I enjoy the lessons and I enjoy practicing at home and it's not a chore because I see the results every week, every week I'm getting better, learning more and building on that foundation. Too bad when we got the program I can see ALL THE SONGS we missed from the first show. My niece loves music and loves singing at home so I took her for her first concert! We had a good time and she was dancing in her chair. Our show had piano, violin, guitar and a clarinet guy who was pretty good. One of the kids froze on stage which was cute and sad at the same time, but everyone clapped to help him. Looking at the program the youngest performer was like 4years old - who is still older than my niece. It was alittle confusing to find Musipire on yelp because there are three branches, but I think I will bring my niece back when she gets older.

Besides the unparalleled instruction, she walks out of the studio with a little care package from her peek music lesson: this week she walked out with a triangle, a Hansel and Gretel book and a German flag as the theme was Germany. They have done Italy, orchestra, musical theater, and many other fun themes in the past too. The takeaways are useful at home for practice and little by little she is building her little instrument library. The love with which now Ms Ericka teaches her is just in line with how we felt with Ms. Jenny and Mr. Michael. This place is magical. Practicing piano and violin with my daughter is a highlight every day. We love it!

Students, read on if you're curious about who you're dealing with. I was a teacher at Tone until recently, and I wanted to share my experience with Jenny Shaw, the director. While with students she remained professional in her communications, with me she was erratic. At the beginning of our working relationship, I was abroad and also in the process of a huge move, so I relayed to her that I'd be out of touch until a specific date. I admit, in our first calls I was hard to reach, but afterwards I did communicate this very clearly to her. In response, she expressed frustration that I wasn't available enough and was ready to cease the process of hiring me, even after I communicated with her my situation. Furthermore, she'd often push me to speak to her (sometimes beyond business hours) and make time, even when I reiterated that I was busy that day (including at my sister's bachelorette, which she knew about). She'd also share with me highly personal information about students and their families that I felt I probably wasn't supposed to know. BUT what really takes the cake is this situation: Just yesterday, through a connection, I received a dream full-time job opportunity working in generative AI. It was unexpected, and I never would've agreed to work at tone if I knew this would happen for me. Naturally, I accepted the offer and immediately emailed Jenny with a resignation. I was kind, respectful, offered my apologies, and told her I'd be available to assist with any transition/extra off-boarding, and even recommended another teacher I knew she was in contact with to take over for students of mine. Her response to me was very cold. No "good luck", "sorry to see you go", just "email received" and a list of pretty standard off-boarding policies. This was surprising, as we communicated a lot over the last few months. But that wasn't the issue here. What was absolutely shocking was this: she then proceeded to FIRE a teacher that she was going to onboard and train. Because of ME (I recommended him to her). In the email (which was sent at 3:30am), she stated that was reason was "the conduct of an individual who recommended you to us". What was I supposed to do, reject this amazing offer that changes my life so I can continue teaching for Tone? Is that good "conduct" to her? To deny work to a wonderful, highly experience and skilled teacher because I accepted a job opportunity and promptly/gracefully resigned is not only wildly unprofessional, but petty and childish. After all these experience, I can confidently say that Jenny Shaw is the most unprofessional woman I've ever worked with in my career. Again, students, the teachers at tone are wonderful. But if you want a job opportunity at tone, don't work here ever.

Majority of the tutors have the degree from the musical institutions. The tutor we have for years is very nice and also strict. Besides teaching all the musical knowledge and performing skills, they help the kids get prepared for the NYSSMA and RCM exams. My daughter's NYSSMA exam scores are always kept at "outstanding" and "excellent" without fail. Besides the tutoring classes, they also provide practicing time for students. They encourage customers having musical instruments at home, and provide refurbished piano at reasonable price. The price tag of their tutoring class is higher than the local peers, but has been kept the same for several years.

As a mom on maternity leave, I really struggled to figure out how to spend my days with my new…read morebaby. I searched for any sort of mommy and me class in the neighborhood. Most start at 4 months old, just in time for me to return to work! I was thrilled to find Music Together and realize that they offer classes for babies as young as newborns. I brought my babe to a free demo class and signed up on the spot. The class is very structured and caregivers are actively involved. Stacey, the instructor, guides you through each song and activity. She has a beautiful voice and is really wonderful with each child in the class - making each feel special and appreciated. She acknowledges that all babies have pressing needs and welcomes everyone to feed and change the babies as needed. Early on, my baby would sleep through large swaths of the class. Stacey explained that despite being asleep, she was still taking in all of the music and knowledge. She's especially great at explaining developmentally how the class is helping each child grow and learn. The songs are fun and I find myself singing them at home without even realizing. My baby lights up when she hears the familiar tunes. This class has been great for providing structure to my maternity leave life, giving me a reason to leave the house, a community of other caregivers to spend time with, and most importantly - my little one loves it!
