    All the seafood things

I came to L'Antica for dinner solo on my last night in Nice. My hotel recommended it when I wanted seafood nearby without a reservation. At first they said they were fully booked, but someone kindly let me sit at a large table and took great care of me. I had the seafood platter with octopus, salmon, razor clams, and gambas and it was amazing. I started with a glass of Prosecco and ended up ordering a bottle. When a large party arrived, he moved me outside with no problem. To top it off, he gave me a limoncello shot and even introduced me to everyone as his friend, which was hilarious. Truly an amazing experience.

It's a must go for meat eaters! Absolutely delicious cuts. Honest, clear tastes. Would definitely go back! The waitress was really quick!

This was the meat for 2! Lamb chops, pork chops and ribs eye.

Overall a good experience and I would come back. The only bad thing really was the sitting space, it was crammed. The food was really tasty and prepared well. The service was nice, especially for non French speakers, the staff was friendly and helped with a lot of the translation.

It seems to be misleading by the Yelp reviews here. Although the portion is good and the decors are nice, the food is not nearly good. For a place with a BBQ oven and open fire, I would expect the meat to be perfect. However, the ribeye I got was half over cooked and under seasoned. The fries that came along was soggy. The wine glass was dirty and chipped. Although I would say the salad and pasta seemed to look better. Additionally, the lack of desert choice was another miss.

Sometimes smaller neighborhood restaurants are wonderful. Such is the case with L' Antica in the Musiciens area of Nice. It is a small local restaurant with an excellent grill that makes great beef, lamb, and duck dishes. If you go, get the French fries, they are the best I have had in Nice. We asked, and they are cooked in safflower oil, but they are very crispy and rich. I also had the mixed vegetables which are also wonderful. Get a reservation in the outside terrace, otherwise you will be squeezed in between other tables inside, which can be warm because of the interior grill. Any of the grilled meats are wonderful. I am in Nice for another month, staying in the Musiciens neighborhood and will definitely be returning to L' Antica.

    Grande portion de nourriture.

Amazing food. Stumbled on this place. Probably the best meal we had in Nice. Pasta was superb as was the Chicken.

So happy that prime rib was on the menu, but when I ordered it, it came more of a rib eye which is typically my favorite.

Also note there is no cell service or WiFi service in the restaurant. Nice ambiance in the restaurant and away from the hustle and bustle of Nice. We ordered the squid, Foie Gras and Filet Mignon. All 3 were very good though I am not a fan of the Fois Gras but it came with a nice salad and bread. The squid was seasoned well and cut thin and flash fried. The filet was sliced and cooked perfect The potatoes were great and also nice salad came with it. Service was ok. Prices Moderate.

I was sooo looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately, I was left with cheese on my face (sorry no eggs here, only cheese, cheese, and more cheese). We arrived a bit early for our reservation (15-20 minutes), but we were seated immediately, which was nice; the table was stuffed into a corner, but at least we were seated. Unfortunately, that was about where the niceness ended. The restaurant is supposed to be housed in a former cheese cave, which I thought would be exciting and romantic, instead it was just hot and cramped. This is one of those restaurants that tries to accommodate as many diners as possible, so we were basically eating right on top of another couple (who were incredibly displeased, even stating, "this service is abysmal"). We could literally hear every word spoken up to two tables away, so don't expect to have any privacy, except from the servers that is. Service was unpleasant and extremely minimal. Our server took our food and drink order, delivered our drinks, another server apologized for the delay in receiving our meal, and our original server delivered our meal...and that was it. They didn't refill our water bottle, ask if I wanted another glass of wine, stop by to see if we liked our meal -or needed else (which we did), or even bring a check. After waiting too long for our check, table full of finished plates and empty cups, we eventually just got up and headed upstairs. Apparently you're supposed to head upstairs to pay, but we'd have never known since our server was doing they're best David Copperfield impression. Now for the food. The kitchen was tiny tiny, so it's no wonder the menu consists of cheese for the starter, cheese for the entree, and cheese for dessert. Sprinkled in-between the assortment of cheeses was a steak masquerading on the menu as "Aubrac Bib", whatever that means, and the Tartiflette, think pork belly scalloped potatoes and the only thing you should order here. The Tartiflette was microwave-lunch small, but it was hot, rich, and pretty meaty for the size. I got the Camembert (takes 30 minutes) and it was pretty awful as a meal. It's not even really a dish. They literally opened up the wooden wheel of cheese, peeled back the paper, sprinkled a few things on top, then baked for 30 minutes, so it was more of just a cheese dish. It arrived-paper still covering the top, and was served with some under-seasoned fingerling potatoes and a salad. The salad was good and potatoes were okay, but the cheese was so one-note, it needed meat or veggies to dip in it. Unfortunately, I only had the few potatoes and two small bits of baguette to dunk, so my only option was to eat it like soup, which I did not-so half remained wasted and uneaten. We would have liked to have eaten dessert, but after the poor meal, and lack of even offering dessert, "How could we?". I'm giving 2 stars for the Tartiflette because it was delicious. I would not return and DO NOT RECOMMEND.
