This is a surprisingly nice little restaurant tucked inside the Doubletree hotel. Usually I'm hesitant to eat at hotel restaurants for a variety of reasons but Claraboya really surprised me. The service was prompt and attentive which was surprising since they were quite busy during our visit. I noticed Lobster Corndogs on the menu and had to give them a try. Wow it was three lobster tail pieces breaded in corndog breading, fried and served with an aioli on top. Such a surprise of flavors and taste. This place has a good selection of menu items and a full bar available. Definitely a nice place to grab dinner in Lubbock. read more

A great discovery in downtown Lubbock! Claraboya is hidden in the Doubletree Hotel but well much more than you expect from the usual fare. Nice vibe for dinner with live music to entertain. Amazing award winning food! Don't be fooled by the fact this place id tucked inside the Hilton Double Tree hotel. It's a first class, chef inspired foodie experience! I had a fresh Americano coffee with avocado toast. It seems simple, but thus had thick cut crispy heavy grain toast, topped with a fresh avocado that was mashed, a tiny squeeze of lime, and two poached eggs with scattered Arugula on top. The food and drinks are fantastic and should earn 5 stars but this has to be the most poorly ran restaurant in town. We dined on a Sunday morning for brunch. When we arrive we were sat at a table but then sat there for 15 minutes waiting for a server. They didn't have silverware available, and we had to walk to the bar to order orange juice because of the lack of service. The entire time we observed the manager slowly walking around the restaurant oblivious to what was going on around him while servers were doing their best to handle the restaurant. When we ordered drinks at the bar she made a comment to us indicating that this is normal since this manager has worked with them. I will return because the food is always good, but I'll have to plan for a long dinning experience due to the evident lack of leadership. read more

Food - Five Stars Staff - Five I ordered the Cowboy steak tacos and my wife ordered the salmon. Both were excellent choices for lunch. The tacos came with street taco size tacos and a small dish containing beans. My wife's dish had only the salmon and accompanied garnishments. So think a very light dish if you're hungry. The tacos definitely filled me up. The tea is excellent as they sweeten with simple syrup. Staff was very attentive and friendly. We also ordered the pudding bread for dessert, which is a little overpriced for what you get. read more

3.5 Stars This place is really expensive. Many of the options didn't sound appealing to me, which is unusual for me. The location is okay, but not great. It is off of Avenue Q, which is trendy on one side (Buddy Holly Hall) and a little rough on the other. If I'm going to pay $35+ per person, I'd like the restaurant to be its own establishment instead of part of a hotel. It's less cozy and professional that way. That said, my food was good. The service was friendly. Wait times were okay. There was great live music and plenty of tables with comfortable seating. I really liked that this restaurant is partnered with E3 farms and uses locally grown produce. This restaurant is more upscale than many other options in town, and would be a good place to consider for a date night. read more

Food was great, creative enough without being too pretentious. Good ambience. My biggest compliment was to the server, who, when we asked for honey mustard, she said "no, but I can make some." Ever since COVID, customer service everywhere is such a let down. She also did not roll her eyes when I asked for hot tea. I had a sore throat coming on. Was refreshing to see someone just make the effort to give hospitality. A little thing like that goes a long way. We had a birthday dinner here on Friday, May 22. Service started off well, but as the evening went on, the wait times for things became noticeably longer. We've visited several times before and have never had any issues. As always, our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. When it came time to pay, we noticed a $5 fee for bringing in a birthday cake. Not only were we charged the fee, but the other party dining with us was charged as well. At no point during the reservation process, online, in the restaurant, or by the employee who took our reservation were we informed of any fee for bringing in a cake. As it was getting close to closing time, the other party needed to leave and couldn't wait for Shelby to return, so I told them I would call the next day and speak with a manager. On Saturday, May 23, I spoke with Brittany, the manager, who stated there was no fee for bringing in a cake. After obtaining our check numbers, she said she would look into the matter and call me back. Unfortunately, I never heard back from her. I called again and was told she was busy, so I left a message. As of June 2, I still had not received a return call. The next day, I was advised by the front desk to email the General Manager, Shannon Edwards. I sent an email but never received a response. On May 27, I spoke with Sheri, who also stated there was no fee for bringing in a cake. We sent her copies of the receipts, and she promptly called me back after reviewing them. She informed me that both parties would receive refunds within three days. However, as of June 1, neither of us had been credited. I called again on that Monday June 1st, and Sheri said she would check on the status and call me back. Unfortunately, we never received that call either. As I explained to Sheri, this is not really about the $5 fee--it's about the principle. We have dined here on several occasions and have never been charged for bringing in a cake. It's not right to selectively charge some customers, especially when multiple parties are charged for the same cake. Sheri acknowledged that this was a training issue, and we understand mistakes happen. However, when customers are promised refunds and follow-up communication that never occurs, it becomes very disappointing and unprofessional, particularly when management fails to respond. At this point, I feel we have done everything reasonably possible to resolve the issue directly with the restaurant. Since no resolution has been provided, I feel it's necessary to leave this review so that others are aware of the situation and do not encounter the same issue. With that being said, the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. The entertainment that evening was excellent, we really enjoyed hearing Russell Joe Thompson while dinning for my birthday dinner. A special shout-out to the chefs, who consistently deliver delicious, well-presented dishes and never disappoint. read more

OK!...I see you 5 star dining disguised as just a "hotel" restaurant! My husband and I stopped today for lunch after seeing the fabulous looking pics of their food. When we pulled up we were a little taken aback by the hotel location. But we were starving so decided "what the heck let's just try it". Oh my goodness we are so glad we did!!!! We got the fried green tomatoes w/pork belly appetizer amazing, the salmon entree also amazing, and hubs got the cowboy tacos WOW JUST WOW!!!!! Some of the best food we have had all year. Coming from foodies who travel on our tummy's this rivals any fine dining establishment we have eaten in and can't believe this place is located right here in Lubbock!! We are counting the days to go back and try out more things on the menu. The chef is outstanding literally chefs kiss great as was the overall friendly staff. Ok; so I was here on business travel and as always I look ahead to try and navigate the places I want to try and eat at when traveling. Upon research I decided I was going to add this place to try while in Lubbock TX. When I arrived at my hotel the Double tree; I was pleasantly surprised to see this restaurant in the hotel. After review of the menu; I decided to go with the Chipotle Caesar side salad and the Bone Marrow Ribeye. First let's start with the service. Absolutely top notch and 100% on point. Never will you go empty on drinks or spend even 10 minutes in between needing anything as the staff here is always checking in on you! Let's start with the salad. Im not saying it to make an actual point other than I truly mean this when I say it; literally the best salad I have ever had. The slight outer warm char to the lettuce with the chipotle Caesar dressing sure sets the two as if it was a perfect marriage in the making. The deep rich sun dried tomatoes with peppers and capers really brought a new meaning to salad. I definitely would do the larger one and add steak which would probably be the best salad I have had all in all. The polenta cheese balls actually is what brought this salad full circle right back where it belongs which is the best of the best salads. Not sure who the head chef is here that designed this menu; but when you start it right off the bat with a salad like this, you definitely know the expectations of Wow factor is up for grabs. Shortly after the salad the Main course came out; Bone marrow ribeye. The bone marrow was not skimped out on and the flavor through and through was absolutely spectacular. It was cooked to perfection and prepared much better than I have had in the past. At this point of the experience I'm thinking how can a place like this been in a hotel in Lubbock TX and not where it truly belongs like Las Vegas NV. The steak was seasoned with what appeared to be in house selection of blended spices. It had nice crystallized chunks of salt that stood out from the rest of the seasonings in size that was perfectly blended and coated. The steak was slightly over cooked from my selection and was a medium all the way through where I preferred more medium rare. The steak was still a 5 out 5 and at the end of the night it was rather nice to not have to drive somewhere. There were many great options and fortunately for me I'll be back in a few weeks where I'll be able to try more of the menu that I'm looking forward to. read more

We came here while in town visiting family. The restaurant was particularly quiet on the night we visited. I eat gluten free and had read a good review about inquiring about gf things off menu so I asked our server, her answer started with "Gluten? That's wheat, right?" I knew I was on my own at that. The others at the table started with goat cheese croquettes, and said they were fabulous. I ordered the wedge with steak, it was ok. Hubby had a burger, it was good. I would not rush back. read more
