Katie's Way Plus in Tacoma, WA, has been a life-changing blessing for my family. As a former Army…read morechaplain and a survivor of complicated PTSD from my own military experience, I've worked closely with veterans battling these demons. My son, who suffered from PTSD and TBI due to multiple deployments, had been struggling with severe depression, anxiety, and other combat-related symptoms. Despite trying countless conventional treatments, nothing seemed to help--until he found Katie's Way Plus and their TMS treatment. The transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. My son is a changed person, and for the first time in years, I feel like I have my son back. His mood, outlook, and overall quality of life have improved beyond anything we could have hoped for. Words cannot express how grateful we are to Katie's Way Plus for literally saving my son and giving him his life back. If you or someone you love is struggling, I can't recommend them enough. Very skilled practitioner, the place is clean and has a very cozy and natural feel to it, the rooms being named after the 5 chinese elements. The rates are very reasonable and I look forward to coming back again soon. Oh an it's in a very convenient location being close to several major bus routes. I had never done acupuncture before but was definitely open to the idea. I truly enjoyed the care I received at Abundant Health. My acupuncturist spent almost 45 minutes listening to my ailments and providing tips and recommendations for my hip and joint pain. Afterward our counseling session, I spent about 30 minutes laying on the table with a couple of needles in various parts of my body. They were thin, not very long, and all I felt was a type of warmness where the needles were inserted, with the one in my shin area being the most prominent. I am not exaggerating when I say that within 30 minutes (once I arrived home), I felt instantly better and was AMAZED at how good I felt, since I had not felt well at all in weeks (my nausea had been all day long). I immediately called Abundant Health to make another appointment for the next week, but the receptionist told me that they recommend not doing it for another two weeks, so I made another appointment for two weeks later. On top of that, on the morning of my next treatment, there had been a lot of snow in the area and THEY called ME to reschedule my appointment (I have not had good experiences with medical offices being pro-active and calling their patients/clients for any changes prior to the appointment!). Overall, I would go back to see them again in a heartbeat.

My experience with Greater Lakes Mental Healthcare during my internship process was extremely…read moredisappointing and emotionally exhausting. I entered the experience excited to learn, grow professionally, and receive guidance as a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student. Unfortunately, my experience did not feel supportive, educational, or encouraging. A large part of my concerns involved the supervision and overall communication I experienced, specifically involving the main supervisor, Bill, and Duc Cao. During meetings, Duc Cao often appeared supportive and at times seemed to come to my defense in conversations involving Bill. However, what was communicated to me verbally during meetings often did not align with what was later documented. This created significant confusion, stress, and a growing sense of mistrust throughout the internship process. As a student trying to learn and grow professionally, it was extremely difficult navigating an environment where I felt I was receiving mixed messages and inconsistent communication. Rather than feeling guided and mentored, I frequently felt overwhelmed, emotionally distressed, and uncertain about where I stood. One thing I found especially concerning was the apparent focus on whether or not I planned to pursue licensure after graduation. In my opinion, no supervisor should hold concerns, bias, or negative assumptions toward an intern based on their future career decisions or whether they choose to pursue licensure. An intern's long-term career plans do not determine their value, professionalism, or dedication within their school program, and those decisions should never be used against them in an internship setting. As a nontraditional student who has spent years working toward my education while balancing family, work, and community responsibilities, this experience had a significant emotional impact on me. Internship placements should be environments where students can safely ask questions, learn from mistakes, and develop professionally through honest and transparent supervision. Instead, this experience negatively affected my confidence, emotional well-being, and trust in the process. I believe mental health organizations, especially those involved in training future professionals, should place a strong focus on transparency, ethical supervision, supportive leadership, and consistent communication. Students deserve to feel respected, supported, and safe within their learning environments. I sincerely do not want another intern to experience the confusion, stress, and emotional exhaustion that I experienced throughout this process. My intention in sharing this review is not to attack anyone personally, but to encourage reflection and improvement in how interns and developing professionals are treated and supported moving forward. Despite this experience, I remain passionate about the counseling profession and committed to helping others. I simply believe honesty, accountability, and ethical mentorship are essential when working with future mental health professionals.

I was dealing with a lot and having a hard time solidifying paperwork with Heidi in a timely manner. So I definitely understand why she would be frustrated. What is ridiculous to me is how a supposed therapist would be so rude and unprofessional. What kind of professional makes assumptions and judgmental statements especially in a profession dealing with people struggling with anxiety and depression. Heidi said to me "Seriously dude - no reply to texts and emails from August 10th to now/ August 29, and you weren't in jail or an ICU and I'm the problem?" (see photos of email).

Her reply included an "OMG" in it because she was frustrated I didn't assume what her typos meant. I would've considered still working with her even after paying the $100 no-show fee, but after her blow-up reply, absolutely not and I wouldn't recommend anyone else work with her. Completely rude and unprofessional.
