Amazing!! Absolutely worth the time, money, and experience from beginning to the very end. I took the two day Basic Motorcycle Training Course (MTC). I had never rode prior and signed up solo without knowing anyone else in the class. I made friends with my other fellow riders quickly and easily. Sabrina (Office Manager) - helpful, patient, and accommodating. Answered all my questions when I signed up over the phone and sent all my needed paperwork promptly. James and Jose (our class Instructors) - both were so awesome! Different styles of classroom teaching and both were equally engaging and knowledgeable. On the actual range, I felt comfortable with their direction and appreciated their feedback. I never felt bad when they corrected what I was doing and they were really paying attention to each student. Each skill was thoroughly explained, practiced, and built upon. Breaks were given at perfect times throughout the time block. Larry (Owner) - Great guy! Interacted with our class, answered questions, provided tips and help, and was also engaging. Classroom - Great space. Bathroom is clean. There is coffee, water, a vending machine, and candy in the classroom, but bring your own if you feel like something different. Range - There is a van that takes students from the airport parking lot to the Range. There are helmets you can use if you don't have one. They will provide you with a hair net to wear under the helmet. They also have some gloves but I suggest in investing in your own. Don't forget your sunglasses and over the ankle boots! Water and small snacks provided. The portable toilets are clean! I was able to bring a bag with me with a change of clothes (I was paranoid about getting too hot and cold, ripping something, who knows what else) and some snacks/foods with me onsite. Classroom and Range are in different locations Notes: 1. Wear layers. It was cold in the classroom but hot in the practice area. 2. Breaks in the classroom locations are not long enough to leave site. 3. There is definitely enough time to pick up a fast lunch in the break between the classroom and range. For out of towners, there is a shopping center around the corner from the airport with (fast) food options on Las Posas. 4. Don't be afraid to ask questions! 5. Bring your SPF for your face on the Range. All the skin on your body will be covered with clothes and gear, but your face (maybe neck) will still get that sun through the helmet. 6. Read your manual that they send in your email. 7. Make sure the pants you wear that are in compliance to their requirements fit you properly. There is a lot of getting on and off the bike and riding. Hiking your pants or making sure your butt isn't showing isn't something you should be worried about. This was overall a top notch program. Good luck and happy (safe) riding! read more

I highly recommend anyone who rides a motorcycle to take this class. I grew up riding dirt bikes and after 25 years of not riding decided it was time to buy a street bike. The insurance discount was the motivation for signing up but after the first day I already noticed a difference in my riding. It was easier to learn better riding habits on a small bike in a protected environment with knowledgeable instructors than having a buddy recommend "try this" while on the open road! The 2 instructors were top notch. Both are avid riders and you could tell they want to share their love of riding with everyone. Building confidence will get new riders on the road, and teaching them safe riding practices will keep them on the road. Even if you've ridden for years, if you never took a class I recommend you give it a try. If nothing else you'll ride about 20 miles and never exceed 15mph, which is probably something else you haven't done ;-) read more

I had never ridden a bike before coming to this class and the guys at L2R were so helpful. They went step by step and really walked you through how everything works and how do everything. They really make you feel comfortable on the bike and make sure you feel confident and comfortable the whole program. I highly recommend this class for everyone who rides! They really help to teach you everything from how to think when your riding to how to turn and shift gears. My only negatives I was bummed about are that the bikes don't get as taken care of as they probably should so so some of the a broken and I got stuck on a bike that I didn't like or want to ride and wasn't comfortable on and they would t switch my bike for me (some liability or something), but I guess in the long run that's just going to make me a better rider. read more

Just completed the beginner course to get M1. Didn't know what to expect but found it very informative. The instructors are great, they really want you to get this right. I cannot say enough good about this school! I took the class a couple weeks ago and it was a lot of fun. I had Corinna, Art, Rory, and one other guy, Cant remember his name but they were all great. They made me feel less nervous about learning to ride, and you could tell they genuinely cared about the safety of the group, There were a few other ladies in the group and none of us had ever been on a bike, but everyone did so well. The bike I had was a good fit, they even had two Harleys out there, the new 500's. They had waters and refreshments for us. Oh and the bathrooms were really clean! I don't like using public bathrooms usually, but they were clean, so thank you for that! All in all, a great time and I'll be contacting them for the intermediate course as soon as I get my Harley 500 - No more being a passenger for this girl! read more

I want to express my tremendous respect and appreciation for James, Larry and Sabrina for a wonderful experience. I was a complete novice with a few hours of 50cc Moped experience (and am not a spring chicken). James has mastered the art of teaching while maintaining the student's dignity and building confidence. As a flight instructor, I recognize the challenge of walking that fine line between being uncompromising on safety and still keeping the fire of exploration alive. The curriculum is well designed and disciplined. All focused on being a safe rider Just put yourself in the hands of these talented and devoted teachers and you will do well. Much to the bruising of my ego, i failed to meet the safety standards by the end of day two (lets just say I gently in slow-mo laid the bike on top of myself at 2mph once or twice. School policy and James's good judgement determined that I should call it a day and come back in the next few weeks for a complimentary retake of day 2 training and the test. I admire James for the way he handled the incidents from start to finish. I intend to complete the course and am confident with the Learn to Ride VC method, I'll succeed. read more

I took this class on a whim as a birthday present to myself and so happy that I did! It was so informative, professionally run, and fun! I learned a ton about riding a motorcycle and ways to stay safe. By the end of the first day I was able to ride the bike confidently. By the end of the second day I was able to do swerves, emergency stops, and go in between cones slowly without hitting the cones or going out of bounds. I also learned how to make corners at high speeds and how to make sharp turns. All the instructors were awesome! They all had great attitudes and you could tell they really took there jobs seriously and cared about their students. This was the best thing I could of done for myself! I am going to get a Harley as soon as I get my license and then come back for the advanced safety course! read more

Came into this class with a grand total of 10minutes on two wheels (my friends scooter!). Not only do you learn what everything you need to get started, you have a fun time as well. I took the class two weeks ago and I have my M1 and own my first bike with almost 100miles under my belt. The instructors are really great, helpful, knowledgable and entertaining. I don't think I can say enough good things about this class or these people. From the booking of the class through Sabrina to taking the course through Bob, Brian and Amy, they could not have made this a more enjoyable experience. I used to ride on the back of my dad's motorcycle when I was younger, so riding a motorcycle of my own has always been in the back of my mind as something I've always wanted to do. I had had opportunities here and there to have my friends teach me, but never the time. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't have that time and went through this class instead of learning from a friend. Bob and Brian made sure everyone understood everything they needed to about the controls, operation of and handling of the motorcycle. They answered any question you had and gave lots of input and feedback on how to improve on your progress with the motorcycle. Having never ridden a motorcycle on my own before, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable and confident learning from these great people than I would have been learning from a friend. It's worth the money for sure, if not only for your safety, but the safety of others as well! Ok so I started out to sign up for the course because I let my motorcycle license expire and needing to take the driving test on my bike is a fail for sure. But as the class got going I really started to not only enjoy it but I also , with the direction of the staff, got re learned, if you will, on stuff that I needed . The staff was way cool and very into doing their job. Everyone was very helpful and I really enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone. The course itself was very informative and helpful however don't expect to get your certificate until at least 2 weeks after your course is complete. They are very bad at processing and you can't just got to the building to pick up your certificate due to CHP regulation bullshit. read more

I am a 67 year old male who has not ridden a motorcycle in over 30 years. I was concerned that my age might be a problem, but it was not, I fit right in. The class had 12 students ranging from my age to a young man of 17, and included three ladies. Classroom instruction was fun and was interactive. Range instruction was longer than the classroom part, you do a number of drills a number of times and ride about 20 miles in a very controled setting each day, and was very basic, which is what I and the other students needed. I feel I gained alot of knowledge from the classroom and range sessions, and am a safer rider now. The instructors stress safe riding over and over. On the second day in the classroom you must pass a 50 question test, which I was worried about, but if you have paid attention in class it is not a problem. The lead instructor's name was Mark and he is very good at what he does, as are the other instructors. I feel I got my money's worth, and then some. read more

What a fun weekend! I participated in the 3 day course. While quite exhausting (Friday night, 6:30am Sat/Sun start time), I enjoyed every minute of the classes. I was hesitant about attending a Friday evening class, but our instructor, Bob, was full of whit and humor, he energized the entire group! His congenial and knowledgeable manner made the classroom time very enjoyable and easy to recall. Larry is the owner and was on-site for the last day of riding range time. His goal was to make sure we would remember what was taught on the range, while out on the road. I can still hear his directions in my head - I will never forget them! (which just may save me from an accident down the road). Both Larry and Bob's direction and support was excellent and I would recommend this course very highly. I started last year with the beginner course which was great. It got me on to a bike, built enough knowledge and confidence to get my license and then buy a bike and go out and ride. The BIG thing though was to go back and do the Intermediate course (IRC) and then Advanced (Levels 1 and 2) with Larry and his team. Wow! That was transformative in understanding what riding a motorcycle is really about and how to be both safe and get the absolute most amount of joy out of it. Everyone who wants to ride a bike should go to Learn to Ride VC for the beginner course. But if you want to really really ride then you owe it to yourself to do the IRC and ARC courses. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient and fun. I am proof that they can take you from a "noob" to being a really confident, safe and skilled rider, just by taking the full course load. So many people told me that riding a bike was all about experience, but now that i really know I realize that most of those guys haven't really got a clue, even though then meant well. Practicing the wrong thing for 30 years doesn't suddenly make it the right thing. Go learn to do it right and you will still be around in 30 years and still riding. read more

This was an outstanding learning experience. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and did not have any gear....they provide nearly everything you need (most importantly the bike). Every instructor over the two day class was kind and helpful. I cant imagine getting out on the road with only a learners permit from the DMV. When I went to purchase my first bike two weeks after taking this class I was confident enough to ride it away from the dealership with no problems at all. Besides the incredible learning experience, passing this class makes it so you do not have to do the skills test at the DMV. In fact I was able to show up at the DMV just one time after completing the class to get my Motorcycle endorsement to my license. You do have to retake the written test for your standard Car license before you can take the motorcycle knowledge test, but both of these test can be taken on the same day one right after the other. I will be recommending this class to anyone who wants to learn to ride or needs a touch up on their skill set. read more

I had previously ridden dirt bikes and was originally taking this course just to get my moto license and get an insurance discount, but I ended up learning a lot. The instructors were great. They were really patient and helpful with the new riders, while being knowledgeable enough to offer valuable information to the more experienced riders. I think that this course has something to offer everyone and would recommend it to anyone who has not already taken a motorcycle safety course. I am 65 and have never rode a motorcycle before. I always wanted a Harley and never had the opportunity until now. This course was invaluable for me!!! The basics are well taught with an emphasis on safety and technique. The training bikes were quite a bit smaller than my motorcycle, kinda like going from a toothpick to a log. I think our trainer Bob (Mr. Excellent) was quite concerned about me and my choice of bike size. I went out that Sunday afternoon employing what I learned to the best of my ability, practiced and had a great ride that excited me all the more. I could not have done this as successfully without hearing Bob's voice in my head reiterating all the precautions and technique recommendations (Head Up...look where you are going, look ahead, watch out for trouble, not to get into it but to avoid it.). Never never could I have had that successful first ride without this training. On my Harley in the last two days I have racked up about 100 uneventful miles. Thanks guys you were great! I will see you after 3,000 to 5,000 for the intermediate course. Could not have done this without you. This training course is worth every dollar invested. Highly recommended!!! read more

Taking this course was an incredible experience. I thought I was a pretty good rider on a motorcycle before I finished this course. I learned so many skills during this weekend, and everybody associated with Learn to Ride VC was extremely helpful! I was looking for a place to refresh my riding skills and I came upon Learn2ride. I was so excited because I didn't want to drive far to take classes. I went to the website which has all the info you will need to answer your questions. I registered and within a week I took the 2 day/all day course. My trainers were Mark, James and Jose. They were all great at making you feel comfortable, understanding the class work and feeling good about the range which is where we did the actual riding. I am very impressed with the quality and care they provide and how eager they are to help you ride safely and correctly. If you are a first time rider or anytime rider and just need a refresher this is the place. Our class consisted of men and women, ranging from 20 yrs old to 65 yrs old. everyone in the begginer class had prior riding experience. i had an issue with one of the instructors, i asked to change my helmet in the middle of an excercise because the one i had on got me a really bad headache and made it difficult to focus. as i was changing it, i missed the most important excercise of the class. they didn't let me practice it so i missed it on "evaluation". instructor disclosed my information to another student in class after i left. couple people were given second chances on evaluation because "their speed was outside of the necessary limit". very condensed schedule and minimum time to practice any skill. my goal for the class was to learn how to ride, i learned how to get scared and anxious on the bike. the class killed all my desire to ride a motorcycle. i was so excited before going to the class... the office was helpful and accommodating, but i don't think i can recommend this class for beginner learning. read more
