What a disappointment!! I love wine bars and was so excited about coming here. The bad service started with everyone else being shown the chalkboard with the 3 course dinner specials and being given descriptions of the menu items. My friend and I were handed menus and told basically to figure it out based on the starred items. As a wine lover, I love trying and learning about new wines and have attended tastings around the world. Here I was given the briefest of descriptions while I saw the waiter being friendly and descriptive with everyone else. I was never offered dessert which was well and good because at that point I just wanted to get my check and get out of there. On the good side the prawns were very good and the red wine was delicious. But I cant tell you what wine I had since the waiter barely took any time to tell me about it!! Thankfully there are 100s of other lovely restaurants in Nice that I can spend my money at in the future!! AND...I almost forgot...my friend never got her lemonade and I never got the dry white I ordered that was supposed to pair with the prawns! I ordered red to sip on during the long wait between my cheese app and prawn entree...but I expected the white to still be delivered when the prawn came out. read more

A small "wine-centric" restaurant located just off fashionable Rue Victor Hugo serving a menu filled with local seasonal ingredients. We made reservations for their opening time of 7 pm as it was our last night and we didn't want to be out too late. While they have a few outside (along a busy street) tables, we opted to sit inside. One of their hallmarks is the large number (40+) wines by the glass and their insistence that you taste it before committing (nice). They also provide thought wine recommendations for each of their dishes along with bi-lingual menus. We opted for the oh so amazing Baked Camembert to start. It comes in a tiny warm crock drizzled with a touch of honey then it is set afire at the table with a shot of Calvados. It is served with thin slices of green apple and crostini-I could have just eaten this-sooooooo good. They were serving lots of them across the restaurant. For our main dishes my wife got the creamy Truffle cream pasta with egg on top while I got the life-changing Roasted free range pork chop with dauphinois potatoes and seasonal mixed vegetables. The accompanying au jus was delicious with the tender pork served perfectly. The desserts vary but we snagged the last slice of the lemon meringue tart-super good. You cannot go wrong eating here and it's just a short walk from the Jean Medecine tram stop. Highly recommended read more

We ate dinner here on Friday Sep 27, 2019. Le Vingt4 has both inside and outside dining and we chose to sit outside which is always our preference if its an option. The food and service were excellent. For our starter we enjoyed the Camembert Flambé with Calvados. Delicious! For our entrée I enjoyed the Sea Bream and my wife enjoyed the filet. Would you like to eat at a lovely restaurant in Nice not far from the Promenade, yet avoid the tourists (good luck!), but not be afraid if you don't speak perfect French? Le Vingt4 is your place. This restaurant was recommended to us by a Nice native - and it did not disappoint! It's a cozy little spot run by a charming husband and wife team who cherish their food. We thoroughly enjoyed our time (do make a booking) with a later dinner reservation (we had no kids with us! hooray!) at 9pm. It's a short 15 minute walk from the Promenade, so don't fret if you are staying on the strip of hotels or nearby, there are non-picture-food-menu places ready to serve you excellent fare. I enjoyed the cod, my husband the steak -- and some great starters of tomato salad. The wine was divine, the service on point and we were truly happy we had made the small walk over. Greeted by the friendly owner on arrival and immediately sat at a comfortable table in the dining room. 6 of us started with 2 bottles of rose that was delicious. Food was delicious started with the foie gras, breadsticks and the torched Camembert. I had the rib steak which was perfectly cooked and others had the pork chop and sea bream which they all said was very tasty. Definitely recommend and we felt very comfortable as visitors. read more

Good service and good food. The staff was very attentive and helpful with choosing of the food and wine. Great also for us that are gluten intolerant as dishes that are safe for us are marked clearly in the menu. We had some chorizo and cured ham as "tapas" with our drink and the meat was very good. Had the carpaccio of bresaola for starter and that was unfortunately a bit bland. The meat was fantastic, but strangely served with slices of some cheese (not Parmesan) and some arugula. Was missing some olive oil, balsamic or something to give the dish a proper balance. For the main I had fish which was cooked very well, but once again could have carried some stronger flavoring. Over all a good experience, but I find that the food did not reach all the way. read more

We had the pork chop and truffle risotto, both were the best we've ever had. The gourmet Phillipe recommended the best wine pairings and let us try it first before we purchased. The service was fast and friendly. The place fills up at 8:30pm. We walked in without a reservation at 7:30pm and were seated. This place will make adjustments to your food if you request it. I don't get why this place has a good grade. The place is pretty ordinary. The food was ok, and although the waiter was really nice and polite there were some mistakes, there was no salt, napkins on the table. And I order some steak that I had almost to clean on the table (lots of fat within) and although I had asked for rare it came raw. It was a disappointing experience for me. read more

My wife and I made a reservation via the fork on a Saturday night. It was busy but not crazy busy. The staff were amazing, they even put on a song from my hometown! They were also super nice and let me try to talk french with my terrible voyageur accent. We started off with the brie and mascarpone + truffle appetizer. I can't recommend this dish enough. My wife hates brie...at least she did until she tried this. Out of this world amazing flavours! For our mains my wife had a guinea hen which she greatly enjoyed. I opted for the lamb which was also quite delicious. Both dishes came with sides of vegetables, roasted tomatoes and a artichoke (With cheese?). Everything was amazingly good, we only regret we didn't have room for dessert! I have had so many bad/meh meal experiences in Europe and this place exceeded my expectations. read more

Where do I start?? This husband and wife combo have a passion for food, wine and service. With ten days throughout France and Italy, this was by far our favorite meal. I had a Cesar salad and the chicken; fabulous. My husband had cammabert (spelling?) and the tourbot; the cheese was out of this world and he loved the fish. We both also had the gratin potatoes... good god they were AMAZING! Erick did an amazing job pairing the wines, and setting us up with digestifs. The highlight; he came out with a box of cigars and his private stash of Don Papa rum. He then set us up on a private patio to enjoy the cocktails and cigars. Prices were right and the experience was beyond memorable. An absolute MUST in Nice! read more

We arrived in Nice very late on a Saturday night and asked at the hotel where we might find some good food. The hotel recommended a place but when we arrived, they said they were full. We asked if they could recommend another place and they recommended this. We arrived here and again were told they were too full. I could see they had two open tables so pled with the woman and she finally said ok but that they were running out of many items. We were starving and willing to eat whatever they had so she seated us. Soon the owner came over to our table with two glasses of champagne and apologized that it would be a long wait because they only serve cooked to order fresh food. We said no problem. They were indeed very busy. But when our food finally did arrive it was FANTASTIC!!! This is not just a wine bar. The food was better than most restaurants and definitely the best we had in Nice. Plus the staff was SOOOO GRACIOUS. Go there. You won't be disappointed. read more
