Give it a 0! Food and service was very bad! Will not be going back! Took forever to get more chips and my food was cold.

I was not impressed and don't understand the reviews on this place. My chicken was dry and my husbands ground beef in his enchilada was unseasoned and that's it just ground beef. The enchilada sauce was lacking flavor as well and our tea tasted nasty like very ...very nasty. Just not impressed. We went in Leals to eat yesterday. This use to be one of our favorite places. They greated us and seated us. Nobody ever acknowledged us after that. Nobody brought us chips and salsa, took our drink order, or even spoke to us after this. We waited for a good twenty minutes and at least four waitresses ignored us. We tried to get their attention and they would just look away like that's not my table. The sad thing is that this is the second time this has happened to us and I had to beg my husband to give them another chance. read more

The queso is so good. It is simply cheese without the flair of this and that just a full flavor that keeps me coming back. The enchiladas in my opinion are just the best. Excellent atmosphere ie warm, friendly and above all else you can talk across the table without having to scream. read more

Just stopped in here for a late lunch and was seated right away. Michelle our waitress was very attentive and took good care of us. She even noticed before I did my wife got the wrong food and promptly got it replaced even though a big group had just come in. Food was awesome, the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is they did get my wife's food wrong and my flour tortillas were stuck together in the middle. Eh. Just ok. Not bad but just not great. Place was clean. Staff friendly. Had the rellano served on brisket. Good beef. Only complaint was the rellano was cold. Obviously cooked earlier and just thrown on top. Pepper was cold. Cheeese stuffing no longer melted. Tasted good just bad juxtaposition of warm meat and cold pepper. Not much flavor to salsa. We ordered carry out, the supreme nachos With the beef and cheese queso. Cost us $14 for four little bitty nachos in a huge pan and they were cold and stale. I was so irritated . For $14 bucks I should have had more nachos . Way to go Leals ! read more

Spouse got her food and 10 minutes later I am still waiting. Hers was lukewarm so I can't imagine what mine will be like if it ever gets here. Ok, spouse just finished eating and is ready to go. I'm on my second margarita, which is nothing to write home about. I have an update. Food finally arrived. It was piping hot. Only problem was it was what my spouse ordered. Worst service ever! Party of 8 and two in the party didn't eat anything and were charged because they ate from the chips basket on the table. They did not order thier own, they simply ate what the waitress brought for everyone else. The manager stood by the door and refused to let anyone leave unless they paid 3.50 for thier water and eating some chips. read more

This place claims to serve "authentic" Mexican food, but the taco shells were out of a box. I've had better tacos from Taco Bell. I took one bite of my taco and that was all I could stomach. Nothing was fresh, nothing was authentic, nothing was good. We will not be going back. read more

I've visited Leal's a handful of times over the years and the food has always been consistently good. Service can be hit or miss sometimes depending on how busy it is. But if it's no-frills Mexican food you're looking for then this place usually comes through just fine. read more

Leal's has been around for a long while. They have excellent food and wonderful atmosphere. A great tex-mex places to eat!

We were driving through Plainview and tried this out. We've discovered not many people yelp in small towns and it can be challenging to pick a place. We try to pick non-chains though, so this was where we went. It was good. Not great but I'm giving 2 stars because I kind of think this might be the closest thing to something good/not a chain that was enjoyable. The cheese enchiladas were quite good- real cheese, not that fake velveta stuff. Everything else-we got tacos, chicken enchiladas, chips etc were good. And the tamales and hot sauce were average. I can't say there was a better place for us to stop though so we don't regret the choice to stop here, so don't be afraid if you are stuck like us and won't eat chains or fast food. And people of Plainview, please review your favorite places so we can try them out and give them some business! read more

Went back for another try hoping for a better meal this time. It was even worse than last time. The taco shells were stale once again. The beef tacos were bland, the salsa for the chips weak. I recommend that you avoid this restaurant. It's a waste of your money. Sorry excuse for a Mexican restaurant. I will never go back. read more

This is my favorite restaurant hands down! The food is always hot and amazing! I love the staff. They are always so nice and helpful. They also are really clean. The food is the best authentic Mexican food I've ever had. When I order to go the always have it when I get there with no wait! I highly recommend this place! read more

Leals's defines good Tex-Mex food. I used to live near Plainview and look forward to eating at Leal's whenever I go back. Their chips and salsa are excellent. I recommend the chicken fajita's or the topped sopapilla. The staff is great if you have special directions for your dish or want to make a substitution. The place fills up on weekend evenings, so be prepared for a short wait. read more

Mexican food in Texas doesn't get any better. I hunger for their chips and salsa nearly everyday. Their fajita plate is my favorite.

I have been to this Leal's on a regular basis. But on 8/24/2018 I took my family in and the service was good the food was as it should have been. But upon check out they would not take a check and there were no signs posted any where that I saw. So after I had the check made out the cashier then finally told me they did not accept checks. Then she said they only accept checks from certain people. What ever that means. I did tell her that was discrimination. I do not have any cards and very rarely carry cash. After I told her that was discrimination she then became rude and would not even look or talk to me. I have lived in Plainview my whole life and have never been treated this way. Like I said I used to go to Leal's on a regular basis. They have always taken my checks. I hope this will improve issues in the future so no one else is discriminated against. Food was hot and well priced for portion size. Waitress was well trained and kept us feeling welcomed and satisfied.

Chips/hot sauce and margarita were OK. Service was pretty good for party of 17. Food was flavorless. Very bland and verified by several in our party. One of us suggested the refried beans tasted like water. Perhaps that's why the food is so cheap. read more

Came in for lunch. Salsa was a bit hot but good. Chips are OK but not the best we have had elsewhere. They also serve guacamole with the salsa and it was fresh and good but not fancy. I had the Tuesday special, a chili rellano meal with rice and beans. Rellano was very good; beans and rice were so-so. Great food. Fast and polite service. Try the crunchy chili rellano with brisket, man that's good! Very affordable too!

Good for Plainview TX. One thing we really like is you can get in and out of here 9 times out of 10 quickly so it's good for a quick lunch during work week. read more
