I can't think of any other place would rather train jiu-jitsu on the island than here with Leandro Nyza. He is one of the most patient and knowledgeable instructors I have ever known. He really cares about his students' progress and has a gift for teaching, as in being able to relay information across to his students in a way that is easy for others to understand. I have been to many schools around the country, many of the with big names and known figures in the sport and and I have to say, nobody explains technique as well as Nyza does and his ability to point out small details that make big differences is staggering.
Nyza comes from a very competition heavy background and has competed in countless jiujitsu and mma competitions. He is a fourth degree black belt in Brazilian jiujitsu and is one of the original members of the Nova Uniao association with over 25 years of training. His passion is teaching the art of jiujitsu, wearing a gi. In addition, his judo and wrestling is on a very high level. Classes are fun, challenging, and got me in excellent shape. Many students train with Nyza whether they are looking for exercise, fitness, stress relief, a healthy lifestyle, or the extra edge in competition. The classes are also filled with other students who are helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and ego-free as everyone gets along with each other and newcomers and regulars are encouraged to ask questions during class.
The location is located near Downtown/Chinatown and is very convenient and eas to get to by car, bus, or even walking. Very close for college students who go to HCC or HPU.
If you live in town and you are looking just to train for fun, exercise & fitness, health, learning, or competition, this is the perfect place to do that and stay active. read more
