I have two teens who both have permits right now. My daughter previously completed her required instructor driving hours with a different company but even after completing those lessons, there were a lot of things that she was doing that had me scratching my head. My son started out at a different school where he had a horrible experience, so we switched to Safeway, and I'm glad we did! His teacher was Barbara. She was amazing from beginning to end. Unfortunately, before he could finish his lessons, the pandemic struck, and we were in limbo for a few months. To our surprise, we got a call from DMV on Tuesday rescheduling his driving test for the upcoming Saturday. When I spoke with Donna she wasn't sure how she was going to fit him in given the short notice, but she made it work! After reading several reviews mostly from the Simi Valley Yelp, I took a chance and booked some classes with Safeway driving school in Thousand Oaks. It was definitely a smart choice. I am an older driver from Canada and I got the 2 hr refresher lesson as well as the 1 hr pre test and DMV driving test package. Not being from here and having to get retested in California is mandatory and stressful! Taking the course was definitely worth every penny! I am an adult driver from India, but I had no prior experiences of having driven in the United States. It had also been almost 10 years since I had sat behind the steering wheel of a car. So I decided to book 6 lessons with Safeway Driving School at Thousand Oaks. My instructor Sharon was absolutely amazing! She was really patient, dedicated and thorough. It was a bit of a learning curve getting adjusted back to driving a vehicle again after such a long time, especially having only driven stick-shifts almost a decade ago in a different country with vastly different traffic rules. But Sharon made it worthwhile. She always added little tips and tricks and pointed out traffic laws and regulations that are important for passing the behind-the-wheel DMV drive test. On top of everything, Sharon was super nice and friendly and it was really great having her as my driving instructor.
