PARENTS, PLEASE READ: This review reflects my personal experience regarding an incident involving my first-grade son while attending Belleview Christian School. My son attended Belleview Christian for a short period of time. During that time, an incident occurred that was deeply distressing for him and for our family. The restroom where this occurred did not have traditional solid stall doors. The stalls were separated by fabric-style partitions rather than full doors. While using that restroom, my 7-year-old son was in a stall, pants down, using the toilet. A much older student entered and physically assaulted him. He was repeatedly hit and pushed into the toilet. Only after my son screamed at the top of his lungs did a staff member hear him and come into the restroom. He was then sent back to class. I was not notified at the time of the incident. I learned what had happened only after my son got into my car after school and immediately broke down crying, shaking, and visibly distressed as he described the event. I documented his condition that afternoon. An incident report later stated that I had been contacted by phone. I did not receive a phone call. I reviewed my phone records from that day and have documentation of all incoming and outgoing calls. There was no call from the school. After I requested documentation, the school provided an incident report stating that my son was injured by a "toilet handle" and that there was "no visible swelling or bruising." Immediately after picking him up from school, I took him to urgent care. Medical professionals documented visible bruising and swelling across his back. When I requested that the report be corrected to reflect the medical findings, I experienced what I believe was resistance and a lack of transparency in the process. Because of that experience, I began documenting all subsequent communications. Since this incident, my son has struggled with using school bathrooms and has experienced ongoing distress. This occurred when he was in first grade. He is now in fifth grade, and he still speaks about what happened. He remains in therapy as a result of this event. Based on our experience: * I did not feel there was adequate supervision. * I did not receive timely parent notification. * I did not feel the response was transparent. * I did not feel there was meaningful accountability regarding how the incident was handled. My intention in posting this review is to share our experience so that other parents can make informed decisions. This is a truthful account of what occurred, supported by documentation. I stand by the facts of our experience. Your child's safety depends on leadership you trust. Based on what happened in our situation, I did not feel confident that my child was protected or that the incident was handled in a clear and responsible manner.

I also was not yet 100% sold on paying for a Christian education. She did a year of Montessori preschool and two years at a homeschool hybrid. This process of exploration over three years helped me gain clarity on what we want to prioritize in our children's education. It ultimately led us back to SCS, with grateful hearts. She returned to SCS as a first grader this past school year and I was completely blown away. I'll touch on three areas of 'insider insight' that I couldn't have known about until we were part of the school: community, discipleship and spiritual maturity. Community Community is of utmost importance to me, especially coming from a small, tightly-knit homeschool community at our previous school. SCS not only met, but exceeded my expectations for a parent community. I immediately felt plugged in and connected to the parent community just by jumping into a few of the many opportunities for parent involvement like Parents in Prayer, Mom's Time Out, Women's Bible Study, Room Parent and Volunteer XC / Track Coach. Raising our children in a community of like-minded, trustworthy, faithful and believing families is high on our priority list and brings so much peace of mind. I have connected with and really love and enjoy, not just a handful of families, but SO many families at SCS! Discipleship We truly felt that our daughter's teacher and all of her 'specials' teachers (PE, Music, Art & Library) partnered with us in training her up in the ways she should go. A biblical worldview and curriculum is woven throughout all subjects. As such, we have a consistency of discipleship from home, to church, to school. Spiritual Maturity Growing in my own spiritual maturity over the past three years and critically thinking about what I want our kids to take away from their education convinced me of the importance of investing in a Christian education, including any sacrifice necessary to make that happen. This first year back at SCS only affirmed and solidified that decision for me. I recently attended the last chapel of the year which featured two graduating eighth grade speakers. I was moved to tears by the spiritual maturity of these two young ladies. The spiritual fruit of a Christian education was evident in their words. I left challenged, moved, and hopeful for my own young children's experience. My own daughter demonstrated so much spiritual growth this past year too. From the conversations we had, to the Bible stories she recounted to me, to the songs, pledges and other things she memorized - her little heart was captured. The culmination being when she gave her heart to Jesus toward the end of the year. Her teacher emailed my husband and I to share the good news and I just cried and praised God. Our daughter's first grade teacher and SCS are forever a part of our family's eternal story and we are beyond grateful. This school is educating for eternity and, as a parent, I can think of nothing more valuable.

It's clear they take the responsibility of providing a quality Christ-focused education very seriously. Not just in high scoring academics, but in shaping and nurturing the character of young people. These kids are very blessed to have this school that cares so deeply for their lives. The results show in the students! As I was waiting in the hall for a couple minutes, a couple 12 year old kids introduced themselves to me on their own initiative, and we carried on a mature conversation. Our family started the application process for our son to enter Arma Dei Collaborative kindergarten…read more(Fall/2026) in October of 2025. We met all the criteria they had listed. We went through their very lengthy application process including having to pay for an application fee and $165 for student testing fee. I took my son to the testing. The staff said I had to wait outside the room during his testing and they would privately test my son. After the test, I asked how everything went and what was done during the test. They refused to tell me any details following the test (which was a bit uncomfortable), but told me it would be discussed during our family interview. Again, at the family interview they did not discuss my son's testing...My son is entering kindergarten and is reading at a first grade level. His preschool teachers regularly tell me he is ahead academically. I wasn't concerned about his performance but I do like to know what was discussed with my child and how he did. A day before May 1st, we finally received an answer regarding his admission. He was not accepted there was zero explanation for their decision. Just a short e-mail saying your not accepted, our policy is to not give any reasoning behind our decision, thanks for your time and money. The application was long, drawn out, lacked transparency about what testing your child is being given... and then their answer came at nearly the end of the school year. It is now very late for us to start looking into other programs as many of them are already filled. I called again to see if I could have the results of the testing we paid for but they never returned my call. Ultimately, we know it is best that he was not admitted. We do not want our child in a program that is not transparent with us as parents. It is just very frustrating to have waisted so much time, money and effort to apply. You may match all the criteria they have listed and they will gladly allow you to put in all the effort with zero intention of admitting your child or valuing your family.
