This place is a life saver in the cold winter months--especially when you're visiting from California with warm blooded kids like me! During a particular bad snow storm and with a toddler who was bouncing off the walls we found this place on Yelp and it is magical! Such a beautifully thought out place with so many different sections to play and be imaginative (they have full stores, shops, businesses and restaurants completely stocked with dress up outfits and every toy you can imagine for the kids to pretend they're at the grocery store or a vet), ride on toys, trains, an awesome slide and a trampoline room to get all the wiggles out. There is also a dedicated section that is fenced off for infants and they have snacks for littles and adults at the cafe up front. Since it's attached to a toy store (genius marketing, LOL) I've noticed they rotate the toys out pretty often so everything is in excellent shape and they have the coolest stuff to play with. I'd love if they offered the ability to buy a 5 or 10 pack of visits since monthly doesn't apply to our needs, but happily pay the price of admission for such a well designed place play place. Love their selection of toys! What really stood out to me today was the fabulous service provided by Alexa. I asked for help finding a gift for a 13-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl and I was not particularly helpful in narrowing things down. Alexa walked me through all the options and steered me toward gifts that the kids are going to love. After that, she wrapped them carefully and did some beautiful decoration with bows. this place is great! We attended our nephew's birthday party twice here and both times were awesome! its the perfect stress-free space for a birthday party. Jeri and her staff are always on top of making sure the experience is as best as can be! The only real issue I have is the timing before/after the party, which definitely felt a bit too hectic. With back to back parties throughout the day, we definitely felt rushed towards the end. Besides this, I would recommend this place for anyone looking to host a fun birthday party! read more

We celebrated my kids (3 and 5) birthday here and it was absolutely perfect. They have different packages and we picked one where they handled most things and included a character visit from Elsa. All we had to bring was the cupcakes and pizza! We spoke with/emailed the owners a few times prior to the party- excellent communication and I was blown away by all the small touches. The party room was decorated BEAUTIFULLY! Our character actor Elsa (whom I had not spoken with beforehand) was INCREDIBLE and wove a whole story about coronations on the spot and then crowned my girls with crowns I had brought with me (again with no prior coordination- I brought the crowns along thinking it would be nice to wear for pics). She also sang, gave out hugs and posed for pics- just a lovely lady. The playspace here is awesome. Kids ranged in age from toddlers to 5 and there was something for everyone - a gym space, a cool train setup, pretend play areas, and a very fun slide. Pricing is fair and based on this experience I think it was an excellent value. read more

I am an adult collector of dolls and so when I go to the dentist, which shares a parking lot with L.E., I always go in. I have to say the last two times I have been treated very rudely by the staff. Today, when I went in, I was looking at the Barbie section and an employee came over to me and said, "are you looking for some Barbie?" and I replied, "No, I just like to look" because I wasn't in need of sales assistance. She replied, "You just like to look? Well, that's kind of creepy." Seriously? If you have a problem with adults who collect dolls, maybe a toy store isn't where you should work. When I went in a few months ago I overheard a staff member telling a customer, "Let me take those to the counter for you because I really don't want you to break them" in a very condescending tone. The staff at this store obviously needs some training on basic customer respect. read more

Short and sweet since others have already said the same things I'm thinking - my 3 and 4yr old spent 2.5hrs here yesterday, and will have their birthday party here next week. Between the train table, the play sets that are more like movie sets, and the tumble area, they can get some exercise, play, interact with other kids, and have a blast. Odds are good I'll take the kids back there later today. That said, if you think you'll go more than once a month then the membership will save you nicely. Also the place is well kept considering how many kids can be running around the place at a given time. The folks who clean-up and organize the place non-stop have a thankless job.... but they do it well and I'm appreciative! And it's on us as parents to make sure our kids treat the place like we'd treat our home. I'd actually like to take some time and comment on the 1-Star review because I think putting them in perspective can be more helpful to readers / first timers: Nicole, you were clearly upset when you posted your review last year about the cost, and having to drag your kids from the place best suited for rich snobs. But exactly what indoor entertainment place can an adult, 2 kids and an infant spend several hours at for less than $50? Playground, public library sure, but that's not what Learning Express is. Thinking about it too for $9 more you could have got the monthly membership, gone back weekly and really got your money's worth. Lastly if the 2 websites didn't list prices, did they list a phone number... you could have picked-up the phone. As an aside I do think the mark-up at the concession stand is a bit much, but you can bring your own. read more

My 15 month old can't have enough of this place! She loves playing with the cool toys that are really new as well as hopping on the trampoline in the gym area. The place is kept really clean and the store normally has activities engaging children (like drawing, character appearances, etc). The cafe stand next to the play area is also an added bonus for moms who just need that caffeine boost! The employees are all so nice and caring too! read more

This is by far my favorite indoor play center. If you think about the developmental needs of children aged 6 months through six years, this place has everything you you'd want in your own kids' playroom. For gross motor skills, they have the coolest little gym with the BEST equipment. From the open trampoline, rock wall, circle rope swing, various safe climbing structures, and soft mats to the mini-gymnastics bars, and way more, the entire room is stocked thoughtfully and encourages both exploration and exercise. Parents and caregivers can relax because just about the entire room is padded! Outside the gym is the Midtown which consists of different rooms set up for imagination: music-making, grocery-shopping, animal care, food serving, engineering, dress-up--it really has it all. In the center of Midtown is the most amazing train set I've ever seen, which invites kids of all ages to play together (or beside each other). This place is always clean and organized no matter how busy it gets because the owner has hired someone with the sole job of cleaning up and organizing throughout the day. Everything still looks brand new because this place is just so well taken care of and so well-managed. I adore the women who work here-they are always friendly, funny, and helpful. My twin boys and I love coming here. Update: Today my boys attended their first class here, Preschool Prep, led by the amazing Ms. Jess Porter. Listening to her warm, positive, and nurturing voice makes me wish I were a kid again so I could be her student. It is obvious how much the kids enjoy and respect the way she reads a story aloud, explains the steps for completing a craft, teaches the "Letter of the Day," facilitates smooth transitions, as well as commends children for their effort and/or enthusiasm. What a pleasure it was to watch both of my boys truly engaged and focused. It is clear that Ms. Jess, Ms. Sonja, and the rest of the team at Learning Express has put a lot of thought into this class, and I am so very grateful and excited! read more

We had my son's 5th birthday at Learning Express Play and it was wonderful! From the moment I called to inquire about their parties, everything was taken care of. Jeannie Is terrific. She is incredibly enthusiastic and so good at what she does. She was organized and walked through all the details with me. She made suggestions but it was never a "hard sell". The day of the party was great. Completely organized and ran like clockwork. We ordered cake and pizza from Prince St., Café and it was delicious. We had two hosts for the party (Keilan and Sarah) and they could not have been more helpful. They were there anytime we needed him and frequently asked if there was anything else I can do to help us. My son and his friends had a great time at the party. The snowball fight was a big hit. And all of the parents enjoyed it as well. We had several parents specifically thank us having coffee. I would highly recommend having a party at Learning Express Play. read more

My 18mo daughter is a happy member of the play place and we love the toy store too! Discovered it from a free event we found on FB. It's so dangerous though because we want to buy everything. The only sad thing is that the play place used to close at 6 and just recently they now changed it to 5pm. Not sure if they have enough traction to be open late. So if you're a working parent the other place I know of is Imagine Play Space in Cambridge which is open until 8pm but it is not has squeaky clean & polished at this place. I hope someday thy will have maybe a couple of days a week where they are open until 7 or 8pm. Such a great place read more

My son and I stopped by the open house this past weekend and got to meet Elmo, pick up some great toys, and spend time in the play area. We had such a blast shopping in the grocery store, and playing with the trains that we didn't make it into all the other great rooms! I am really impressed with the customer service at this location. I shopped there this week and after paying noticed a sale item did not ring up on sale. The associate then processed a refund on my debit card the difference. As I was driving home I received a call from the manager Beth saying that in error they actually charged me again. I was able to give my debit number over the phone so they could refund me the correct amount. It only took 2 days to appear back in my account. Luckily since I am a rewards member they had my contact information in their system and could fix the error. I appreciated the quick response and how sorry they were. I was not mad at all, mistakes happen but I probably would not have noticed this until days later (or maybe not at all) so I was thankful for the service they provided! read more

Love love!! There is not another place like this for kids that I've come across. Lots of rooms with different settings to play. The cafe. The grocery store. The vet. The bookstore. This store is absolutely amazing. So many fun, educational toys. Truly a great place to bring children that I am babysitting! They had a blast during the Movers and Shakers musical class. They are so excited to return for another class next week. The staff is so friendly and open to helping out with product assistance and class registrations. Also, there is an adorable coffee shop inside the toy store I was able to get some work done at while the kids were having fun in the play area. I cannot believe that I am just now discovering this toy store! Learning Express Toys is seriously a babysitters dream come true. Not only are there tons of educational and fun toys, but they also offer classes for the kids to take. The children I babysit for have taken a few of the classes and they have the best time. My 3 year old loves this space. It is perfect for her age. It incredibly clean and well maintained. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. We got the membership. One of the selling points for me was it nut free aware facility and no outside food is allowed. This is great peace of mind as a food allergy mom. However, today we arrived and folks were clearly lunching on outside food at the tables. Very disappointing. We will not be continuing our membership if management is consistent with there own policies. read more

We recently celebrated my son's second birthday at Learning Express Play. It was one of the best children's parties we have ever attended and we're still getting compliments from guests. The space is clean and well kept. Jeannie, the party coordinator, was super helpful in working with us on details including theme, a dance party, and even a guest appearance by Marshall (from Paw Patrol). The party room was decorated amazingly and I didn't have to do a thing but show up. The staff that helped us out that day were friendly and available. The cost was a little more expensive than other venues but they offered a lot to justify it. The kids loved it and didn't want to leave. It is a brilliant layout for imaginative play with a grocery store, restaurant, veterinary office, and more!! We've gone a few times for drop in play and will certainly return in the future.
