Lynn is AMAZING! When a friend recommended her as a dance instructor to help us choreograph and learn our first dance for our wedding, we couldn't believe that someone could have like literally all 5-star reviews, but after a few lessons we could 100% see why! My (now) wife and I had never danced together before other than occasionally bopping around at weddings, and coming in to lessons with Lynn we described ourselves as pretty much having limited natural rhythm and expressive/fluid body movement. Lynn is 100% able to meet you where you are at, no matter what level you are. In our intro call, she was clear that her approach leaned towards more teaching the improvisation of dancing and not rigid moves. This was very different than what other dance instructors had told us, and we were very intrigued that in learning our first dance for our wedding, we wouldn't just be "trained ponies" that could dance to one song. Lynn really helped us be able to "feel" the music no matter what songs there are, and we have already gotten to use our newly acquired general dance skills/comfortability while dancing at several other wedding receptions! Rather than just tell us a rigid choreographed dance for our selected song, Lynn would live-choregraph and come up with the next part with us over our series of lessons! At first, we were slightly anxious, as it wasn't until roughly 2 lessons to-go / 3 weeks before our wedding that we had our finalized full dance. BUT WE HAVE LEARNED TO HAVE FAITH, TRUST IN LYNN, AND TRUST THE PROCESS! In hindsight, this was definitely the right approach. We didn't have a lot of time to practice on our own, so learning each part of our dance piece by piece was perfect for us. We nailed our first dance at our wedding flawlessly and our friends and family were wowed and touched by our unique expression of love! What sets Lynn apart is her contemplative aura, kind spirit, and ability to really connect with you as a human. We feel that it's rare to find people who are genuinely down-to-earth, caring humans, and Lynn is certainly in this category! So many times we came into her dance studio stressed from life, wedding planning, work, commute, etc., and her demeanor and the space she created for us allowed me and my wife to really grow in love together and focus on each other without the distractions of life. We loved that Lynn doesn't get bogged down by technical jargon or making sure your elbow is exactly at a 34 degree angle and stuff like that. I think she definitely has those technical capabilities, but she could tell that our primary objective was just to dance beautifully and lovingly together in a mostly classicly "correct" manner. She isn't abrasive at all when she corrects your dancing during lessons, she does it gently with grace and care, and she is very constructive in her approach. She creates the space to listen to how you feel about things and for you to communicate any kind of discomfort/unease you have with any aspect of the dancing or moves or anything. She is very intuitive, too, and sometimes could tell how we felt about things before we even voiced it! Thank you so much Lynn, from the bottom of our hearts! We highly recommend Lynn for anyone whether its first dance at wedding, any other wedding dance, or any other dance in life! Lynn did an incredible job of teaching us the basics, making us feel confident in them and ourselves, and helping us craft a routine that we really loved. Lynn is amazing! My partner and I took several lessons with Lynn in anticipation of our first dance for our wedding. As someone with no prior dance experience, the idea of ballroom dancing in front of all my friends and family was extremely daunting to me. Lynn's teaching method was excellent - she broke things down in a very digestible way, teaching us the basic steps, moving onto a few harder (and visually impressive) steps, and then helping us design and refine our own choreography for our wedding day dance. To begin with she was super prompt about getting back to me and finding a time to discuss our needs. We told her we wanted to choreograph a dance for our wedding, but needed help from the song to the dance moves. I'd like to mention I have no dance experience, at all. Needless to say Lynn quickly was able to help me catch on to the moves using a great mixture of teaching styles: analogies, symbolism, visuals, drawings etc. Starting with a few basic moves and building on that, Lynn crafted the entire dance for us. My husband and I decided to try Lynn's dance classes earlier this year so we could learn how to dance together and feel comfortable at weddings, events, or even just at home. Before meeting Lynn, my husband and I were struggling with finding the good rhythm to master our first dance. We tried several youtube videos online but seemed out of luck. Not to mention, we were dealing with COVID-19 restrictions. But Lynn was so good, and we were learning so much, that we added three more classes. We came to see it not just as an investment for our wedding, but for the rest of our lives together. Personally, I love to dance by myself, but I'm terrified of partner dancing. This is because as the man, I am supposed to lead, but I have trouble keeping the beat and keeping track of steps, and wind up embarrassing myself.
