…read moregreat time there! It's a fairly large space with seating out front as well as a downstairs bar area and an upstairs area that then opens up to a small backyard area! The music was pretty ok, nothing I wouldn't expect from a local bar. However, on the Sunday night I was there, there was a live singer/guitarist in the main area, which candidly I could have done without. Lots of TVs with sports on to watch. The staff was nice as well and I enjoyed wine, an espresso martini and a very large glass of cider. I'm writing this review mainly because this might have been some of the best poutine I've ever had, flavor wise. The curry was really something and we ate every last fry and piece of cheese. I would come back here just for their poutine.

Irish eateries in M cities - 2 of 2…read more I have always wanted to eat Irish food in Montreal. Montreal has had a thriving Irish community centered mostly in Pointe-Charles but, like other European groups, they've disbanded little by little and moved further out or to exurbia. I have an acquaintance with immigrant Irish parents whose family moved from Montreal to Chateauguay on the Rive Sud, which is practically in New York state! I once found an Irish pub (that's still there) located on St.-Denis, practically across from Pizzeria dei Compari. Their menu has always seemed spotty because they appear more focused on the pub than on the eatery. (Sure, the mark-up is better on booze than on food they have to cook.) Thus, it was back to the drawing board. I did find a place on the west side, in the Financial District and near McGill. Its name is McKibbin's Irish Pub and it's on Rue Bishop. I was excited that they featured shepherd's pie (which I was looking for), but not expecting too much. I did order it, along with a cup of coffee. The shepherd's pie was good, but not up there with some of the memorable ones I've eaten. Shepherd's pie that is just good is where the meat is by far the dominant flavor. The ones that are excellent have a more cohesive flavor, where you seemingly taste all of the ingredients simultaneously. I don't know if those are big shoes to fill since some restaurants have delivered. The service was indeed amicable and I got zero attitude for ordering coffee in a pub. The price was fair in the context of being in the Financial District. While there's nothing wrong with it, McKibbin's is not my cup of tea, either. It's darker and parts of it are louder because of the music and/or karaoke. For the quiet I was seeking, I sat in another area. Note that, like many restaurants in this area and on nearby Rue Crescent, they are up a short flight of steps from the sidewalk. It had snowed some and there was some slush on the steps. So, whether you're 25, 55, or 85, hold on to the railing. If I'm craving Irish food, it's to eat. I'm probably better off going to an Irish restaurant during the lunch hour. Again, McKibbin's is perfectly fine if you like Irish and pub food together with libations and the general ambiance. Since I'm not a Montrealer (shucks), I doubt I'll be going back. There are foods and ambiances in which to eat that I prefer more ... and that list in Montreal might be limitless. McKibbin's on Rue Bishop has a solid following and it's shown by reviews and ratings that are good.

Review for their Quartier Dix30 location, 2025…read more.. Horrible ending to our night, false accusations by their staff... My friends and I went to this pub as a portion of our celebrating one of their birthdays this evening. For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.

Horrible service. They didn't let 3 of my peers with REAL ID in the club. And when my friend…read moreconfronted them, the next time she came in they told her she was "the bitch with the attitude". Tremendously rude bouncers. Don't recommend.

My experience with McCarold's has been strictly through delivery via food delivery services due to…read morethe pandemic, but every. single. order has been spectacular, even the ones that take magical trips in the wrong direction... I'm reviewing their veggie burgers here, and the good news is they're one of those places where you can swap out the burger patty of any of their multiple burger options for a veggie one. Their fries are fantastic, reminiscent of twice-fried chip truck fries I grew up with, and their buns and standard addition of crispy onions are pretty great all things considered. Their food travels *extremely* well, and their packaging keeps everything quite sustained, even after 20-30 minutes of delivery time. We've ordered from them roughly 5 times and the average price for dinner for two, with tax/tips/delivery ends up being between $45-$55, which is pretty standard for ordering door to door service in the current climate. I *have* been to their physical location and it's a lovely spot, right next to UdeM, and like many places now, their poutine sauce *is* vegetarian. They have a decent section of beers and scotch as well.
